La fig. 1 représente un parasol partiellement replié;
la fig. 2 représente, en perspective, la face interne du parasol déployé;
la fig. 3 représente un support pour le parasol monté sur le toit d'une voiture, en perspective;

The subject of the invention is a device for protecting the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle, in particular against the rays of the sun.
When a car is left parked in the sun, the sun's rays entering it through the glass walls, in particular the windshield and the rear window, over time heat the internal fittings of the vehicle, in particular the seats, and control devices, in particular the steering wheel, at an intolerable temperature. On the other hand, objects sensitive to heat, such as phonograph records for example, which are exposed to sunlight in the vehicle, risk being damaged.
The device according to the invention, which tends to remedy these drawbacks, is characterized in that it is formed by a parasol and a support for the handle of the latter, provided with members for fixing to the roof of the vehicle. .
The appended drawing represents, schematically and by way of example, an embodiment of the device according to the invention.
Fig. 1 shows a partially folded parasol;
fig. 2 shows, in perspective, the internal face of the deployed parasol;
fig. 3 shows a support for the parasol mounted on the roof of a car, in perspective;
fig. 4 shows the entire device mounted on a car for its protection.
The device shown in the drawing comprises a parasol 1, the canvas 2 of which is rectangular in shape when it is deployed and a support 3 provided with members 4 for fixing to the gutter 5 of the roof 6 of a motor vehicle.
The canvas 2 of the parasol is provided at its periphery with a skirt 7 which can be folded over its internal face when the parasol is folded up.
The handle of the parasol 1 comprises two parts 8, 9 screwed coaxially into one another, part 8 being able to be separated therefrom when the canvas 2 is deployed.
The support 3 comprises two bars 10, 11 integral at one of their ends with a support rod 12, the free end of which is provided with the member 4 for fixing to the gutter 5 of the roof of the car. The other end of the bars 10, 11 is engaged in a tubular sheath 13 provided with locking screws 20 making it possible to adjust the spacing of the members 4 for fixing to the gutters 5 to the width of the roof of the car. The tubular sheath 13 has in its middle a tubular part 14 arranged at right angles to its axis.
As shown in phantom in FIG. 3, the part 9 of the handle of the parasol 1 is intended to be engaged in the tubular part 14 after deployment of the canvas 2 and to be locked there by means of a lever 15 with which the part 14 is provided.
Two ribs 16, 17 are pivotally mounted at the ends of the bars 10, 11 provided with the support rods 12.
As shown in fig. 4, these ribs 16, 17 are intended to be deployed under the skirt 7, when the latter is folded over the glass walls of the body of the car, to keep it away from the side faces of the latter.
Tensioners 18, formed by rubber bands, are connected to the free edge of the skirt 7 on either side of the windshield and of the rear window of the car to keep it apart, the free end of these tensioners 18 being hooked, on the one hand, to the rear bumper and, on the other hand, to the front fenders of the car.
All the canvas parts of the device are thus kept away from the body of the car, which allows air to circulate under the canvas. This air flow can be further improved by the presence of orifices made in the vicinity of the point of connection of the skirt 7 to the fabric 2 of the parasol.
The whole device can be quickly assembled and disassembled and takes up little space in the trunk of the car when disassembled.
Another advantage of the device lies in the fact that the parasol can still be used, for example, as a beach parasol. For this purpose, the unthreaded end of part 8 of its handle can be provided with a point.
Many variants of detail of the embodiment described and shown in the drawing can be envisaged.
One can, for example, provide a diametral drilling of the tubular part 14 and of the part 9 of the handle of the parasol which is engaged therein, in order to pass the hook of a padlock therein.
