1-Methyl-4-isopropenyl-8-oxabicyclo 3,2,1 octane of formula (I) is used as a perfume ingredient for perfumes and perfumed prods. and/or as a flavouring ingredient for preparing artificial flavours and for flavouring solid and liq. foods for human and animals, non-nutritive drinks and tobacco. In an example (I) was prepd. starting from 1,1-diethoxy-4,8-dimethyl-4-hydroxy-non-2-yn-7-ene.
