Fig. 3 die Rückansicht eines Hüftgürtels abgewandelter Bauart.

The main patent relates to an orthopedic stretching device with two brackets for the body, the distance between which can be increased for the treatment of spinal problems, and with a support for supporting the lower legs of the person being treated. The device is characterized by a lower part and a pivotably mounted carrier for the support, one holder being fastened to the lower part while the other is connected to the carrier at a distance from the pivot axis of the carrier.
With a stretching device of the above type, comparatively large extension forces can be generated, and there is a need for mounts that are comfortable and do not cause pain to the body.
Stretching devices are known in which a hip belt is used to hold the lower body, which must be lashed around the hips like a normal belt before it can be subjected to extension forces. Such a hip belt yields more or less to the extension force depending on the friction and padding, and its position on the body cannot therefore be clearly defined. In order to reduce displacements to a minimum, the hip belt used in the known stretching devices is pulled very tightly. This has the consequence that the tension forces directed radially towards the center of the body are great and are perceived by the patient as extremely uncomfortable.
The invention is based on the object of further developing the stretching device according to the main patent, and to provide it with a holder for the lower body in which the tension forces exerted on the lower body, which are directed essentially radially towards the center of the body, can be kept as low as possible without that there is a risk of unintentional shifting of the belt. According to the invention, this object is achieved in that one of the brackets is designed as a hip belt, which is provided with diagonally running tension cords, on which belts connected to the pivotable carrier engage, in such a way that the forces exerted by the belts on one side of the hip belt through the tension cords can be transferred to the other side of the hip belt.
The stretching device according to the invention offers the advantage that the radial tension forces are automatically generated by the extension forces. In other words, the radial tension forces are dependent on the extension forces that occur. Since they occur at the same time as these, it is not necessary to lash the hip belt in advance.
It has been found to be particularly advantageous if the tension cords are formed by lines which at least partially surround the hip belt. The lines can move relative to the hip belt and ensure that the hip belt is tensioned properly, depending on the extension force.
Two embodiments of the invention are explained in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawing. Show it:
1 shows the front view of a hip belt for a holder for the lower body of a patient to be treated with the stretching device,
2 shows the rear view of the hip belt according to FIGS. 1 and
3 shows the rear view of a hip belt of a modified type.
In Figs. 1 and 2, 31 is a wide hip belt made of sufficiently strong flexible material. Around the hip belt 31, two tension cords 32 designed as pre-stretched plastic lines run in a diagonal direction. Fastening elements 33 are arranged displaceably on the tension cords 32 and can be coupled to belts which are connected to the pivotable carrier of the stretching device. Half the extension force P is transmitted to the tension cords 32 via the fastening elements 33. These are detachably held on the front of the hip belt 31 by clamps 34 and non-detachable on the back of the belt by an anchoring member 35. A buckle 36 is used to connect two short straps 38 having pull-through loops at their ends for the pull cords 32 after the hip belt 31 has been placed around the body of a patient.
The selected construction ensures that the extension forces are transmitted to the hip belt 31 in such a way that they themselves generate the tension forces that act radially inward on the body and hold the hip belt tight.
These tension forces are consequently proportional to the extension forces and only occur simultaneously with them. The latter is perceived by patients as far more pleasant than lashing the hip belt, independent of the extension force, before the actual extension process.
The use of tension cords 32 in the form of lines offers the advantage that the lines can slide over the outer surface of the belt when they transfer the forces exerted on them to the other side of the hip belt 31.
A simplified embodiment that does not have this advantage is shown in FIG. 3. In it, a hip belt is reproduced ben, in which the tension cords 40 are formed by parts of the hip belt itself. In this exemplary embodiment, the position of the fastening elements 41 cannot be changed in relation to the tension cords 40. When the extension force occurs, these consequently execute a certain movement relative to the body.
