Abstract

Preparation of a new photosensitive product, 2,3-di(2,3-diiodo-propyloxy)propylcellulose. This product is prepared by reacting a dihalopropyl ether of cellulose with an alkali metal allylate in solution in allyl alcohol, so as to form 2,3-di(allyloxy)propylcellulose and by then performing a reaction of iodine addition to the allyl groups of this latter compound. The said dihalopropyl ether of cellulose may be in the form of fibres; photosensitive fibres of 2,3-di(2,3-diiodo propyloxy)propylcellulose are then obtained. These fibres can be employed for the manufacture of a photosensitive material consisting of a sheet in which at least the surface portion of at least one of the faces contains 2,3-di(2,3-diiodo propyloxy)propylcellulose.
