Abstract

The barrier device is placed at the downstream end of a conveyor belt which brings the sheets to a stacking station. When the stack thus formed is unloaded, the conveyor belt must be stopped and the barrier retains the sheets on the belt as it slows down. The barrier device is composed of a pressure roller (61) which is mounted so as to rotate on a shaft (69), the ends of which are respectively mounted in slots of the lower ends of two associated arms (62, 63) and can be fixed thereto. The arms (62, 63) are keyed (wedged) on a shaft (64) mounted in the stand (68) of the stacking device. This shaft is driven via a lever (65) by a pneumatic or hydraulic cylinder (66) so as to open the barrier. The pressure roller (61) interacts with a conveyor roller (71) which is placed beneath the latter, near the end of the conveyor belt. When the last sheets gripped between these rollers have been ejected, a microswitch (67) is actuated, which triggers the unloading of the stack of sheets from the side. <IMAGE>
