Articulation element according to claims 1 and 2, wherein the height of the pin is slightly less than the foreseen distance between the inner faces of the plates.
The present invention relates to a mechanical articulation element, particularly designed for application to members and elements of textile machines, but which can also be used in other fields of mechanics.
It is known that in numerous mechanical applications it is necessary to provide a pin intended to form the axis of an articulation between two parallel flat bars. In similar cases, a cylindrical pin is normally used, the length of which is slightly greater than the desired gauge, and which has the ends turned to a smaller diameter to be introduced into holes made in the opposite support plates which form the joint. The portion of each stud that protrudes beyond the outer wall is squeezed to result in a rivet attachment of the stud to both plates.
Questo sistema presenta alcuni inconvenienti, in quanto:This system has some drawbacks, such as:
— l'operazione di rivettatura provoca una deformazione molto accentuata nel perno; per fare in modo che il pezzo rivettato oscilli liberamente si dovrà perciò avere un diametro dal foro maggiorato in quanto una misura più precisa provocherebbe inconvenienti;— the riveting operation causes a very marked deformation in the pin; to ensure that the riveted piece oscillates freely, the diameter of the hole must therefore be increased as a more precise measurement would cause inconveniences;
— lo smontaggio del pezzo così ottenuto implica un lavoro difficile e rende impossibile riutilizzare alcuni pezzi dell'articolazione che restano danneggiati durante lo smontaggio.— the disassembly of the piece thus obtained involves difficult work and makes it impossible to reuse some pieces of the joint which are damaged during disassembly.
To remedy these drawbacks, the articulation element according to the invention has been provided. It is characterized in that it comprises two plates emerging from a body of the element, a pin interposed between the plates and a connecting screw and in that the pin is fixed by riveting to one of the plates and connected with the possibility of removal to the other plate using the screw. Conveniently in this articulation element the engagement between the second plate and the pin takes place by means of a conical edge of the hole in the plate through which said screw passes and rests with its head to screw into a threaded hole of the pin.
The invention is illustrated in more detail - by way of example - in the following description, carried out with reference to the attached drawing, in which:
fig. 1 is a front view of the articulation element according to the invention, of which fig. 2 is a side view; and fig. 3 shows the same element — still seen from the side — in the disassembled position.
With reference to the drawing, the articulation element according to the invention comprises a pair of plates 1 and 2 emerging from a body C of the element, a cylindrical pin 3 and a screw
4.4.
The plates 1 and 2 carry opposite holes 1' and 2' whose peripheries are folded inwards forming truncated cone-shaped leads 5 and 6.
By means of the guide 6, the cylindrical pin 3 is stably connected to the plate 2 as if by a rivet, the pin 3 itself having a seat to suitably accommodate the conical periphery of the hole 2' of the plate 2.
The pin 3 is crossed by a threaded cylindrical hole 7 and has a conical flaring 8 on the side of the plate 1 in which the conical periphery 5 of the hole 1' of the plate 1 rests. The engagement between the plate 1 and the pin 3 is ensured by screw 4, suitable for screwing into the hole 7 and whose suitably countersunk head marries with the truncated-conical periphery of the hole 1'. The screw can be tightened and unscrewed when necessary, acting with a male wrench on the hexagonal seat 9 of its head.
The height of the pin 3 is kept slightly lower than the intended distance between the inner faces of the plates 1 and 2 so that when the pivot element is mounted, as in fig. 2, there is a play between the end of the pin itself and the internal face of the plate 1: in fact, after tightening the screw 4, it is the truncated-conical edge 5 that bears the pin 3.
With this system, the diameter of the pin 3 can be manufactured according to a tolerance corresponding to the design one, rather than increased, as happened in the past; in fact the simple riveting on a truncated conical wall on one side and the screw application of the plate on the other side do not cause any deformation in the pin.
As far as the assembly and disassembly of the articulation of which the illustrated element forms part is concerned, it is evident that they can be obtained simply by operating on the screw 4 and using the elasticity of the plate 1. Fig. 3 shows the disassembly condition in which the articulation element according to the invention can be connected to another element having a hole through which it can strike the pin 3.
