Abstract

In order to be able to transform the volume and sound impression of a quietly played instrument note into the volume and the sound impression of a loudly played note of the instrument concerned, it must also be possible to change the sound impression. The volume control arrangement intended for this purpose for an electro-acoustic system contains a frequency-selective circuit arrangement (30, 32) with an amplitude/frequency characteristic which has at least a maximum in the audio frequency range corresponding to the passband of a band filter, so that the frequency characteristic has a formant character. Furthermore, an additional circuit arrangement (36, 38) is provided which changes the frequency of the maximum according to the setting of the amplification factor, in particular increasing it with an increasing amplification factor. Account is thereby taken of the fact that the frequency of the formant ranges is shifted in the sounds of conventional musical instruments when a change in volume occurs. <IMAGE>
