PATENTANSPRÜCHE

an alarm device coupled to the circuit comes into operation as soon as a certain resistance value is undershot.
It is known that the leak testing of resin-coated or ceramic-lined pools made of masonry or concrete, in particular of neutralization pools and pools containing corrosive media with a high electrode concentration, is quite difficult, especially when the pools are in the ground or groundwater.
This problem has previously been solved by surrounding such pools with a second pool and introducing a seepage layer between the two pools, which was provided with a pH probe in the deepest point of the outer pool, which triggers an alarm device when a certain pH value is reached .
It is also known that all currently for lining or
Resin used for coating purposes are poor electrical conductors and have a volume resistance of the order of 1015 ohm x cm. Formulations for antistatic coatings made from such synthetic resins have a volume resistance of 5 x 102 to 105 ohm x cm. Examples of such formulations are e.g. in a provisional instruction sheetss entitled Antistatic industrial floors based on Araldite)> by Ciba Geigy from May 1975.
A synthetic resin mass has now been found which has a volume resistance of the order of 10 ohm x cm. This low resistance is achieved by incorporating expanded graphite (expanded graphite) into the synthetic resin, 5 to 20% by weight of expanded graphite being used, depending on the synthetic material used. The high conductivity of this synthetic resin-bound graphite is due to an increase in the specific surface area of the graphite by at least a factor of 10 after expansion. This results in a solid with similar electrical properties to graphite after curing of the synthetic resin by polymerization or polycondensation.
The expanded graphite can e.g. C-graphite (Lonza internal name for a graphite made of silicon carbide with extremely high conductivity).
Various cold-curing synthetic resins, in particular epoxy resins, unsaturated polyester resins, polyurethane resins, vinyl and acrylic ester resins, phenol-formaldehyde resins and furan resins, are suitable for the purposes of the invention.
example
On the well-cleaned masonry or concrete surfaces 1 of a basin 2, which is intended to hold a solution 3 of a strong electrolyte, a liquid-tight, electrically non-conductive insulation 4 (synthetic resin trowel film) is applied over an adhesive bridge (conventional primer). An electrically conductive synthetic resin composition 5 according to the invention is applied to this insulation in a thickness of 0.5 to 1.0 mm. This layer is drawn over the pool edge at 6 and cemented with an electrode 7. The actual liquid-tight synthetic resin coating or ceramic lining 8 is applied to the conductive layer 5, the conductive layer also serving as an adhesive bridge.
The electrode cemented with the conductive layer is installed in a circuit which, among other things, contains an ohmmeter 9 and a submersible electrode 10 which is in direct contact with the pool contents 3, which, as said, is a solution of a strong electrolyte. As long as this does not come into contact with the layer 5 made of the synthetic resin composition according to the invention, a high electrical resistance is measured, which decreases sharply when the liquid-tight synthetic resin coating or ceramic lining 8 leaks. As soon as the resistance falls below a certain value, an alarm system (not shown) coupled to the circuit comes into operation.
