Abstract

The process consists in depositing, by immersion, a layer of a boron oxide solution onto a silica bar and a silica tube, in sintering this layer, in inserting the bar into the tube and then in heating and drawing the bar/tube assembly. The optical fibres produced by this process can be used for optical telecommunications.
