Abstract

Pressing and crushing roll comprises a supporting core and a flexible jacket, between which is a chamber for a pressurised medium, of which the dimension in the radial direction is at least twice as great as the wall thickness of the jacket. Pref. the roll has a surface hardness is not >40 degrees Shore, and the jacket is made of material of greater Shore hardness. The jacket may be flexible and thin enough to provide the roll with a surface hardness less than that of the jacket material when press. in the chamber is sufficiently low. The jacket may be made of rubber with a Shore hardness of 30-90 degrees and a wall thickness of 1-10 mm., or >=1 plastic films with a thickness of 0.1-1 mm, or a metal film 0.01-0.1 mm thick.
