There are several types of washing machines for dental and surgical instruments and accessories which are generally complex due to rotary water injectors, or agitation turbines whose drive axis must pass through the wall of the tank. washing.
Because of the very detergent and corrosive products for stripping in particular the cements adhering to dental instruments, the joints of these machines are very quickly deteriorated.
The aim of the present invention is to provide a machine for washing dental and surgical instruments, avoiding the aforementioned drawbacks and which can be used for non-specialized personnel.
The washing machine which is the subject of the invention comprises: a frame carrying a washing tank, a demineralizer, as well as a water inlet and a drain pipe for the tank, a cover sealing the tank and a panel control of machine operations.
This machine is distinguished by the fact that it comprises a double-way electromagnetic valve on the water inlet pipe, for direct supply to the tank or indirectly via the demineralizer; a washing pump sucking water from the bottom of a sump in the tank and injecting this water into the tank via two fixed injectors oriented so that the jets meet, one of the fixed injectors also having an orifice delivering a jet intended for driving a cylinder rotatably mounted in the tank; and by the fact that it also comprises a drain pump drawing water from the sump and delivering it to the drain pipe, a siphon cutter being provided in the drain pipe at a level corresponding to the upper edge of the tank.
The attached drawing illustrates schematically and by way of example, a bodied embodiment of the washing machine according to the invention.

The washing machine shown has a frame (fig. 5)
self-supporting. An upper plate 3 defines a compartment
in which the solenoid valve and the
machine control device.
This machine has a tank 4 ending at its part
lower by a sump 5 formed by a flexible duct rac
corded to the bottom of the tank on the one hand, and to a tip 6 on the other
go.
A water inlet pipe 7 supplies an electro valve
dual-channel magnetic 8 so as to either feed direct
feed tank 4 with raw water, or supply the tank with water
demineralized by conduits 9, 10 and demineralizer 11
for example with interchangeable cartridges.
A washing pump 17, mounted on the large-diameter outlet 12 of the nozzle 6 of the sump, distributes the water thus taken from the tank to two fixed injectors 13, 14 forming jets meeting in the lower part of the tank. . These jets are directed slightly upwards. The conduits 15 and 16 connect the outlet of the washing pump 17 to the fixed injectors.
The injector 14 comprises an orifice 18, forming a jet of smaller section oriented so as to drive a cylinder 19 mounted in the tank 4 in rotation.
The machine also comprises a drain pump 20, the suction of which is connected to the small diameter outlet 21 of the nozzle 6, this outlet communicating with a tube 22 going up inside the sump 5. A small diameter bore 23 connects the bottom of the end piece 6 to the interior of this tube 22.
The discharge from this drain pump is connected by a conduit 24 to a siphon cutter 25, located at the level of the upper part of the tank 4, itself connected to a drain pipe 26.
A pressure switch connected to a compression chamber 27 controls the filling level of the tank 4.
The tank 4 is closed in operation by a cover 28 articulated on the frame and held in the closed position by a hook 29 controlled by an electromagnet 30. This cover has a conical shape in section, the top of which is located in the center. In this way the condensation water forming on the cover flows along it, and falls into the tank.
This cover has a large surface in contact with the ambient atmosphere, therefore cold, and constitutes a condenser. The vents made in this cover to bring the tank to atmospheric pressure are of small section to increase the condensing capacity of the cover and prevent steam from escaping from the tank and condensing on parts of the machine outside the tank. tank.
A heating body 31 is placed at the bottom of the tank 4.
An axis 33 is fixed vertically to the bottom of the tank 4 on two spacers 32. This axis serves as a support and a pivot for a frame 34 carrying the cylinder 19. This cylinder 19 has vents 35 which, when this cylinder is in position of service in the tank 4, are located at the level of the horizontal jet exiting through the orifice 18 of the injector 14 which causes the driving of the rotating cylinder on itself.
A filter 36 closes the inlet of the sump 5.
The cylinder 19 and are frame serve as a support for a lower grid 37 intended to receive instruments to be washed.
An upper grid 38 can be superimposed on the lower grid, tabs 39 of the latter maintaining a space between the two grids.
A small basket 40 is threaded onto the axis 33, below the cylinder 19 and its cover 41 hooks onto the frame of the cylinder to ensure the rotation of the small basket at the same time as the cylinder 19. The small basket rests on a stop 42, carried by the axis 33. This small basket 40 is mainly used for placing small instruments.
For washing dental mirrors, the upper grid 38 is replaced by a mirror holder 43 comprising a cylindrical wall provided with hooks 44 and a lower groove 45 allowing each mirror to be placed individually (see FIG. 16). A grid forms a background for this mirror holder which can
thus also accept other instruments to be cleaned.
The simplicity of this washing machine is remarkable: a single electromagnetic valve, no moving element crossing the wall of the tub, which effectively ensures its tightness.
The mixing created by the impact of the two jets against each other, located at the level of the lower jet, ensures an efficient and energetic washing. The stirring causes an upward movement of the washing liquid up to the top of the second grid or mirror holder. The rotation of the cylinder ensures that all instruments are well washed.
It should be noted that thanks to the siphon cutter 25, it is possible to connect the drain pipe in a leaktight manner to the flow network, a possible depression in this network not being able to cause untimely siphonage of the tank 4.
Finally; thanks to the tube 22 going up in the sump, the suction of the washing pump cannot cause the pipe 24 to be emptied and cause air to be sucked in and therefore this pump to be deactivated.
The use of demineralised water also helps reduce corrosion and prevent mineral deposits, both on the instruments and on the submerged parts of the machine.
Drying is also facilitated by lowering the surface tension of the water.
The fact of using a demineralizer with interchangeable cartridges facilitates the use of the machine and contributes to its simplicity, it is no longer necessary to provide a resin regeneration circuit incorporated in the machine.
To increase the washing efficiency, an acidic detergent is used.
The discharge pressure of the washing pump 17 and its flow rate ensures very high turbulence in the tank 4, the recirculation rate being greater than 20 times per minute.
A standard washing cycle can include the following successive operations:
1) Hot acid wash.
2) Two successive rinses in cold raw water.
3) Rinsing in hot demineralized water.
4) Drying.
The embodiment described and illustrated is a body-mounted washing machine therefore mobile which can be connected to a water station and an electrical distribution network.
This washing machine is designed so that it can easily be fitted into existing furniture. In the latter case it is delivered in two parts, one consisting of the upper compartment or plate 3 on which the tank 4 and all the control device are mounted and the other formed by the lower plate on which the pumps are mounted. and the demineralizer. Once installed in the cabinet, the various hydraulic and electrical connections are made.
