The invention relates to a flashback-proof oxy-fuel torch with a handle and a welding insert detachably inserted therein, wherein the gases which can be supplied by corresponding regulating valves can be mixed in a first injector stage to form a combustible gas mixture.
In older welding torches that worked according to the principle of equal pressure, if the pressure regulators were not working accurately, the oxygen could easily flow back into the fuel gas line or the fuel gas could blow back into the oxygen line. Flashbacks often led to the gas supply hoses bursting, cylinder fires or explosions.
Modern oxy-fuel burners working on the injector principle are much safer in this respect. Nevertheless, it can happen, for example if the burner mouth is blocked. that oxygen is pushed back into the fuel gas line, which leads to the formation of combustible gas mixtures in the hoses with the corresponding consequences.
The object of the invention is to create a flashback-proof oxy-fuel burner of the type mentioned at the outset, in which this risk is avoided.
According to the invention, this is achieved in that a second injector stage through which the gas mixture can flow is provided, which consists of an injector part and a nozzle element projecting coaxially into a recess of the latter, and in that a conical space which is delimited by the nozzle head and tapering towards the front is arranged in the recess and is connected to the outside air in such a way that a negative pressure can be generated by the flowing gas and outside air can be sucked in.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawings. Show it:
1 shows a side view of an oxy-fuel torch with a handle and a welding insert that can be inserted therein,
FIG. 2 shows a longitudinal section through the front part of the handle and the rear part of the welding insert according to FIG. 1 on a larger scale
3 shows a longitudinal section of the now assembled parts according to FIG. 2 on an even larger scale.
The autogenous welding torch shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 has a handle 1, which is provided at the rear with connections 2, 3 for the oxygen or acetylene supply and in the front end of which exchangeable welding inserts of various sizes can be inserted and fixed by the union nut 4 are. The illustrated welding insert 5 has an injector part 6 with two nozzle elements 7 and 8. The first nozzle element 7 is screwed into the second nozzle element 8 and the latter in turn is screwed into the injector part 6. Furthermore, the welding insert 5 consists of a pipe bend 9 which is also screwed into the injector part 6, the tip of which carries the exchangeable burner head 10. An O-ring 32 and a metallic sealing ring 11 are arranged on the injector part and cooperate with the union nut 4 in order to fasten the welding insert 5 tightly in the handle.
The handle 1 has a handle 12 with two regulating valves 13, 14 for regulating the supply of oxygen or acetylene. The axial oxygen channel 15 coming from the oxygen regulating valve 13 and the axially offset acetylene channel 16 coming from the acetylene regulating valve 14 both open into the internally threaded connection bore 17 of the handle 12, into which a connecting sleeve 18 is screwed and its rear end part 19 tightly against the bottom of the bore 17 is pressed in such a way that the oxygen flows through the central axial bore 20 and the acetylene flows through the axial bore 21 of the end part 19, which is offset from the center. The union nut 4 sits on the front end part 22 of the connecting sleeve 18, and an outer protective sleeve 23 is arranged approximately in the center of the connecting sleeve 18.
The whole, together with the handle 12, forms the handle 1.
After the welding insert 5 has been inserted and fixed in the handle 1, the free end of the first nozzle element 7 comes to sit in an extension 24 of the axial bore 20 of the end part 19, the end being sealed against the extension 24 by an O-ring 32. The oxygen flows through the central longitudinal bore 25 in the first nozzle element 7, reaches a bore constriction 26 and flows at high speed from the nozzle head into a larger conical bore 27 in the second nozzle element 8, which conical bore 27 tapers towards the front and into an axial bore 28 merges in the second element 8.
The acetylene in turn passes from the axially offset bore 21 in the end part 19 into an outer annular space 29 which is delimited by the outer surface of the end 30 of the second nozzle element 8 protruding from the injector part 6 and the cylindrical inner wall 34 of the connecting sleeve 19, with a further, O-ring 32 arranged in an annular groove 31 of the second nozzle element 8 and resting on the inner wall 34 seals the outer annular space 29 towards the front. The rear metallic seal is provided by the conical support 33 between the second nozzle element 8 and the edge zone of the bore widening 24, the second nozzle element 8 being pressed against this edge zone by the union nut 4.
From the outer annular space 29, the acetylene passes through a radial bore 35 in the second nozzle element 8 into an inner annular space 36 between the nozzle head 37 of the first nozzle element 7 and a cylindrical recess 38 of the second nozzle element 8, into which the head 37 projects coaxially. The inner annular space 29 is conical
Bore 27 in connection, so that the negative pressure generated by the oxygen jet sucks in the acetylene according to the injector principle.
In the axial bore 28 in the second nozzle element 8, a combustible gas mixture is already flowing, which in turn flows in an injector-like manner from the conical nozzle head 39 of the second nozzle element 8 into a conical space 40 'of a recess 40 which tapers towards the front and merges into an axial bore 41 in the injector part 6 in this part 6 flows. Due to the negative pressure generated in the conical space 40 ', via a radial bore 42 in the injector part 6 that is connected to this space 40', furthermore via an associated radial bore 43 in the connecting sleeve 18 and via an annular gap 44 provided between the latter and the outer protective sleeve 23 , which is open to the outside on one side and into which the radial bore 43 opens, sucked in air.
In the axial bore 41 of the injector part 6, which gradually widens towards the front, a mixture of oxygen, acetylene and air now flows, which mixture is fed through the pipe bend 9 into the combustion head 10 to a welding point.
If the burner head is clogged, the oxygen-acetylene mixture flowing in can escape to the outside from the space 40 'and does not flow any further back into the handle. The annular gap 44, which is open towards the front, forces the mixture to flow out towards the front, which means protection for the operator, especially in the event of a flashback.
Both the first and the second nozzle element are exchangeable, with the second nozzle element in particular having to be selected accordingly depending on the desired flame temperature and the proportion of air in the mixture. Of course, another fuel gas could be used instead of acetylene.
