The present invention relates to very high sensitivity electromagnetic relays, called sensitive relays, which require very low energy to operate.
A sensitive relay generally comprises: a magnetic circuit formed of a fixed armature called the yoke and a movable armature called the pallet which covers the breech and closes the magnetic circuit, a permanent magnet charged, by magnetic attraction, to hold the pallet glued to the cylinder head, with an antagonist spring tending to detach the blade from the cylinder head and a demagnetization coil placed on the cylinder head which, by opposing the magnetic field of the magnet, makes it possible to cause the takeoff of the cylinder head. palette.
The relay operates on take-off. The pallet is normally in the bonding position, that is to say resting on the pole pieces of the cylinder head. It is brought into this position by a rearming device. It is held in this position by the magnet, the magnetic field of which is adjusted to generate on the pallet, in the bonding position, a holding force greater than the antagonistic force exerted by the spring. The reluctance of the magnetic circuit formed by the cylinder head and the pallet in the bonding position is very low, because this circuit only includes residual air gaps which are made as small as possible by precise machining of the pole pieces of the cylinder head and of the pallet. .
As a result, the energy to be injected into the demagnetization coil to decrease the flux of the magnet and release the pallet is considerably reduced compared to that required in a conventional type relay to obtain the attraction of the magnet. movable frame.
Sensitive sticking relays have many applications.
They are used in particular in differential protection devices. They nevertheless have various drawbacks. Their operating threshold is not adjustable. It is fixed once and for all by adjusting the field of the magnet. Also, they don't have the maximum sensitivity one might expect. In fact, to avoid the demagnetizing effect of the field of the coil on the magnet, the latter is not arranged in series in the magnetic circuit but in parallel on one of the branches of the yoke.
With this arrangement, the maintenance of the pallet in the bonding position by magnetic attraction can only be obtained by saturation in all or part of the branch of the yoke which shunts the magnet. The demagnetization field generated by the coil having difficulty crossing the saturated zone, it is necessary to increase the amps supplied to the coil to obtain operation.
The object of the present invention is to avoid the above drawbacks and therefore to improve the sensitivity. It also aims to obtain an undercurrent or voltage relay having very low consumption.
It relates to a sensitive bonding relay without magnet operating on take-off and comprising: - a magnetic circuit having a fixed armature with two
branches, U-shaped, called yoke, and a movable frame
said pallet, the pallet pivoting on the cylinder head between two positions
tions: one known as bonding where it comes into contact with the parts
cylinder head poles to close the magnetic circuit with
minimum residual air gaps and the other so-called take-off where
it leaves a large gap; - a spring exerting on the pallet a force tending to take off
lage, and - a magnetization coil intended to provide the field
magnetic required to hold the pallet in position
collage.
The characteristics and advantages of the invention will emerge from the appended claims and from the following description of an embodiment given by way of example. This description will be made with reference to the drawing in which FIG. 1 schematically represents a sensitive bonding relay of the prior art and FIG. 2 a sensitive bonding relay according to the invention.
Fig. 1 shows a prior art U-yoke bonding sensitive relay. This relay comprises: a U-shaped yoke 1, a movable pallet 2 covering the yoke and pivoting around one of the vertices 7 of the U between two positions, the so-called bonding one where it is in contact with the pole pieces of the yoke 1 and closes the magnetic circuit with minimal residual air gaps, and the other so-called take-off where it leaves a large gap, a permanent magnet 4 responsible for maintaining the pallet 2 in the bonding position, a counter spring 3 tending to take off the pallet 2 of the yoke 1 and a so-called demagnetization coil 5 arranged on one of the branches of the yoke 1.
The reluctance of the magnetic circuit is essentially due to air gaps. It is very low when the pallet 2 is in the bonding position, because the air gaps are reduced to the residual air gaps which are made as narrow as possible by very precise machining of the pole pieces of the cylinder head 1 and of the pallet 2. It is very much higher when the pallet 2 is in the take-off position due to the width of the air gap. The result is that the magnetomotive energy that the magnet 4 must supply to the magnetic circuit to keep the pallet 2 in the stuck position, that is to say to exert on the latter an attractive force greater than the antagonistic force of the spring 3, is much weaker than that which would be necessary to attract the pallet 2 and make it swing from the take-off position to the glue position.
In addition, to take off the pallet 2, it suffices to apply to the magnetic circuit, via the demagnetization coil 5, an even weaker magnetomotive force opposing that due to the magnet 4, so that the magnetic force of attraction exerted on the pallet 2 becomes less than that of the spring 3. Experimentally, the lifting of the pallet is obtained with an energy approximately one hundred times lower than that necessary to obtain the reverse movement.
In practice, sensitive sticking relays are still used during takeoff. They include a mechanical rearming device returning the pallet 2 to the bonding position. The excitation current is applied to the demagnetization coil 5. This current is either alternating or direct. The operation of the relay is obtained when the direction of the current is such that the coil 5 creates a magnetic flux opposing that of the magnet 4 and the intensity of the latter exceeds a certain threshold.
Sensitive relays nevertheless have certain faults which have already been mentioned: 1. an operating threshold fixed once and for all based on
tion of the adjustment of the magnet field; 2.a lower sensitivity than one might expect
tender.
Fig. 2 shows a sensitive bonding relay according to the invention. It is deduced from the sensitive bonding relay shown in FIG. 1 by replacing the magnet 4 by a so-called magnetization coil 6. This magnetization coil 6 is placed, like the demagnetization coil 5, on the yoke 1. It is shown arranged in the bottom of the yoke 1 in the form of a U. It could be on a branch.
To obtain an operation equivalent to the sensitive magnet relay, it suffices to supply the magnetization coil with a direct current, the intensity of which is adjusted to obtain a suitable magnetic bonding of the pallet. The following advantages are then obtained: 1. For the same bonding force, the sensitivity increases
considerably, the energy to be supplied to the demagnet coil
tization to obtain the take-off of the pallet reduces
three quarters. This seems to be explained by the fact that the coil
magnetization 6 not being arranged in shunt but in series
in the magnetic circuit, the magnetic bonding of the
pallet 2 is done without saturation of the magnetic circuit and, therefore
fact, the field necessary for demagnetization is strongly
reduced.
2. The sensitivity can be adjusted by adjusting the intensity of the
current flowing through the magnetization coil 6.
In many applications, particularly in the field of differential protection, the need to provide a bias source for the magnetization coil is not a problem. It should also be noted that the energy consumption is minimal.
The demagnetization coil 5 can be omitted. The excitation current is then applied to the magnetization coil 6. The relay then operates as an undercurrent or voltage relay and is characterized by extremely low consumption. It has the advantage of being able to be obtained from a currently known bonding sensitive relay, by simply removing the magnet, the coil provided for demagnetization playing, due to the disappearance of the magnet, the role of 'a magnetization coil.
It should be noted that the resetting of the relay can be ensured by a momentary inrush current supplied to the magnetization coil to bring the pallet to the bonding, then reduced thereafter to ensure the desired bonding holding force. This arrangement allows remote control.
It is possible, without departing from the scope of the invention, to modify certain arrangements or to replace certain means by equivalent means. The shape of the magnetic circuit is not limited to that shown. The magnetization and demagnetization coils can be fractionated and fed from different sources.
