Description
The invention relates to a cuff with a cuff band for measuring blood pressure, the cuff being wrapped and fixed around a body part of the patient and having an inflatable stowage chamber.
Cuffs made of textile materials with a rubber storage chamber located therein are known. They are placed over the patient's arm and inflated automatically or by hand. Here, the brachial artery is more or less constricted. In addition to simple pulse frequency measurements and the like, the cuffs are used in connection with an automatic recording device, cf. DE-OS 2 340 813.1 to determine the systolic as well as the diastolic value of the associated pulse pressure using the Riva-Rocci / Korotkoff method. These measurements are determined in a manner known per se by the occurrence or disappearance of Korotkoff's noise, which are related to the pinching off or releasing of the pinching off on the brachial artery.
For sound transmission, it is known to install either a microphone or a sound chamber in the cuff. In the latter case, there are two chambers in the cuff, one chamber being the stowage chamber, while the other chamber, which is much smaller, only serves to record the Korotkoff noise and to forward it to the sound transducer in the recording device. In contrast, the actual storage chamber with a control pump or other external pressure sensor, for. B. a rubber bellows, which serves to inflate the stowage chamber and consequently to pinch off the artery. As explained above, the small sound chamber cannot perform this function in principle.
Blood pressure measurements are carried out on both adults and children. The dimensions of the arms of these people are significantly different, so that it was previously necessary to put on a different cuff with different stowage compartments for one adult and one child, because the adult's cuff was too large for the child's arm and the cuff for the child's arm was too small for the correct attachment and safe function for the adult. Since the greatest possible safety is aimed at during the measurement, it would be inadmissible to accept even small errors due to poorly adjusted cuffs. This is disadvantageous in that when changing from adults to children or vice versa, it is always necessary to remove the cuff hoses either on the cuff or, as is regularly the case, on the pump and reconnect them. This is particularly difficult when working with automatic recording devices where the hose ends are not easily accessible for better shielding. An increased expenditure of time occurs in serial examinations, especially if the patients have different ann dimensions. Such a loss of time is not tolerated in a modern medical practice.
The object of the invention is to avoid the above disadvantages and to create a cuff in which the transition from the adult cuff to the child's cuff can take place in a matter of seconds.
For this purpose, it is proposed according to the invention that in addition to a first stowage chamber, the sleeve has a separate second stowage chamber, which is different in size, and that a pneumatic switchover component is present between its respective pneumatic feed lines. This achieves the considerable advantage (time saving) that one and the same sleeve, which is permanently connected to the device or the pump, can be used to switch from one storage chamber to the other storage chamber of the same sleeve.
Es zeigen: Embodiments of the invention are shown in the drawing and are explained in more detail below. Show it:
30 Fig. 1 eine schematische Anordnung von zwei Staukammern, wobei in diesem Falle für die Schallabnahme eine kleine Schallkammer zusätzlich vorgesehen ist, 30 shows a schematic arrangement of two storage chambers, in which case a small sound chamber is additionally provided for sound absorption,
Fig. 2 bzw. Fig. 3 eine schematische Seitenansicht eines Umschaltbauteiles in Form eines Kolbenschiebers, 2 and FIG. 3 is a schematic side view of a switching component in the form of a spool,
35 Fig. 4 bzw. 35 Fig. 4 and Fig. 5 in schematic cross section an adult arm or a child arm, wherein in the case of Fig. 4, the larger storage chamber intended for the adult, in the case of Fig. 5 the smaller storage chamber intended for the child inflated is.
3a (vgl. Fig. 4, 5) satt, verzerrungsfrei und ohne Knicke aufeinanderzuliegen kommen. 40 The cuff 1, in which the cuff band with the associated closure is omitted in FIG. 1, contains a smaller storage chamber 2 for children and a larger storage chamber 3 for adults as well as a sound chamber 4, the pneumatic line 5 of which to a pressure measuring device or the like 45 (not shown) leads, while the pneumatic line 6 of the stowage chambers leads to a (not shown) pump or the like, from which the respective stowage chamber 2 or 3 is inflated when the sleeve is put on. At least one pneumatic changeover switch 9 is located between this line 6 and the associated line branches 7, 8 for 50 the stowage chambers 2 and 3, the structure of which can be seen more precisely from FIGS. 2 and 3. From Fig. 1, however, it can be seen that the walls 2a and 3a of the chambers 2, 3, which are made of sheet-like rubber material, have a material strip 10 of the 55 sleeve between them, which allows a fold to be produced conveniently, so that when the sleeve is wound up and thus always the walls 2a and 3a (cf. FIGS. 4, 5) belonging to the two storage compartments 2, 3 come to rest, without distortion and without kinks. This ensures that each of the chambers 2, 3 performs an optimal function for itself and is not disturbed by the other.
Ferner ist aus 4, 5 it can first be seen that when the smaller chamber 2 is inflated, its wall 2a fits snugly against the child arm 65 11, while the wall 3a of the other chamber 3 is not subjected to the dynamic pressure, but on the other hand does not interfere with the transmission. The same applies analogously if the chamber 3a is inflated, but the chamber 2 is not. Furthermore is off

Fig. 4, hat. 4, 5 can be seen that in any case the small sound chamber is either directly against the chamber 3 or the chamber 2, so that the sound pressures corresponding to the Korotkoff sound are effortlessly supplied to the chamber 4 and from here via line 5 to the sound transducer can be. s As can be seen in particular from FIGS. 4 and 5, the arrangement of the sound chamber 4 (if it is used instead of a microphone) is such that it always has at least partial contact with it when the stowage chamber is inflated, cf. Fig. 4. The walls of the sound chamber 4 and a wall part of a storage chamber are thus at least partially adjacent to one another when the sleeve is wound up.
The pneumatic switch 9 preferably has a housing 12 z. B. plastic and axial openings is L3, 13 through which a piston assembly 14 is used with piston surfaces 15, 16 in the manner of stepped pistons, which are at a greater radial distance from the axis 17 of the unit. The circumference of the pistons can be provided with a circumferential rubber seal.
In a first position, FIG. 2, compressed air flows via the common supply line 6 via the connection space 18 in the direction of the arrow through the line 7 to the chamber 2. In this case the device is prepared for measurement on the child's arm.
If the next patient is an adult, the same cuff is placed on his upper arm and only the piston axis 17 is shifted from left to right (FIG. 3). Now the compressed air flows from the pump via the feed line 6, the connection space 18 and the feed line 8 into the airtight storage chamber 3, which are thereby inflated. Now the medical examinations can be carried out in a known manner by controlling a pump valve and the pressure in the storage chamber 3 can be increased or decreased in a suitable manner.
