1.
Oxyde, Hydroxyde, Sulfide und die Salze der schwachen Säuren, der Metalle aus den Gruppen la, Ib, IIa und IIb des periodischen Systems, wie Magnesiumoxyd, Kalziumoxyd, Berylliumoxyd, Lithiumhydroxyd, Natriumhydroxyd, Kaliumhydroxyd, Rubidiumhydroxyd, Cäsiumhydroxyd, Bariumhydroxyd, Lithiumbicarbonat, Natriumbicarbonat, Kaliumbicarbonat, Rubidiumbicarbonat, Lithiumcarbonat, Natriumcarbonat, Kaliumcarbonat, Natriumazetat, Kaliumazetat, Natriumborat, Kaliumborat, Natriumsulfit, Kaliumsulfit, Natriumthiosulfat, Kaliumthiosulfat, Trikaliumphosphat, Trinatriumphosphat, Dikaliumphosphat, Dinatriumphosphat, Kaliumpermanganat, Natriumchromat, Natriumsulfid, Kaliumsulfid, Natriumphenolat, Kaliumphenolat, Natriumbenzoat, Kaliumtartrat und Tetranatriumäthylendiaminotetraazetat.
2. Ammoniak und Ammoniumcarbonat.

4. Primäre Amine, sekundäre Amine, tertiäre Amine, quaternäre Ammoniumhydroxyde und ähnliche stickstoffhaltige, basische Verbindungen, wie Monomethylamin, Dimethylamin, Trimethylamin, Monoäthylamin, Diäthylamin, Triäthylamin, Mono-n-propylamin, Di-n-propylamin, Tri-n-propylamin, Monoisopropylamin, Di-isopropylamin-n-butylamin, Isobutylamin, Sekundärbutylamin, Tertiärbutylamin, Pentylamin, Hexylamin, Heptylamin, Oktylamin, Cyklohexylamin, Äthanolamin, Diäthanolamin, Triäthanolamin, Isopropanolamin, Di-isopropanolamin, Tri-isopropanolamin, Anilin, Benzyldimethylamin, Triphenylamin, Benzylamin, Äthyldiamin, 1,2-Propylendiamin, 1,3-Propylendiamin, Diäthylentriamin, Triäthylentetramin, Äthylenimin, Propylenimin, Piperazin, Morphorin, Pyridin, Pyrazin, Pyrimidin, Pyrazol, 1,8-Diaza-bicyklo(5, 4,0)undecem-7, Tetramethylammoniumhydroxyd,

draws that the 1-hydroxylaminoanthraquinone in the presence of an ethylene glycol monoalkyl ether of the general formula (III) is reduced, in which formula R is an alkyl group with 1-8 carbon atoms and n is 0 or 1, the reduction using gaseous hydrogen together takes place with a hydrogenation catalyst.
28. The method according to claim 27, characterized in that the reduction of the 1-hydroxylaminoanthraquinone is carried out at a temperature of 20-150C.
The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of 1-aminoanthraquinone with the general formula (1), in which R1 and R2 each represent a hydrogen atom or a methyl group and X an amino group, from 5-nitro-1,4,4a, 9a-tetrahydroanthraquinone according to the general formula (II), in which R1 and R2 each represent a hydrogen atom or a methyl group.
1-Aminoanthraquinones according to the general formula (I) have great economic value as intermediates in the production of dyes and pigments.
So far, one of the following two processes has therefore been used in the industrial production of 1-aminoanthraquinone, which is the most important of all aminoanthraquinones:
1. By sulfonating anthraquinone, an anthraquinone sulfonic acid is produced, which is then aminated.
2. 1-Nitroanthraquinone is produced by nitration of anthraquinone, which is then reduced.
However, these two processes have various disadvantages, which are explained below:
The first process requires the use of a mercury compound as a catalyst to sulfonate the anthraquinone. This mercury compound is very difficult to remove from the reaction mixture and also pollutes the waste water and the end product, which inevitably leads to environmental pollution.
In the second process, it is very difficult to obtain an end product of the highest purity, since dinitro compounds are inevitably formed as by-products.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to propose a process for the preparation of 1-aminoanthraquinone from 5-nitro-1,4,4a, 9a-tetrahydroanthraquinone which no longer has the aforementioned disadvantages. The inventive method of the type mentioned is characterized in that a 5-nitro-1,4,4a, 9a-tetrahydroanthraquinone with the general formula (11) in which R and R2 have the meanings mentioned above, in a liquid medium with a reducing, basic substance or with a combination of reducing substance and basic compound is treated.
Exemplary embodiments of the method according to the invention are explained in more detail below.
The 5-nitro-1, 4,4a, 9a-tetrahydroanthraquinones which are used as starting material can easily be obtained by adding butadienes to 5-nitro-1,4-naphthoquinones in a Diels-Alder reaction. Due to this fact, the method according to the present invention is very suitable for the industrial production of
1-aminoanthraquinone with the general formula (I).
The 5-nitro-1,4-naphthoquinone can e.g. B. by electrolytic oxidation of 1-nitro-naphthalene or by Nitrie tion of 1,4-naphthoquinone. With regard to the nitration process, reference should be made in particular to the process according to Swiss patent no. 596 136, which gives excellent results in the production of 5-nitro-1,4-naphthoquinone. In addition to 5-nitro-1, 4,4a, 9a-tetrahydroanthraquinone, 2- or 3-methyl-5-nitro-1, 4,4a, 9a-tetrahydroanthraquinone and 2,3-dimethyl-5-nitro-1 are used as starting materials , 4,4a, 9a-tetrahydroanthraquinone are possible.
It is of crucial importance for carrying out the proposed method that the reaction is carried out in the presence of a basic compound. However, it is sufficient if this basic compound is only present in such an amount that the reaction mixture remains basic. Any of the generally known basic substances can be used as the basic compound, in particular e.g. B .:
1.
Oxides, hydroxides, sulphides and the salts of weak acids, metals from groups Ia, Ib, IIa and IIb of the periodic table, such as magnesium oxide, calcium oxide, beryllium oxide, lithium hydroxide, sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, rubidium hydroxide, cesium hydroxide, barium hydroxide, sodium bicarbonate , Potassium bicarbonate, rubidium bicarbonate, lithium carbonate, sodium carbonate, potassium carbonate, sodium acetate, potassium acetate, sodium borate, potassium borate, sodium sulfite, potassium sulfite, sodium thiosulfate, potassium thiosulfate, tripotassium phosphate, trisodium phosphate, dipotassium phosphate, sodium sulfate, sodium sulfate, sodium sulfate, sodium sulfate, sodium sulfate, sodium sulfate, sodium sulfate, sodium sulfate, potassium sulfate, sodium phosphate phosphate, sodium phosphate phosphate, sodium phosphate phosphate, potassium sulfate phosphate, sodium phosphate phosphate, potassium phosphate phosphate, potassium phosphate phosphate, potassium phosphate phosphate and tetrasodium ethylenediaminetetraacetate.
2. ammonia and ammonium carbonate.
3. Alcoholates of metals from groups Ia and IIa of the periodic table, such as lithium methylate, sodium methylate, potassium methylate, sodium ethylate, potassium ethylate, magnesium ethylate, calcium ethylate, sodium isopropylate, potassium isopropylate, calcium isopropylate, magnesium isopropylate, sodium butoxide, potassiumb.
4. Primary amines, secondary amines, tertiary amines, quaternary ammonium hydroxides and similar nitrogen-containing, basic compounds, such as monomethylamine, dimethylamine, trimethylamine, monoethylamine, diethylamine, triethylamine, mono-n-propylamine, di-n-propylamine, tri-n-propylamine , Monoisopropylamine, di-isopropylamine-n-butylamine, isobutylamine, secondary butylamine, tertiary butylamine, pentylamine, hexylamine, heptylamine, octylamine, cyclohexylamine, ethanolamine, diethanolamine, triethanolamine, isopropanolamine, di-isopropanolamine, tri-isopropylamine, tri-isopropylamine , Ethylenediamine, 1,2-propylenediamine, 1,3-propylenediamine, diethylenetriamine, triethylenetetramine, ethyleneimine, propylenimine, piperazine, morphorine, pyridine, pyrazine, pyrimidine, pyrazole, 1,8-diaza-bicyclo (5, 4.0) undecem -7, tetramethylammonium hydroxide,
Tetraethylammonium hydroxide, tetra-n-propylammonium hydroxide, tetra-n-butylammonium hydroxide, benzyldimethylammonium hydroxide, phenyltriethylammonium hydroxide, dimethyl diethylammonium hydroxide, urea, thiourea, methyl and ethyl esters of glycine and the like.
In the process according to the present invention, the following compounds have proven to be particularly advantageous:
Hydroxides, carbonates, bicarbonates, sulfides, phosphates and thiosulphates of the alkali metals; Calcium hydroxide, barium hydroxide, ammonia, alkylamines, urea, pyridines and quaternary ammonium hydroxides. The basic compound is advantageously used in an amount of at least 0.01, but preferably 0.1-100 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the compound represented by the general formula (all). If a strongly basic compound, such as. B. sodium hydroxide, sodium sulfide, sodium phenolate, sodium alkoxide or quaternary ammonium hydroxide for ver
is used, it is advantageous to use it in an amount of 0.01-1 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the compound of the general formula (II). If, however, a weakly basic, non-reducing compound, such as. B. a liquid amine, sodium acetate, disodium phosphate or sodium bicarbonate is selected, it can be used in an amount of 1-100 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the compound according to the general formula (II).
When carrying out the process according to the invention, it can be advantageous to carry out the reaction in the liquid phase. Any liquid which is stable in an oxidizing or reducing environment can be used as the liquid reaction medium. For example:
Water, methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, butanol or similar alcohols; Ethylene glycol monomethyl ether (Methyl Cellosolve), ethylene glycol monobutyl ether and similar glycol ethers; Ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, propylene glycol and like glycols; Benzene, toluene, xylene, and like aromatic hydrocarbons; Ligroin, acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, tetrahydrofuran, dimethylformamide, dimethyl sulfoxide, pyridine, ethanolamine and similar solvents, as well as mixtures of the compounds mentioned.
When carrying out the process according to the invention, it is not absolutely necessary to completely dissolve the 5-nitro-1,4,4a, 9a-tetrahydroanthraquinone used as the starting product in the liquid medium, since the reaction also takes place in a suspension. In order to achieve an effective separation of the end product, i. H. To achieve the 1-aminoanthraquinone, it is advantageous to reduce the solubility of the same in the liquid medium. This can be achieved by using a mixture as the solvent which contains water, ligroin or a similarly poor solvent, or by adding such a poor solvent to the reaction mixture after the reaction has been completed in order to increase the solubility of the end product in the liquid medium to diminish.
In the production of 1-aminoanthraquinone, any known compound which has the ability to reduce a nitro compound into an amino compound can be used as a reducing agent. As representative examples of reducing agents the following can be given:
Hydrogen sulfide, hydrosulfides, such as. B. lithium hydrosulfide, sodium hydrosulfide, potassium hydrosulfide, rubidium hydrosulfide and ammonium hydrosulfide; Sulfides such as B. lithium sulfide, sodium sulfide, potassium sulfide, cesium sulfide and ammonium sulfide; Disulfides and polysulfides, such as. B. sodium disulfide, sodium polysulfide, potassium disulfide, potassium polysulfide, ammonium disulfide and ammonium polysulfide.
Further similar sulfur-containing compounds and also elemental sulfur, ammonia, metallic zinc, metallic iron, metallic aluminum, metallic magnesium, metallic nickel, catalytically activated hydrogen, sugar such as. B. glucose, fructose, sucrose and maltose, paraformaldehyde, oxalic acid and its salts, formic acid and its salts, ascorbic acid and its salts and the like.
In the practical implementation of the process according to the present invention on an industrial scale, the following reducing agents have proven to be particularly advantageous:
Hydrogen sulfide, ammonium sulfide, sodium sulfide, sodium disulfide, elemental sulfur and metallic zinc. It is advantageous to use the reducing agent in excess, i.e. H. in a larger amount than is necessary for the complete reduction of the starting material 5-nitro-1,4,4a, 9a-tetrahydroanthraquinone. An amount of 2-6 oxidation-reduction equivalents per mole of the starting material has proven to be optimal. After completion of the reaction, the excess reducing agent can be recovered for reuse.
The reaction temperature can be in the range from 0-200 ° C., but preferably in the range from 30-150 ° C. The best results, however, were achieved in a temperature range of 50-110 ° C. In the preparation of 1-aminoanthraquinone, a reaction time from 1-20 hours to be expected.
If the above-mentioned findings are utilized, 1-aminoanthraquinone can be constantly produced with a quantitatively high yield. It has also been found that the presence of water in the alcohol as the reaction medium favors the further processing of the reaction mixture after the reaction has been completed. This is because the presence of a small amount of water in the reaction system reduces the solubility of the reaction product 1-aminoanthraquinone, so that it can be more easily isolated in the form of crystals. Furthermore, the formation of higher value reaction products, such as. B. by anthrones, which can arise as a result of an excessive reduction as a result of an excess of metal.
In addition, the metal salt formed is dissolved. These effects occur especially when the weight ratio of alcohol to (alcohol + water) is at least 0.2, but better about 0.5.
It has been found that at a weight ratio of less than 0.2, the reaction rate is very low, the 1-aminoanthraquinone crystals formed becoming so small that they can no longer be filtered off.
In the examples that now follow, all amounts and percentages are based on weight.
