Fig. 1 eine Seitenansicht auf die gesamte Vorrichtung;
The invention relates to a device for illuminating and inspecting cavities, especially in internal combustion engines that are subject to wear and tear, with an endoscopic viewing tube rotatable about its longitudinal axis with respect to a fixed viewing tube, the light for illuminating the cavity being guided through a fiber optic light guide.
Such a device is already known which relates to a device on endoscopes which is connected to an external light source of a light guide. Here, the light source is arranged separately from the endoscope and connected to it via a light guide known per se and flexible in the area outside the endoscope. These known flexible light guides usually consist of fiberglass fibers. This known device has the great advantage that, particularly in medical technology, strong light sources can be used for examinations as well as for photographic recordings or television without the handiness of the endoscope or the treatment of the patient being impaired (DT-PS 1 113 788).
Recently, such devices have also been used on devices of the type mentioned above; to z. B. To be able to inspect signs of wear and tear on Brennlcraftmaschinen quickly and easily without the need for a major dismantling of the machine. When driving convincing engines, it is sufficient z. B. unscrew the spark plug and push the endoscope through this opening into the combustion chamber in order to be able to inspect the signs of wear there. Otherwise it would be necessary to unscrew the cylinder head, which would take several hours of assembly work. Similarly, e.g. B. the blades of aircraft turbines or the combustion chambers of jet engines inspected.
It is necessary to turn the endoscopic periscope inserted into the cavity in order to inspect the various parts of the cavities. There is the possibility of doing this using the flexible light guide mentioned, but the operator must perform appropriate movements in order to guide the flexible light guide behind the rotation of the endoscope. This is of course inconvenient.
It is also known to arrange a small light bulb at the distal end of the endoscopic periscope without using a flexible light guide and to feed the current to the light bulb via a sliding contact so that it is possible to rotate the periscope without interrupting the power contact. The size and strength of the lightbulb is very limited, and there is also no possibility of easily removing the endoscopic periscope, so that the entire device has to be sent back to the manufacturer for a repair or inspection.
It also has to be a special construction so that the known endoscopic periscopes cannot be used here. Finally, it is also not possible to illuminate the surroundings of the device without additional measures.
The invention is based on the object of improving the device of the type mentioned at the outset so that the disadvantages mentioned are avoided, in particular the rotation of the endoscopic viewing tube should be easily possible without having to make use of the flexibility of the light guide, so that the Handling is much simplified.
This object is achieved in that, in order to couple the light into the light guide of the rotatable endoscopic periscope, the light guide coming from the light source is designed in a ring shape at the transition point between the fixed periscope and the rotatable periscope, and one end of the light guide arranged in the rotatable periscope moves lengthways when it is turned of the annular light guide section moves.
It is not even necessary for the rotatable endoscopic periscope to touch the ring-shaped light guide; it is sufficient that the irradiation surface of the glass fiber light guide of the endoscope optics is arranged in such a way that the light rays at every point of the ring into the light guide of the endoscope -Optics can occur.
In a further embodiment of the invention, the ring-shaped light guide can only be partially covered by opaque material, so that light can exit to illuminate the surroundings.
As a result, the area around the endoscopic viewing tube, in particular, is illuminated by the vast majority of the ring-shaped light guide, so that the operator does not need an additional light source for their work.
In a particularly advantageous manner, the endoscopic periscope can also be easily detachably connected to the fixed periscope. As a result, the periscope is not only very easy to replace, but it can also be provided, known, z. B. to use periscopes used in medical technology.
For this purpose, a resilient, rotatable closure is provided.
This makes it very easy and simple to change without tools.
It can also be expedient to arrange the rotatable endoscopic periscope at an angle to the fixed periscope that is connected to the housing containing the light source. Preferably an angle of -600 is provided. This z. B. facilitates the introduction into the engine block of a motor vehicle, which is relatively deep in the vehicle.
Further advantages and details of the invention emerge from the following description of an exemplary embodiment with reference to the drawing. In this show:
1 shows a side view of the entire device;
2 shows a view in the direction of the axis of the endoscopic periscope after dismantling the same and
3 shows an enlarged side view of an individual part, namely the endoscopic periscope.
The device according to FIG. 1 shows at the bottom the handle 7 on the housing 5 of the lighting device, through which handle the electrical cable 8 is guided into the interior of the housing 5 to the light source 1 and the fan 11, not shown in detail. Holes (not shown) are present in the housing 5 in order to allow the passage of air for the fan 11. The fan and air duct are known per se and therefore do not have to be shown in detail, as does the light source 1, which is designed in the manner of a headlamp, the light cone of which is directed onto the end of the light guide cable 12. This is surrounded by a metallic sleeve and leads upwards to the annular light guide 3, which is also covered in this view and which is arranged at the left end of the viewing tube 6 with the eyepiece 13.
This periscope is attached to the housing 5 by means of the screw 10 such that it can be moved to the left.
According to the invention, the light is guided from the ring-shaped light guide 3 via the contact point 9 into the attachment 45 of the endoscopic viewing tube 2, into which the end of the rotatable light guide cable 4 opens, which is arranged in the endoscopic viewing tube 2 and is therefore shown here with broken lines . The details of this endoscopic periscope 2 do not have to be shown or described because such periscopes are known per se, particularly in medical technology. On the objective 14 of the endoscopic viewing tube 2 there is also an opening for the light guide cable 4 at the distal end.
The beam path now leads from the objective 14 through the endoscopic viewing tube 2 at an angle α via known prisms, not shown, into the viewing tube 6 to the eyepiece 13 for the observer.
At the bottom of the ring-shaped, clad light guide 3, an actuating ring 16 is provided, through the rotation of which the endoscopic viewing tube 2 together with the extension 15 can be easily detached and exchanged, as will be explained later. In addition, the endoscopic periscope 2 together with the extension 15 can be rotated very easily about its longitudinal axis in the assembled state, the light contact 9 with the ring-shaped light guide 3 always being maintained.
To dismantle the light source 1, only the screw 10 has to be loosened and the viewing tube 6 shifted to the left, whereby the cap 18 can be pulled off to the left.
The angle e is preferably 690. This facilitates handling when inserting into deeper cavities.
Fig. 2 shows the mentioned lighting device with the periscope 6 by itself. The endoscopic periscope according to FIG. 3 has been dismantled in the aforementioned manner.
The reference numbers here are the same as before. The ring-shaped light guide 3 can be seen with its ring-shaped uncovered part 17. Further uncovered parts of the ring-shaped light guide 3 can also be present in order to illuminate the surroundings.
When the actuating ring 16 is rotated, the cams 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24 arranged in the interior of the ring are resiliently displaced radially outward in order to accommodate the eyepiece 28 of the endoscopic viewing tube 2. After the eyepiece has been inserted there, the ring 16 is released so that the fastening cams 20-23 press against the conical side surface 25 of the eyepiece 28 and fasten the endoscopic viewing tube 2 in the correct position. In the middle of the ring 3 a hole 19 is visible through which the beam path is guided from the eyepiece 28 into the periscope 6.
FIG. 3 shows the endoscopic periscope 2 according to FIG. 1 on its own on an enlarged scale. It can be essentially the same instrument that z. B. is used in medical technology. According to the invention, however, the flexible light guide 4 is led out laterally to the extension 15 in the vicinity of the eyepiece 28 and here shows an uncovered contact point 9 which, in the assembled state, is constantly in contact with the uncovered part of the ring-shaped light guide 3.
Since the cams 20-23 are circular and can be rotated about their longitudinal axis according to FIG. 2, the endoscopic periscope 2 can easily be rotated about its longitudinal axis after installation.
At the distal end, near the objective 14, the light exit 26 is arranged at the end of the light guide 4 in order to illuminate the image at the point at which the objective 14 is also directed. The beam path for the objective 14 does not have to be shown in detail, since it is known per se.
For use, the device according to FIG. 1 with the objective 14 is introduced into the cavity, for example of a machine or the like, in which there are parts subject to wear. Then, after switching on the light source 1, the observer can observe all the wearing parts in the cavity through the eyepiece 13, for which he can easily turn the endoscopic periscope 2 by hand by z. B. the approach 15 operated by hand. In order to determine the exact position of the rotation, or to generate a specific rotational position, markings, grids or stops 27 according to FIG. 2 can also be arranged on the ring 3, which is readily understandable to the person skilled in the art. As a result, the operator can also check the position of the periscope 2 at any time without having to pull the periscope out of the cavity.
