Hieraus ergibt sich bei nachlässigem oder unsachgemässem Gebrauch des Gerätes, etwa bei zu starkem Erwärmen des Widerstandsheizbandes und/ oder zu starkem Andrücken der Schweissbacken sowie beim Verkanten des Heizbandträgers die Gefahr, dass das zu trennende und gleichzeitig neben der Trennaht dicht zu ver-schweissende Folienmaterial ausser an der Trennleiste auch an den scharfen Aussenkanten dieses Widerstandsheizbandes durchgetrennt oder zumindest erheblich geschwächt wird. Die Folge von diesem unbeabsichtigten Durchtrennen . sind undichte oder unsichere Schweissnähte, welche das zwischen den Folien eingeschweisste Gut nach aussen austreten lassen. Die als Schweisszonen dienenden Randstreifen 20 des Heizbandes 19 weichen somit mit zunehmendem Abstand von der Trennleiste 21 gegenüber deren wirksamer Kante zurück. Sie bilden stumpfwinklig zueinanderstehende Flächen, deren gedachte Schnittkante unterhalb der wirksamen Kante der Trennleiste 21 liegt. Das Heizband 19 ist ferner an den Aussenkanten seiner als Schweisszonen dienenden Randstreifen 19 mit entgegengesetzt zur Trennleiste 21 nach hinten abgewinkelten leistenartigen Ansätzen 22 versehen, welche an den Flanken des über die Auflageschiene 11 verlaufenden, leistenartigen Vorsprungs 18 anliegen. Infolge des nach aussen zu stärker werdenden Wärmeüberganges in den Schweisszonen 20 nimmt die Plastifizierung der zu verschweissenden Folien 23 nach aussen hin ab, so dass ein unbeabsichtigtes Durchtrennen der Folien 23 hinter der Schweissstelle an den Rändern des Heizbandes mit Sicherheit vermieden wird. Der Druck kann selbstverständlich auch durch entsprechende Formgebung der elastischen Einlage 16 im Andrückbalken 15 in einem für eine einwandfreie Schweissnaht günstigen Sinne beeinflusst werden.
