Abstract
Known underwater luminaires have metal housings which are prone to corrosion. This defect cannot be remedied by using plastics because difficulties thereby occur in the sealing in the pool wall. In accordance with the invention, a finished part (7) made from concrete or a concrete-like material, e.g. asbestos cement is provided as the underwater luminaire housing. <IMAGE>

PATENTANSPRÜCHE

PATENT CLAIMS
1. Underwater light, characterized in that a prefabricated part made of concrete or a concrete-like material is provided as the housing.
2. Luminaire according to claim 1, characterized in that the housing consists of asbestos cement.
Underwater lights are usually provided with metal housings, with cast aluminum, cast iron or stainless steel sheet being the preferred material.
The occurrence of corrosion on a chemical or electrolytic basis has turned out to be a disadvantage.
Efforts have been made to remedy this deficiency by using plastics as the housing material, but experience has shown that the plastic housings cause difficulties in sealing them in the pool wall.
In order to overcome these disadvantages and difficulties, the underwater light according to the invention is characterized in that a prefabricated part made of concrete or a concrete-like material is provided as the housing.
The advantages that the invention offers are the elimination of the signs of corrosion and the possibility of achieving an intimate connection between the luminaire housing and the concrete pool wall.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the underwater light according to the invention is shown.
According to the drawing, a light source 2 is located in a reflector 1, the reflector 1 being held on a rear cover 4 by means of a holder support 3. A front light exit disk 5 is pressed tightly against the front edge of the housing by means of a pressure ring 6. The housing 7 of the underwater lamp consists of a prefabricated concrete part or one made of a similar material, for example asbestos cement.
The lamp housing 7 is concreted into a corresponding receiving opening of a basin concrete wall 8. The lamp 2 and the reflector 1 are inserted into the housing 7, and the rear cover 4 carrying these parts is then attached to the rear of the lamp.
