Fig. 1 eine schematische Darstellung,
Fig. 2 eine Draufsicht,
Fig. 3 einen Querschnitt und
The invention relates to a longitudinally adjustable arm support loop.
Adjustable arm support slings are known. They are woven as a band, with one of the loops wrapping around the arm being adjustable. The adjustment is made by means of a hinged adjustment slide attached to the outermost end of the belt. The second loop does not need to be adjusted and is therefore simply firmly fixed with a seam. The part of the band forming the connection between the two loops is placed around the neck area during use and carries the entire weight of a possibly broken arm, which in many cases is still bandaged with a plaster of paris. It is therefore necessary to use a strong and inelastic material suitable for this load. However, due to the body contours there, the inelastic part of the strap placed around the neck area can never rest in its entire width.
As a result, the entire weight load occurs extremely one-sided on one selvedge, which leads to painful pressure points.
Moreover, with such an unevenly loaded ligament, it is impossible to prevent it from folding over after a short period of wearing, which means that the ligament lies more narrowly and the painful pressure increases. Finally, with this arm round sling made of woven tape, there is a risk of twisting primarily in the area which is outside the field of vision of the person wearing the arm round sling. The twisting occurs when the arm is inserted incorrectly. The risk of proceeding in this way is particularly great because the previously known arm support slings, due to the material and manufacturing processes, have no visual difference on either side.
Finally, the selvedges also cause pressure points wherever they lie directly on the skin, for example in the carrying loops that wrap around the arm, which, in addition to painful pressure points, can also cause circulatory disorders.
The invention is based on the object of better distributing the pressure on the parts of the body touched by the arm support sling tape and of preventing the tape from being folded over or twisted.
According to the invention, this is achieved in that the inside of the carrying strap of the arm support loop is provided over the entire length with the boucle part of a Velcro tape, to which at least one cushion part, which overlaps the tape edges on both sides and is provided with the hook part of the Velcro tape, can be attached. The shape of the upholstery parts is preferably adapted to the body contours and has a balancing effect between these and the inelastic band, the latter inevitably having to maintain its shape due to the adhesive connection and not being able to fold over. The different design of the inner and outer strap side of the arm support loop enable visual control when inserting the arm and counteract twisting.
Finally, the attachment of the upholstery ensures that you can immediately feel when the part of the arm sling that is out of view is twisted.
The fastener tape and the two parts of the Velcro tape are preferably made of synthetic material. Likewise the highly resilient filling of the upholstery parts. The outer sheathing of the same is preferably made of an air-permeable, light cotton fabric.
An exemplary embodiment is described in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings. Show it:
Fig. 1 is a schematic representation,
Fig. 2 is a plan view,
3 shows a cross section and
4 shows a rear view of the adjustable part of the arm support loop.
The arm support loop shown in the drawing consists of a band 2 cut to length, the ends of which are formed into loops on both sides. One loop, not shown in the drawing, is firmly fixed by means of a seam or welding, the other as an adjustment loop 3. The inside of the strap carries the boucle part 4a of a Velcro strap and is bounded on both sides by a border 4b. The hook part of the Velcro tape 5 is attached centrally over the entire length of the upholstery part 6 and pressed together with this in the boucle part 4a that a detachable adhesive connection results and the edges are covered on both sides in the longitudinal direction.
The adjustment loop 3 is set by loosening a further positive snap-in part 10 attached to the end of the belt 8. The fastening tab 9 of the belt guide element is fastened simultaneously with the snap-in part 10 in such a way that the guide loop 7 becomes effective behind the snap-in part 10.
The boucle part 4a is reinforced with two stitched seams 11.
The hook part of the Velcro tape 5 is fastened with 2 seams 12 on the upholstery part 6. The boucle part 4a is covered with cover tape 15 on the sides and on the back.
The upholstery part 6 is connected in the middle by the seams 12 to the hook part of the Velcro tape 5. The synthetic filling is laterally formed into two longitudinal beads and the spring pressure is increased.
The possibility of equipping adjustable arm support slings with upholstered parts and attaching these anywhere where desired by means of a detachable adhesive connection creates considerable advantages both in terms of production and use.
An easy-care, inexpensive synthetic material can be used for the arm round sling. The upholstery parts, the filling of which is also made of synthetic but highly resilient material, are given a washable, air-permeable cover. The upholstery parts are made in one size.
This is possible because the textile adhesive connection allows the upholstery to be attached anywhere in the arm support loop. For this reason, the upholstery parts are only as long as is necessary to protect a wrapped part of the body against the pressure of the edges of the wrist strap. If the arm sling is adjusted, the upholstery parts are simply reattached to the side and offset accordingly. But the shorter the upholstery, the greater the adjustment range of the arm support loop and the smaller the number of sizes. There is also the advantage of separate cleaning. You no longer wash the entire arm sling, but only the upholstery parts lying on the skin, which are removed for this purpose and replaced by spare upholstery parts. For the consumer this means cheaper.
He no longer needs several arm support slings, just one with several cheap upholstered parts.
A padded arm sling designed in this form is comfortable, easily adjustable and therefore requires considerably less effort by the nursing staff during a hospital stay.
