PATENTANSPRÜCHE
B. Journal of Organometallic Chemistry 10 (1967), 247-256.
Leptinotarsa decemlineata).

Homogengranulate.) Flüssige Aufarbeitungsformen: a) in Wasser dispergierbare Spritzpulver,

PATENT CLAIMS
1. Use of dimethyl tin diacetate for combating insects which are harmful to plants in plant crops.
2. Use of dimethyl tin diacetate according to claim 1 for combating plant-damaging feeding insects in crops of useful plants.
3. Use of dimethyltin diacetate according to claim 2 for combating plant-damaging feeding insects in vegetable crops.
The present invention relates to the use of dimethyltin diacetate for combating insects which are harmful to plants.
The use of organotin compounds to combat various parasites, such as. B. bacteria, fungi, insects, representatives of the order Akarina and harmful rodents and in the field of material protection has long been known. For example, U.S. Patent No. 3,544,608 and Canadian Patent No.
905 286 a number of organotin compounds and the like a.
Dimethyltin iodide, diethyltin dinitrate, dimethyltin dicyanate, bis (tributyltin) maleate, dimethyltin oxide and dimethyltin-bis-isooctyl-mercapto-acetate as an agent for combating insects such. B. Mosquitoes and ectoparasites of pets and farm animals are described.
There has been no lack of attempts to control insects and other pests in plant crops using such organotin compounds with a pesticidal effect. For the most part, however, these compounds are strongly to very strongly phytotoxic and are therefore unsuitable for controlling plant pests.
It has now surprisingly been found that the dimethyltin diacetate used according to the invention has a very favorable effect against plant-damaging feeding insects, in particular of the order Lepidoptera and Colleoptera, but, in contrast to other organotin compounds, has no or only very low phytotoxicity.
Since the tin compounds closest to the dimethyl tin diacetate, such as. B. dimethyl tin formate do not have any remarkable insecticidal properties, it is particularly surprising that the tin salt used according to the invention has the valuable properties described.
Furthermore, the dimethyl tin diacetate is compared to other organotin pesticides such. B. the volatile trialkyltin halides described in DOS 1,139,691 are very stable and also has the advantage of being significantly less toxic to warm-blooded animals, which is of particular importance for an insecticide in view of the increasing interest in environmental protection.
The compound used according to the invention itself, d. H.
Dimethyl tin diacetate and methods for their preparation are already known; see. z. B. Journal of Organometallic Chemistry (1967) 10: 247-256. However, their special properties regarding phytotoxicity and insecticidal effectiveness were previously unknown and are described here for the first time.
The present invention thus relates to the use of dimethyltin diacetate for combating insects which are harmful to plants in crops of plants, in particular useful plant crops, and especially for combating harmful feeding insects in cotton crops (such as, for example, Heliothis virescens and Spodoptera littoralis) and in vegetable crops (such as, for example, .
Leptinotarsa decemlineata). It should be noted that with individual insect species, such as. B. Heliothis virescens, both an ovicidal or larvicidal effect and an effect against adults occurs.
The application rates must be adapted to the circumstances (crop plants, climate, time of application, etc.) and are advantageously between 100 and 1000 g, usually between 250 and 750 g of dimethyl tin diacetate per hectare.
The insecticidal effect of the dimethyltin diacetate used according to the invention can be significantly broadened by adding other insecticides and adapted to the specified circumstances.
