Fig. 6.
Brake air shut-off valves are used in particular for railway vehicles in two mutually symmetrical versions, which are differentiated from one another as a left-hand model and a right-hand model. With the venting head pointing upwards, looking at the end of the spindle connected to the actuating lever, the left-hand model has the connection for the brake clutch hose on the left and the pipe connection for the main air line on the right, with the right-hand model the connection for the brake coupling hose on the right and the pipe connection for the main air line on the left.
For the previous left and right-hand models of these taps, two different, mutually symmetrical tap housings are required, both for taps for conventional, manually operated vehicle couplings and for taps for automatic central buffer couplings and for taps that can be used for both conventional and central buffer couplings.
In the taps for conventional couplings with coupling hooks, coupling brackets and tensioning device, the tap connection for the brake clutch hose is inclined downwards by, for example, 35, and the actuating lever has a handle. In the taps for automatic central buffer couplings, the connections for the brake coupling hose and for the main air line are in alignment, and the actuating lever is a forked lever that is actuated with the automatic coupling. The taps, which can be used for both conventional and central buffer couplings, have flanges between the tap housing and the pipe connection for the main air line that are inclined, for example, by 17.5 to the vertical.
In order to reduce manufacturing costs, to simplify storage and to enable a simple conversion of a left-hand model into a right-hand model and vice versa, according to a proposal that does not belong to the state of the art (CH-PS 597 024), the same housing and also in the The rest of the same components are used, which are designed so that either a left or a right model can be assembled from the same components and a left model can be converted into a right model or, conversely, a right model can be converted into a left model.
This has the advantage that, as before, only one spindle end is led out tightly through the housing and the mounting of the other spindle end within the housing does not require a seal. However, when converting from a left-hand model to a right-hand model or vice versa, the operating lever must be removed, one housing cover removed from the housing and the spindle, the other housing cover with the spindle and the locking piece removed and the reverse operations performed. If, as usual, the tap has stops that limit the rotary movement in the through position and in the venting position, a stop must be moved when converting from a left model to a right model or vice versa.
The invention is based on the object of creating a brake air shut-off valve which can be converted from a left-hand model into a right-hand model in a simpler manner and is easy to manufacture.
According to the invention, this is achieved in that both spindle ends are led out of the housing and the actuating lever can optionally be attached to one or the other spindle end.
This cock is, depending on which spindle end the actuating lever is attached to, a right-hand model or a left-hand model. To convert from a left-hand model to a right-hand model or vice versa, the actuating lever only needs to be removed from one end of the spindle and, without having to move the tap, attached to the other end of the spindle in the same position with respect to the housing. The case remains unopened. A stop limiting the rotary movement in the passage position and in the venting position remains unchanged.
An exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is described in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawing. Show it:
1 shows a side view of a left-hand model of a brake air shut-off valve for automatic clutches, which can also be installed as a right-hand model and also for conventional clutches,
2 shows a section along the line II-II in FIGS. 1 and 3, without the actuating lever, in the venting position of the closure piece,
3 shows a sectional view corresponding to FIG. 1 (III-III in FIG. 2) in the venting position of the closure piece,
Fig. 4 shows a section through the tap housing along the line IV-IV in Fig. 3,
Fig. 5 is a partial section along the line V-V in Fig. 2 and
6 shows a view corresponding to FIG. 1 of the tap according to FIGS. 1 to 5, mounted for conventional couplings.
The brake air shut-off valve shown has an essentially cylindrical valve housing 1, which has a connection piece 2 for the brake clutch hose, a projection 3 for a vent head 37 and a connection flange 4 for a pipe connection piece 6 provided with a corresponding flange 5 for the main air line. The axes of the nozzle 2 and 6 and the extension 3 run perpendicular to the cylinder axis of the housing 1, the axes of the extension 3 and the flange 4 run at right angles to one another, the flanges 4 and 5 are at 12 to the aligned axes of the nozzles 2 and 6 , 5 to the vertical (Fig. 1 and 3) inclined to the right. The flanges 4 and 5 are connected to one another by screws 7.
The essentially cylindrical housing 1 is closed at both ends by the same housing cover (cylinder cover) 8 and 9, each of which has a projection 10 or 11 seated in one end of the cylinder space and a flange 12 or 13 resting on the cylinder edge (Fig. 2 ). A sealing ring 14 is arranged between the extension 10 or 11 and the flange 12 or 13, respectively. The covers 8 and 9 are fastened to the housing 1 by screws 15. For this purpose, the housing 1 and the covers 8, 9 are provided with eyes 16 and 17, respectively.
The tap spindle consists of two spindle parts 18 and 19 which are aligned with one another in the cylinder axis of the housing 1, each mounted in one of the housing covers 8 and 9 and passed through the respective cover in an airtight manner. A square 20 is formed at the outer end of the spindle part 19, and a square 27 is formed at the outer end of the spindle part 18. A forked operating lever 21a for the central buffer coupling or
An actuating lever with handle 21b for manually operated, conventional coupling can be placed on the square 20 (as shown in Fig. 1 or 6) for use of the tap as a left model and on the square 23 for use as a right model and fixed by means of a transverse pin 35 . The spindle parts 18 and 19 are secured against axial displacement in the housing 1, as can be seen from FIG.
The locking piece 22 of the valve, which is firmly connected to the spindle parts 18 and 19, has the shape of a spherical cap which, in the vent position of the spindle shown in FIGS. 2, 3 and 5, opens a seat ring 23 mounted in the flange 4 and a 90 " The passage position offset from the spindle axis closes the opening of a seat ring 24 assigned to the ventilation head 3.
A part 25 formed in one piece with the closure piece 22 (FIGS. 2 and 5) has a radial bore 26 near the inner surface of the housing cover 9. A pin 28 sits in the bore 26 and rests against a fixed stop 29 in the vented position of the tap shown and after rotating the locking piece into the through position at a fixed stop 30. The stops 29 and 30 are formed on the inside of the cover 9. The distance of the outer end of the pin 28 from the cylindrical inner surface 31 of the housing 1 is shorter than the length section of the pin 28 seated in part 25, so that the pin 28 cannot detach itself from the bore 26 and always reliably with the stops 29 and 30 cooperates.
A latching device is provided on the inside of the cover 8 and on the spindle part 18 (FIGS. 2 and 3). This consists of two leaf spring sets 32, which are supported on the one hand on inner projections 33 of the cover 8 and on the other hand on a square 34 formed on the spindle part 18 (FIGS. 2 and 3).
So that the leaf spring sets 32 also remain on the cover 8 when the spindle is pulled out of its bearing on the cover 8 when the tap is dismantled, whereupon the spring sets 32 can no longer be supported on the square 34, additional projections 36 (Fig. 3 ) the projections 33 are provided opposite on the inside of the cover 8. The projections 33 and 36 are beveled or rounded in order to allow the leaf spring sets 32 to easily bend when the square 34 is rotated.
In a departure from the exemplary embodiment shown, the stops and the locking device could also be arranged on one and the same housing cover.
In order to use the valve described in connection with FIGS rotated about its axis and then screwed back onto the flange 4. The connection 2 for the brake clutch hose is then directed downwards at an angle, as required for manually operated clutches, cf. Fig. 6. The forked operating lever 21a is replaced by the lever with handle 21b. Of course, the valve can also be assembled from the outset from the parts described for use on manually operated couplings.
