There are essentially two types of pens for writing, drawing and painting: on the one hand the conventional wood-lined pens that carry the lead in the middle, these pens can be sharpened, and on the other hand there are countless mechanical writing, drawing and painting pens.
The present invention relates to a writing, drawing or painting pen of the first embodiment, but a plastic that can be sharpened is used instead of wood.
The prior art for these pens is also divided into two versions. The first version is again the traditional wood-encased pencil and the second one of the countless attempts to replace wood with a sharpenable plastic. It took a long time to find reasonably usable results for this, but these are still afflicted with many shortcomings, as will be described below. The development of plastic has given significant impetus for this type of pencil, and it can rightly be said that through sophisticated working methods and chemistry, suitable plastics, machines and concepts have been made available that are superior to conventional, modern wooden pencil production.
The introduction of the suitable lead into this plastic pen has very major defects in the quality of the writing, drawing or painting pen, which are probably not or only partially solved by the variation of the leads, which is decisive for the quality of the pen can be.
The invention is based on industry knowledge and years of development. The invention is explained, for example, using the drawing. Fig. 1 shows the previous, conventional pencil, with 2 the pencil lead and 3 with the wooden jacket, consisting of two parts that are glued in a known production, are designated.
The structure of the writing, drawing or painting pen according to the invention. is evident from FIG. 2. The casing parts 4 and 8 each consist of a section of an extruded or an individually injection-molded plastic profile, which profiles form the lead holder 10 between them. 6 shows a longitudinal clamping strip and 7 a longitudinal groove, which clamping means are pressed into one another when the profiles are offset by 180 "from one another to connect them. This locking creates a firm bond Profiles cylindrical as with 5 or slightly grooved as with 9.
Fig. 3 shows the writing, drawing and painting pen 11 with a rubber tip 13 which is connected in the usual way with a beaded metal sleeve 12 with the pen.
The production of the two extruded profiles is possible using a fully synthetic plastic that has the following mechanical properties. The injection molded parts have a sandwich structure, i. H. a foam core with compact cover layers, as it is manufactured today for a wide range of applications in profiles with the utmost precision. Despite the low specific density, which in turn is necessary to achieve good sharpening, the parts have excellent mechanical properties and a relatively high dimensional stability for a thermoplastic structural foam. Up until now, it was not possible to replace wood with plastic, which was sensible in and of itself, because all of the plastics could not be sharpened in the same way as wood.
The requirement of a writing, drawing and painting pen, however, is that it can be sharpened perfectly, not only with sharpening machines, but also in the usual way with a knife. The production of the profiles using the extrusion process or individual production using the injection molding process results in high and economical production figures for these profiles.
The production of writing, drawing or crayon refills with their high demands on the writing, drawing or painting quality, the varying degrees of hardness (for drawing pens, for example, in 16 different degrees of hardness), or for crayons of a general kind up to a glass or skin pen in multiple degrees of hardness, the new version guarantees an equivalent or better writing, drawing and painting pen than the wooden version. Normally, the mine is held by pressing the half-shells 4 and 8 together. However, as with the wooden pencil, the lead can also be glued in these half-shells. One advantage, however, should be that they do not have to be glued.
Hence the different design of the lead holder, 5 normal cylindrical shape and 9 a fluted, toothed design. The following advantages compared to the usual wooden pencil are mentioned here: 1. A plastic that is always the same compared to the varying wood design as an organic material.
2. No moisture absorption of the plastic as with
Wood.
3. The multiple processing steps of the wooden pencil, Her make the boards, parts of the boards in round or hexagonal half-shells, gluing the mine, color treatment of the wood in multiple operations, omitted because plastic profiles in the desired color in one
Operation are manufactured.
4. Stamping or signing of the finished pens is not necessary, since the plastic version enables the marking in the forms at the same time.
5. Plastic is cheaper than cedar wood.
6. Less machinery and therefore less investment.
The aforementioned advantages make production more economical and also improve quality.
