It has already been proposed in internal combustion engines to provide the exhaust funnel with open passages through which the driving wind is intended to flow and the combustion gases to be carried away. However, this does not make a contribution to reducing the toxicity of combustion gases.
The subject of the invention is an air-hygienic exhaust device on engines, in particular of vehicles, in which, according to the invention, the exhaust pipe is led from the engine to a muffler and from this to a muffler forming a mixing zone, the exhaust pipe in front of the muffler into a fresh air line provided with a non-return valve leads to which the latter a further fresh air line communicating with a fan opens, the whole thing in such a way that fresh air can be fed in like a jet in the area of the muffler and with this the mixing and relaxation can be effected.
In the drawing, three exemplary embodiments of the device according to the invention are shown, namely show:
1 to 3 each show an embodiment in a schematic representation.
According to the embodiment shown in FIG. 1, 1 designates the engine of a road vehicle 2. A silencer 4 is built into the exhaust pipe 3 of the engine. From a fresh air funnel 5 mounted on the car front, a fresh air pipe 6 with built-in non-return valve 7 leads to an exhaust muffler 8 acting as a mixing zone. This has a finely perforated jacket which slowly relaxes the exhaust gases and lets them escape without any particular noise. Immediately in front of the muffler, the fresh air flowing through the pipe 6 is supplied with exhaust gas through the exhaust pipe 3 by means of the organ 9 built into the fresh air line 6 in the manner of an injector, namely to 9/10 parts of air
1/10 part exhaust gas.
Mixing the combustion gases in multiple excesses reduces the toxicity of the former. 10 is a fan which, when driving slowly or before temporarily stopping the vehicle, receives the fresh air supply through a pipe 6 ′ opening into pipe 6 like an injector at 11. The organs 4, 5, 7, 8 and 10 are advantageously mounted on the underside of the chassis. Depending on the speed of the vehicle, fresh air is supplied from the catch funnel 5 by means of the fan or, if necessary, by both.
- In the second embodiment according to FIG. 2 is the
Muffler 4 formed by installing a coil 12 as a heat exchanger. A pipe 13, 14 which carries the cooling medium and which leads via a cooling unit 15 is connected to the pipe coil 12. The electricity for operating the cooling unit 15 is supplied by the vehicle's alternator. The temperature of the cooling medium in the flow 13 is approx. -2 "C, and in the return 14 + 20C. A condensate collector 16 is installed on the underside of the sound absorber 4, which works as a heat exchanger. The oil and water are separated as condensate and thus a dry The condensate can be drained through a valve 17.
In this embodiment, the fresh air supplied in excess by the fan 10 is introduced into the fresh air / gas mixture pipe 6 ″ in the manner of an injector immediately in front of the mixing zone at 11 ′.
The third embodiment according to FIG. 3 differs from the previous one in that the pipeline 6 ″ carrying the air-gas mixture initially opens into a combustion chamber 18, where natural gas or noble gas is supplied from a container 20 through a gas line 19. The exhaust gases exiting from the combustion chamber 18 are supplied in a multiple excess of fresh air by the fan 10 by means of a pipe 6 'which opens into the exhaust pipe 6 ″ like an injector at 11 ′, which enables the catalytic combustion of still combustible residues. In this embodiment of the device, the combustion process requires fresh air for 1/20 of the mixture parts 19/20. Toxic gas excretions such as CO and SO2 are particularly favorably influenced by the multiple combustion made possible in this way.
The device described can be used for vehicles of all types which have internal combustion engines.
Air pollution is significantly reduced thanks to the mixing of the combustion gases with a multiple excess of fresh air.
