The invention relates to an inflatable lifeguard, consisting of two floats - the flotation collar and the neck pouch - which allow complete freedom of movement during swimming and are made of water-impermeable, gas-tight and transparent material, so that the rescue device is put on without reluctance to conspicuously help .
The rescue device also consists of an instrument console which contains an automatic release device for the inflation of the two floats, consisting of two pressure cartridges for the pressurized gas filling the floats, which are located in a rigid, removable insert in the instrument console, also consisting of the membrane of the print cartridges, which is sealed against the ingress of water, the associated puncture needles with a common guide plate and with two thrust joints and two slide devices for pushing and pulling both springs of the puncture needles when triggering / emptying and refilling the print cartridges, also consisting of holders for guidance and centering the needles in the necks of both cartridges.
The rescue device also consists of a lock against premature triggering of the automatic inflation system by cams that are attached below the membrane edge, and also of a differential pressure valve to compensate for the pressure of the surrounding water mass, the respective air pressure above the sea surface and the pressure in the still unfulfilled by the gas Interior of the instrument I (onsole. The rescue device also consists of a release piston which, through a watertight cable with the buckle of the attachment belt of the device and a contact connection, enables the release piston to be ready when buckling.
The rescue device also consists of a mechanical protection of the membrane against premature release of the automatic release device, which forms a shield made of rigid material with a guide running in circular grooves for pushing it down before swimming, this shield being heavier in its lower part due to a very thin lead insert received in order to promote the pushing back by the pressure of the water mass.
The various lifeguards already known per se have disadvantages in two respects which limit their possibility of use and their desirable distribution.
In the first place, it is the structure and color of the floats that should be conspicuous for possible rescuers, but have the disadvantage mentioned above that they tend to cause emotional inhibitions in adults against putting on such a device.
In the second regard, they do not meet the answer to the question asked of when an individual lifeguard should be inflated. The answer to this question is different for swimmers than for divers, different for flight personnel, military pilots, untrained passengers, professional seamen, marines and travelers on ships of all kinds.
When answering this question, especially for swimmers, the disturbances of the respective state of consciousness of the wearer of the rescue device play a role, since each wearer suffers individual disturbances that z. T. form the subjective dangers of drowning, moreover apparently insignificant dangers - such. B. shallow water up to 1.5 m depth - due to the subjective dangers of the wearer such. B. possible fainting - are increased and not coped with by the already known devices. It should be noted in this context that the guidelines for the manufacture and testing of life jackets of August 27, 1974 (FRG) are only intended for recreational shipping.
First and foremost, there are lifeguards that - in various ways - automatically trigger the inflation of the floats when they are immersed in the water, but completely ignoring the freedom of movement for the swimmer during swimming.
Advantageously, the advantage already mentioned in the definition of the greater reasonableness of putting on the lifesaving device for adults compared to other already known lifesaving devices is achieved by proposing a waterproof, gas-tight and transparent material for both floats that has not yet been used for this purpose.
An automatic release device for inflating the two floats, which is located in an instrument console, is also advantageously provided. For this purpose, there is a removable, rigid insert in this instrument console with the two pressure cartridges, the puncture needles with a common guide plate, the springs, the diaphragm and the two sliding joints with a common slide device, whereby the inside of the instruments is sealed by sealing the diaphragm circumference. Console is protected against ingress of water. Conveniently, there is a differential pressure valve on the front of the instrument console to compensate for the respective pressure of the surrounding water mass and the air pressure above. M. 0. as well as the interior of the instrument console, which has not yet been filled by gas.
Since the springs rigidly connected to the membrane have to act as compression springs in their working position to transmit the pressure impulse of the water mass to the two needle needles in the pressure cartridges, but in their standby position during the lifesaving device put on land and while swimming with the put on device under tension it is necessary to keep the change of direction of each of the two springs under control - as a tension spring upwards, as a compression spring downwards.
It is therefore proposed that both springs are rigidly connected to both the membrane and the puncture needles, with one on the front wall and another on the rear wall of the instrument console inside the same slide construction with sliding joints that travel the different lengths of the membrane and guide plate for the purpose of the different states of tension of the springs and the slides are unhooked to remove the insert.
In order to prevent the membrane from triggering the automatic inflation system prematurely, cams are attached to the two side walls inside the instrument console.
Furthermore, in order to ensure the ready position of the automatic release, a release piston is connected to the buckle of the strap by means of a waterproof cable and a contact in the strap. Mechanical protection of the membrane against premature release of the automatic inflation device when the person carrying the rescue device swims in different swimming positions can also be provided by providing a shield made of an inflexible material with a circular groove guide on the head of the instrument console have to push back, which takes care of the water column if the swimmer sinks below the water surface for any reason, whereby the shield in its lower part is given a greater weight by a thin lead
which favors pushing back.
