Abstract

The signalling and recording apparatus installed at the entrance to a block of flats or other building so that a caller can communicate with one of the apartments consists of a unit located in the apartment, and a second unit locates at the entrance. The first unit incorporates a tape recorder for messages inwards and outwards. This recording system includes a playback tape for a prerecorded message which is heard over a loudspeaker on the second, or door unit, and a second tape is used to record messages spoken into a microphone on the door unit. The first unit has a button which operates a bell or other device to indicate that the caller can enter when the apparatus is not being used. This unit also has illuminated panels for the operation of the system, and to locate the messages which have been recorded.
