Description
The present invention relates to a disposable hygiene article. Such an article can e.g. can be used as a diaper, sanitary napkin or insert.
Most known disposable hygiene articles, such as diapers, have a surface layer made of 100% viscose silk. Such a surface layer presents certain problems in that the viscose fibers hold a considerable amount of liquid so that high rewetting can occur, which leads to the child's skin remaining moist. In order to overcome these difficulties with the diapers made of viscose fibers, surface layers made of hydrophobic material such as polyethylene or polypropylene fiber have already been proposed, see US Pat. No. 3,838,692. The hydrophobic surface layers ensure less rewet, but have the disadvantage of a low speed of the Fluid passage. Various proposals have been made to overcome this difficulty, including To make holes or openings or slits in the hydrophobic surface layer, which of course immediately enables a high rewetting, which at least partially reverses the advantage of the hydrophobic material as a surface layer with a suitable liquid passage rate.
The present invention has for its object to overcome the above-mentioned difficulties and to provide 5 disposable hygiene articles which allow a rapid passage of liquid, while the liquid retention is low and practically no liquid rewetting occurs.
The object is achieved according to the invention by a throw-away hygiene article, which is characterized by a backing film, an absorbent pad lying over the backing sheet and a surface layer made of hydrophobic nonwoven material which is permeable to liquid over the pad, and means which cover the surface layer with the pad at i5 locations that are at a distance from the periphery of the cushion.
According to the invention, the surface layer advantageously consists of a hydrophobic material, for example polyethylene * or polypropylene fibers, and is attached to an absorbent pad by means of connecting means or line embossing, by means of adhesives, heat seals or any other suitable connecting means. The disposable hygiene article according to the invention consists of a usually impermeable underlay film and an absorbent pad over which the surface layer is attached. The punctiform or cellular embossments allow the liquid to quickly pass through the surface layer into the absorbent pad. If the hydrophobic film is not in contact with the absorbent pad, the liquid remains on the surface layer for a considerably longer time.
The invention is explained in more detail below with the aid of drawings which represent special embodiments of the disposable hygiene article according to the invention. 35 Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of a diaper constructed according to the invention.
Fig. 2 shows a vertical section taken along the line 2-2 in Fig. 1.
FIG. 3 shows a partial top view of another embodiment according to the invention, in which cellular adhesive is applied.
FIG. 4 shows a partial top view of a further embodiment of the invention, in which adhesive is applied in spots.
45. As can be seen from FIG. 1, the diaper 10 is equipped with an impervious underlay film 12 on which an absorbent pad 14 lies. A surface layer 16 made of a hydrophobic material, such as polypropylene or polyethylene fibers, is disposed over the pad, so that the edge portions 18 of the backing sheet 12 are folded over the edge of the surface layer and heat sealed or otherwise attached to the surface layer to enable it Way to hold the diaper together.
As can be easily seen from FIG. 2, the surface layer 55 and the absorbent pad are embossed together along the contact lines 20, the contact lines 20 being provided at a distance from one another and from the edge 18 of the diaper. The contact lines serve two different purposes. First, they should collect the liquid in the recesses between the raised ribs 22, and secondly, the contact lines allow the liquid to pass through the surface layer and flow quickly to the absorbent pads. Instead of the contact lines 20, contact points generated by embossing or heat sealing can also be provided. Furthermore, instead of the embossed contact lines 20, lines of adhesive, such as at 26, which are applied to the cushion 14, and instead of lines of adhesive

stoflf auch in Reihen angeordnete, unterteilte Punkte aus Klebstoff verwendet werden, wie in Fig. 4 bei 28 dargestellt ist. it is also possible to use subdivided points of adhesive arranged in rows, as shown at 28 in FIG. 4.
The invention can advantageously be used in the manufacture and manufacture of sanitary napkins, inserts and other similar disposable hygiene articles, in particular also for diapers.

Of course, various deviations from the above-described embodiments of the disposable hygiene article according to the invention can also be made, which likewise fall within the scope of the present invention.
