This invention relates to an apparatus for pressing panels and a method of operating the apparatus.
These are panels that are basically made of a mixture of fibrous filler material, such as. B. wood chips, and appropriate binders and hardeners, such as. B.
Cement and water. This flaky mixture is spread evenly on carrier plates, which are stacked into a package for pressing. The compression ratio of the compression is generally between 1: 2 and 1: 4 and the specific peak pressures required for this between 10 and 25 kp / cm2. The panels are cured under pressure; the curing time varies depending on the binder and temperature and can be 8 or more hours.
The panels are generally produced in lengths of up to approx. 4 m, in widths up to approx. 1.5 m and in thicknesses between 6 and 40 mm. They serve as building and construction material.
To this day, panels are manufactured in such a way that the flaky panel material is poured onto transport plates to form a uniform mat, after which these are stacked on the lower pressing plate of a clamping device. After a certain stack height has been reached, an upper press plate is placed, the entire package is pressed in a hydraulic press, thereby compacting the plate material. While still under pressure, the upper and lower press plates are connected to one another by attaching tension straps or tie rods to the sides. The clamping device is removed from the press in this clamped state and placed under pressure in an air-conditioned chamber to harden the panels. Since the curing times can be 8 or more hours, a larger number of clamping devices, such as
B. 12 to 25 pieces can be used. After curing, the clamping device is put under pressure again in the press to release the pull tabs.
The main disadvantages of this manufacturing method and equipment, which have been in use up to now, are the high acquisition and installation costs for the large hydraulic press, which is also used very poorly in this production process, as it only has a stroke every 15 to 30 minutes executes. Another disadvantage is the high cost of the clamping devices required in large numbers. Furthermore, a number of climatic chambers corresponding to the number of clamping devices are necessary, which require a lot of space and, together with the necessary transport devices, again represent a considerable investment.
The object of the invention is to get by without the expensive hydraulic press, without the hardening chambers with the associated transport devices and with less effort for the clamping devices, thereby drastically reducing investments and at the same time improving the pressing process itself and simplifying the workflow. This also makes it possible to build small systems and operate them economically.
The invention solves this problem with a device for pressing panels stacked in packages, in particular building panels made of wood chips and cement, which is characterized by an open-topped tank with connections for supply and exhaust air, with a loose tank lid and an overlying yoke which passes through suitable connecting elements in several levels can be connected to the side walls of the tank until the tank is completely closed, with one or more pressure cushions which can be expanded by compressed air or a liquid being arranged between the tank lid and the yoke. The three operations: pressing, maintaining negative pressure and hardening in the climate inside the closed tank that can be influenced can thus be carried out in one and the same device, with pressing being carried out by pressing the pressure pad several times.
The plate material is therefore milled in each partial stroke and a denser structure is achieved. The invention also relates to the method of operating this device.
To achieve the best material utilization and the associated financial advantages, a composite structure made of steel and concrete can be used for the production of the statically highly stressed parts of the device.
An exemplary embodiment of the device according to the invention is shown in the accompanying drawing, and the method for operating the same is explained in the description.
Fig. 1 shows a cross section through the device, along the section line X-X in Fig. 4. Fig. 1 shows the device at the end of the pressing process, at the time of the hardening phase, with the plate pack under pressure.
Fig. 2 shows, on a smaller scale, the lower part of the tank without a cover in cross section, after the same has been loaded with transport plates with scattered plate material.
Fig. 3 shows on a smaller scale the entire device in the end view, with the cover and the yoke just put on, at the beginning of the pressing process.
FIG. 4 shows, on a smaller scale, a side view of the closed device, in the same state as shown in FIG.
The plate material 1 is on transport plates 2 with fla
Chen or structured surfaces, which are stacked on the tank bottom 3, sprinkled on. The rollers 4 allow the device to be moved within the factory. When the device is closed, the tank lid 5 rests on the tank walls 6 and thus determines the height of the pressed plate pack. Toothings 7, which extend over the entire length and into which the latch arms 8 engage, are attached to the two longitudinal walls of the tank.
The tank bottom 3 and yoke 9 are thus connected to one another in a form-fitting manner to form a frame via the plate-shaped latch arms 8 arranged on both sides, the teeth 7 and the joints 10. The pressure on the plate pack is generated by a pressure pad 11. When the pressure pad 11 is filled and pressurized, the tank cover 5 is pressed down and the plate material is compressed, the yoke 9 absorbing the reaction forces via the latch arms 8. When the pressure medium is subsequently released from the pressure pad, the yoke 9 lowers and the pawl arms 8 follow up in the teeth 7. The pressure pad 11 is made of a flexible material, such as. B. neoprene, made and kept in the dimensions equal to or slightly larger than the plate format. As a result, the pressing forces are exerted directly and evenly on the entire surface of the panels.
The pressure medium is supplied through the connection 12 and drained again. In order to increase the single stroke and thus the working speed, several pressure pads can be used one on top of the other.
Tank bottom 3 and yoke 9 are subjected to high bending stresses due to the pressing process. The tensile stresses arising in these parts are absorbed by the outer skin 13 made of steel and the compressive stresses are absorbed by the filler body 14 made of concrete. For a good utilization of the material, the shape of the outer skin 13 is chosen to be elliptical or semicircular in cross section.
The device is operated as follows:
Transport sheets 2 with heaped material 1 are stacked on the tank bottom 3, as shown in FIG. The tank cap 5 with the pressure pad 11 lying thereon and which is flat in this state and the yoke 9 with the pawl arms 8 swinging thereon is placed on the plate stack by a hoist 15 and the pawl arms are brought into engagement at the upper ends of the teeth 7, as shown in FIG. 3 shown.
The pressure pad 11 is expanded and the plate material is pressed and compressed. By repeating this process several times, there is not only a step-by-step downward movement of the tank cap 5 and subsequently also of the yoke 9 and thus a noticeably greater compression of the material, but also the desired flexing process with each partial stroke, which causes the material parts to become increasingly intertwined.
As soon as the tank cap 5 rests on the tank walls, the tank is closed, the pressing process is finished, but the pressure pad is left under pressure until the plates have hardened so far that they have achieved sufficient strength for stacking.
The pressure, humidity and temperature conditions required for the hardening of the panels in the closed tank can be achieved by supplying warm air through nozzle 16 and draining it through nozzle 17.
The same can also be achieved by supplying heat energy, in the form of e.g. B. hot water, which is passed through the connections 18 through a built-in heat exchanger, which can be carried out in connection with an internal air circulation by means of one or more fan-motor units 19. The tank walls can be insulated on all sides to improve the heat balance.
By releasing the pressure medium from the pressure pad 11, the latch arms are released. After these have been swiveled out, the tank lid with pressure pad, yoke and latch arms can again be lifted off using the hoist and the pressed plates can be removed.
