Abstract
The high-current cable (6-30A) has a coded outer sheath to indicate the current carrying capacity of its wires. The coding consists of a coloured ridge (3) running along the outer surface of the sheath parallel to the axis. The ridge colour denotes the thickness of the wire in the cable. In addition, a second ridge may be included parallel to the first and coloured to indicate whether the cable's wires are solid copper, or aluminium or stranded.
Description

**WARNUNG** Ende DESC Feld konnte Anfang CLMS uberlappen**.
Electrical cables which are dimensioned for currents of about 6 amps upwards are usually referred to as high-voltage installation cables. Most multi-core cables have z. B. Copper cross-sections of 1 - 1.5 - 2.5 - 4 - 6 - 10mm2 etc. corresponding to currents of 6 - 10 - 15 - 20 - 25 - 30 Amp, etc. in the individual veins. The usual cables have the disadvantage that it is only at their free ends that it is clearly evident from their cross-section what kind of wires they contain. Cable reels or any cable sections, on the other hand, must be provided with hang-up or adhesive labels that contain the relevant information.
It is therefore not uncommon for the correct cables not to be taken with you for installation work or for an unnecessary number of cables to be taken in a hurry. The present invention aims to remedy this disadvantage.
The power installation cable according to the invention is characterized in that it has a jacket which is provided over its entire length with one or more markings, which markings indicate the wire or wires contained in it.
In the drawing, two exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are shown, FIGS. 1 and 2 showing a single-core and a two-core cable, respectively.
The cable shown in Fig. 1 has a copper wire 1 with a cross section of, for. B. 4 mm2, which is thus provided according to the usual standards for currents of up to 20 amps. The wire 1 is embedded in an insulating jacket 2, the z. B. consists of rubber or plastic. On the usually light gray coat 2, a blue longitudinal stripe 3 has been sprayed, the width of which z. B. 2 mm and its thickness z. B. 0.1 mm, which is a designation for a 20-amp. Core applies. If three 20-amp. Cores 1 were contained in the jacket 2, it would expediently be provided with three blue stripes 3. Alternatively, could be on a single blue stripe 3 at intervals of z. B. be embossed about 10 cm a 3 or even the more explicit designation 3 X 4 mm2.
In Fig. 2, a cable is drawn which has two copper wires 1, the cross-section of z. B. 1.5 mm2. The jacket 2 is provided with two red longitudinal stripes 3, the width and thickness of which are preferably the same as in the case of FIG. 1.
The color red indicates cores for currents up to 10 amps.
The colors for the wire size are expediently selected according to the colors that are already used for the identification of fuses of the same amperage, e.g. B. green, red, gray, blue etc. for 6, 10, 15, 20 amp. Etc.
The fact that the colored strips 3 consist of plastic which is colored in the mass and which, when sprayed onto the cable at the exit of an extruder, is firmly connected to its jacket, ensuring excellent durability of the marking. In addition, the strength and insulation properties of the jacket itself are not impaired in any way.
If the wires 1 are not made of solid copper wire, but of stranded wire, this fact can be explained by an additional, e.g. B. show silver-colored vertical stripes. A stranded cable with a wire for 20 amp. Would therefore have, in addition to the blue longitudinal stripe 3 from FIG. 1, a silver-colored longitudinal stripe. You can also use a, z. B. black, vertical stripes indicate that the wire or wires are not made of copper, as usual, but of aluminum. Any other special features are expediently indicated by corresponding equidistant embossing.
It is clear that the cable jacket 2 can also be multilayered and that it can also contain wires of different sizes.
The proposed cable marking is not only advantageous during the installation of the cable, but also for any subsequent supplementary or repair work of various kinds, where you can come across unknown cables whose identification is important.
