Abstract
The machine comprises a first tray (1) containing water for receiving mushrooms to be processed which are transported by the stream of water to a second tray from which they are removed via a continuous rotating belt (6). Subsequently the mushrooms are conveyed forwards by a selecting device (8) comprising a series of converging belts, from where they then fall, depending on the size of the head, first the smallest ones followed by the largest ones, onto inclined surfaces (11) and then onto guides (15) where they are oriented with the stipe downwards, guides along which thin cables (16) run so as to transport them to the cutting devices consisting of continuous and rotating toothed belts, the first of which (17) cuts off the soiled end of the stipe to be discarded and the second of which (29) cuts off a section of the stipe which is to be used. <IMAGE>
