Fig. 6 eine Draufsicht zu Fig. 5,
Fig.

On long journeys, especially on motorways, experience has shown that driving with your arms constantly bent is very uncomfortable and leads to severe fatigue. In this sense, traffic jams in motorcades are particularly stressful. The subject of the present invention is an auxiliary device on the car steering wheel for more convenient steering, by means of which the abovementioned inconveniences are to be remedied. The characteristic of the same is that at least one easily removable handle body projecting circumferentially from the steering wheel is provided, which is adjustably arranged to adapt to the desired hand position.
In the drawing, for example, embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are shown, namely show:
Fig. 1 shows an example of how the steering wheel has been touched to achieve a comfortable hand position,
Fig. 2 how the arms had to be bent sharply when handling the steering wheel in this way,
FIG. 3 shows how the desired hand position shown in FIG. 1 is enabled for a steering wheel provided with the auxiliary device,
4 shows the less pronounced angling of the arms when using the auxiliary device,
5 shows a side view of a handle body which can be clamped, slidably adjusted and locked on the steering wheel, according to a first embodiment;
FIG. 6 is a plan view of FIG. 5,
7 shows a steering wheel with a detachably clamped handle body made of elastic plastic,
Fig.
8 a handle body provided with a clamping flap for clamping to the steering wheel, and
9 shows a steering wheel provided with fastening eyes for attaching a handle body.
The car steering wheel 1 shown is provided according to FIGS. 1 and 3 with countersunk lugs 2, to which at least one handle 4 on the steering wheel 1 provided with a plug pin 3 (FIG. 5) can be attached. The handle 4 protrudes radially with respect to the circumferential edge of the steering wheel and enables the steering wheel 1 to be operated in a comfortable hand position analogous to the example in FIG. 1 with a correspondingly comfortable arm position shown in FIG. 4, which causes a lot of fatigue in arms and hands occur less often. For operating the steering wheel by means of the handles 4, the comfortable hand position taken from FIG. 1 and used according to FIG. 3 is possible with the arms less angled according to FIG. 4.
6 and 7 show a handle 4 made of tough elastic plastic which can be clamped onto the steering wheel 1. This handle 4 is split into two resilient legs 4 ', 4 "by a longitudinal slot 5 and is provided at its free ends with molded clamping jaws 6, 6' which form a mouth 6" open to the front for clamping to the steering wheel 1. The handle 4 in turn projects radially to the peripheral edge of the steering wheel 1.
7 is a tensioning screw which is screw-adjustable with a threaded shoulder 8 in a threaded hole 9 of the spring leg 4 "and penetrates the other spring leg 4 'with play in a smooth hole 10. The tensioning screw 7 is supported with its head 7' on the shoulder 10 '. an enlarged part 10 ″ of the bore 10. The screw head 7 'is slotted and allows the adjustment of the tensioning screw 7 by means of a screwdriver or a coin 11. If the tensioning screw 7 is sufficiently set back, the handle 4', 4 "can be clamped to the steering wheel 1 as well as a slide adjustment thanks to the springing of the clamping legs 4 ', 4" The handle 4 can be fixed in the desired position by tightening the clamping screw 7.
8 shows an embodiment of the handle 4 which differs from that in FIGS. 6 and 7 in that two pairs of clamping jaws 6, which are spaced apart, are formed on the resilient legs 4 ', 4 ". This embodiment also shows the possibility of that when the handle 4 is not in use, it can be swiveled inwards so that it is unnecessary to remove it. The inwardly folded position of the handle 4 is shown in phantom in FIG. 8. On the steering wheel 1, a handle 4 shown by solid lines can be used for the right hand and a second handle 4 drawn by dash-dotted lines for the left hand must be clamped.
9 shows an embodiment of the handle 4 which has a fixed clamping jaw 4 ′ and a movable clamping jaw 13 which is pivotably articulated at its outer end by means of a hinge 12. At the free end of the latter, a closing member 14 is provided which, when the movable clamping jaw 13 is closed, engages in a closing opening of the fixed clamping jaw 4 'and resiliently locks the movable clamping jaw 13 in its closed position. Both clamping jaws 4 'and 13 are provided with a soft-elastic lining 16, which ensures that the handle 4 adheres well to the steering wheel.
The clamping jaws of the handles described above can also be provided with a flexible lining. The handles are expediently made of a material that is easy to grip, such as wood, plastic or metal, and can be coated with e.g. B. have leather. Any, per se known coatings on steering wheels are expediently provided with incorporated fastenings for the handles.
The embodiments according to FIGS. 1 to 5 are particularly useful for the manufacture of new steering wheels.
