Abstract

A multifilament starting yarn is airjet-textured, stretched without heating, then thermoset and subsequently wound to form a bobbin. The stretching without heating takes place in such a way that only part of the texturing is stretched. The thermosetting takes place with a lead of up to 10% of the stretched yarn length. Winding takes place at a lower speed than the feed of the non-textured starting yarn. The bobbins can be used directly for feeding in knitting and weaving machines. In the apparatus for carrying out the process, texturing, stretch stabilisation, thermosetting and winding take place in individual zones separated from one another by delivery units. The individual delivery units can be driven at an adjustable rotational speed, thus making any desired and individual stretching or lead of the yarn possible in every zone. The entry delivery unit of the texturing zone makes it possible to regulate the feed speed of the starting yarn. The exit delivery unit of the setting zone makes it possible, in cooperation with the winding device, to regulate the winding tension of the yarn.
