Abstract
Tubular filter element which is charged in the interior with bulk filler material as supporting medium. The filler material is composed of porous packing which, to increase the chemical and physical resistance, is coated with plastic.

PATENTANSPRUCH

PATENT CLAIM
Filter element for boiler pressure filters, consisting of a tubular filter medium, which is closed on its lower side and open on its attached upper side and whose interior is filled with loose filler material, characterized in that porous fillers coated with plastic are used as filler material.
SUBClaim
Filter element according to patent claim, characterized in that the plastic coating consists of thermoplastics, duroplastics, elastomers or cellulose derivatives.
The invention relates to a tubular filter element.
According to the claim of the main patent, the filter element for boiler pressure filters consists of a tubular filter medium, which is closed on its lower side and open on its attached upper side and characterized in that the interior of the filter medium is filled with loose filler material.
An older proposal teaches the use of porous filling material which has a specific gravity of less than one. This material made of expanded clay is characterized by its resistance to almost all common chemicals, but has disadvantages for certain applications due to its porosity.
The object of the invention is to create a filling material for the filter element according to the main patent, the porosity of which is reduced or eliminated.
According to the invention, this object is achieved in that porous fillers which are coated with plastic are used as filler material.
A preferred embodiment of the fillers for the filter element according to the invention consists in a coating of expanded clay bodies with epoxy resin or any other thermosetting plastic, depending on the chemicals to be filtered and the operating temperature. However, other plastic coatings, such as PVC or other thermoplastics, but also elastomers and cellulose derivatives can be used for certain applications.
The thickness of the coating can be freely selected, as can the complete or partial closure of the pores of the filler material.
