PATENT CLAIMS
1. System of coupling elements matched to one another in size and shape for connecting removable or fixed dental prostheses, characterized in that two matrices arranged next to one another are connected to one another by a male mold pushed into them.
2. System of coupling elements according to claim 1, characterized in that the male part is screwed, locked or pinned to one or both matrices.
3. System of coupling elements according to claim 1, characterized in that all essential parts are designed so that they are interchangeable with one another or with other parts belonging to the system and thus can be freely combined.
4. System of coupling elements according to claim 1, characterized in that the matrices are supplemented by other parts attached to the outside of them.
5. System of coupling elements according to claim 1, characterized in that the male molds consist of a more easily wearable material than the female molds.
The invention relates to a system of mutually coordinated coupling elements for connecting removable or fixed dental prosthesis parts with artificial crowns or for connecting artificial crowns to one another.
Known prefabricated coupling elements usually consist of a positive part, the male part, and a negative part, the female part, which supplements and encloses the male part. These are set up in such a way that they can be pushed into one another or on top of one another or connected to one another in a similar manner. In this way they create a coupling that can be separated by the wearer or dentist. Depending on the design, either the patrix or the matrix is firmly connected to an artificial crown integrated in the mouth. This connection is made by soldering or casting. The supplementary matrix or patrix is connected to a removable or permanently integrated tooth replacement part by soldering, casting or polymerisation.
The purpose of separability is, in addition to structural requirements, mainly wide-lying dental prostheses, as well as the possibility of expansion and repair.
The contact surfaces of these coupling elements are subject to wear and tear during use, be it through abrasion or bending, and also show signs of fatigue in the material, which can result in deterioration or even failure of the function. This has a particularly unfavorable effect on the part of the coupling element which is permanently installed in fixed crowns, since this part cannot be replaced without simultaneously removing the crown connected to it. Since such coupling elements are often attached not just to a crown but to a series of crowns or a bridge, these effects are even more disastrous.
In addition to the repair of such damage, there is often a need to change the design of a fixed dental prosthesis for other reasons, e.g. B.
when individual teeth die that have previously worn the dentures. In such cases, coupling elements are missing to which the dental prosthesis could be attached after the modification or - if such exist - there is no possibility of adapting these coupling elements to changed conditions.
The present invention is based on the object of eliminating the above-mentioned inadequacies and of making the wearable coupling part, which is particularly firmly attached to the dental prosthesis and permanently connected according to the previous methods, replaceable and thus adaptable to changed or different conditions. For this purpose, the possibility should be created of installing coupling elements in advance planning in larger fixed and removable dental prosthesis work.
According to the invention, this is achieved by creating a system of coupling elements which are matched to one another in size and shape and which essentially consists of two matrices arranged next to one another which are connected to one another by a male mold pushed into them. The patrix can be screwed, locked, splinted or just pushed into one or the other matrix. The matrices can be pushed over the patrix from above, below or from the side. From the two matrices z. B.
one is cast in a crown, while the other matrix is built into a removable or fixed dental prosthesis. The male part is then screwed to one or the other female part, depending on the design of the dental prosthesis. In another case z. B. cast both matrices in two adjacent crowns and screwed the patrix to both matrices.
The screwed, locked or splinted side of this coupling is practically not subject to any wear and tear, since its surfaces do not rub against each other, but are fixed immovably. As a rule, only the part of the male part over which the second female part is pushed is subject to wear.
If the patrix fails for this or any other reason or if a change in the denture construction is necessary, the patrix is easily removed after loosening the screw, the bolt or the split pin. The male part is then replaced by a new one with the same function or exchanged for another with a different function. The latter is z. B.
the case when a permanently integrated bridge is shortened after the loss of a terminal abutment tooth and the removed bridge part has to be replaced with a removable partial denture. These matrices can be installed individually or in pairs in advance planning in fixed dental prosthesis constructions where they are likely to be needed in order to then be able to accommodate coupling elements if necessary.
In the accompanying drawings, the coupling system described above is shown in an exemplary embodiment. All matrices are marked with a, all patrices with b, the fastening screws or resilient bolts with c.
In Figs. 1 to 3, the basic form of the coupling system is shown, for. B. applicable between two crowns or a crown and the pontic of a bridge.
1 shows a plan view of such a coupling, al representing the two identical matrices, b1 the male part supplementing the two matrices and c1 the two fastening screws. Fig. 2 shows this coupling in vertical section seen from the rear, Fig. 3 shows the same in vertical section seen from the side.
In FIGS. 4 to 7 it is shown how one die a1 is replaced by a differently shaped die a2, as well as the male part bl by a differently shaped male part b2.
This combination is used e.g. B. between a crown and a pontic, if a rear pillar has only a short life expectancy and the fixed bridge dentures are later to be partially converted into a removable denture. This combination can also be used in fixed bridges in hygienically unfavorable conditions in order to be able to carry out subsequent cleaning or changes.
Fig. 4 shows the plan view, Fig. 5 shows a vertical section of
seen from the rear, FIGS. 6 and 7 each show a vertical section seen from the side. In FIG. 6 the male part is screwed to the female part a2 by the screw c1, whereas in FIG. 7, instead of the screw, a resilient double cone c2 is screwed to the female part. The connection of FIG. 7 can be released by the carrier itself and is e.g. B. indicated for removable, mucosal-supported dentures.
In FIGS. 8 to 11, a further variant of the coupling system shown in FIGS. 4 to 7 can be seen, which corresponds to this in everything, only the die a3 is shaped differently, correspondingly also the male part b3. In contrast to the male part a2, this is designed in such a way that it z. B. can be better adapted to a receding alveolar ridge. The field of application is otherwise the same as that of the exemplary embodiment in FIGS. 4 to 7.
FIGS. 12 to 17 show some examples of the application of this coupling system. Fig. 12 shows the combination al-b1-al between two crowns. 13 shows the combination al-b2-a2 and cg between a crown and a bridge pontic. 14 shows the combination a1-b3-a3 and c2 between a crown and a mucous membrane-mounted, rearwardly extending removable dental prosthesis with a shrunken alveolar ridge. 15 shows the combination a1-b-a2 in the case of a removable dental prosthesis mounted on the mucous membrane towards the front. 16 and 17 schematically show an example of a supplementary part for connection and reinforcement with a removable tooth replacement part supported by the mucous membrane.
A system of coupling elements is created by means of male dies, which connect two adjacent matrices and which are secured by screws, bolts, cotter pins or just by friction with one or both matrices, which creates an easily separable, exchangeable and changeable coupling between artificial tooth crowns and fixed ones or detachable dental prostheses or artificial crowns among each other. All essential parts of this system are matched in size and shape so that they are interchangeable with others that fulfill the same or different function. The function of such coupling elements can always be restored or adapted to new conditions.
