The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of new 1: 2 cobalt complex compounds of the formula
EMI1.1
where R1 is an optionally substituted hydrocarbon radical, R2 and R3 are each hydrogen or optionally substituted lower alkyl radicals, X and X2 are each halogen, a nitro group or an optionally substituted alkyl or alkoxy radical M @ is a cation, and in which ring A can be further substituted, and also the 1: 2 cobalt complex compounds of the formula (1) thus obtained.
The aforementioned new cobalt complex compounds can be obtained by adding a 1: 1 cobalt complex of a monoazo compound of the formula
EMI1.2
wherein X and X2 have the meanings given above, with a monoazo compound of the formula
EMI1.3
wherein Rl, R2 and R3 have the meaning given above, in a reaction medium which is responsible for the introduction of the Ka tion Ms.
Possible substituents for R1 are alkyl, cycloalkyl and aryl radicals. Alkyl radicals should preferably contain 1 to 10 carbon atoms, they can be straight-chain or branched and also carry further substituents such as halogen atoms, alkoxy groups, cyano groups and the like.
Particularly suitable aryl radicals are phenyl radicals which can also be substituted by halogen atoms such as chlorine or bromine, by alkyl radicals, by alkoxy radicals, by a cyano group, by the hydroxycarbonyl group or an alkoxycarbonyl group and the like.
As radicals R2 and R3, which can be both hydrogen and lower alkyl radicals, lower alkyl radicals are also possible, which can be straight-chain or branched and which can also optionally contain further substituents such as halogen atoms, hydroxyl or lower alkoxy groups.
If Xi and X2 are halogen, chlorine and bromine are particularly suitable, but the trifluoromethyl group is also suitable.
Alkyl or alkoxy radicals which can be substituted, which, if substituted, can contain such substituents as halogen, preferably chlorine or bromine, the trifluoromethyl group or the cyano radical. One of the radicals X or X2 is preferred, or both radicals are a nitro group.
The cation Man is preferably a lithium, sodium, potassium or ammonium cation.
The 1: 2 cobalt complex compounds of the present invention are preferably those in which the radical R1 is a branched alkyl radical having 6 to 10 carbon atoms or a phenyl radical, R2 and R3 are hydrogen, X and X2 are nitro groups, chlorine or bromine atoms in the 4- and 6-positions to the oxygen group on the benzene residue, the So2-NR2R3 group (or SOzNH2 group) is in the 4- or 5-position to the oxygen group on the benzene residue and the SO3H group is preferably located in ring A of the formula (1) and in the 2 or 4 position to the amino group.
The 1: 2 cobalt complex compounds produced according to the invention are preferably carried out in aqueous or aqueous-organic solution, the 1: 1 cobalt complex required as starting material, the production of which is described below, preferably being reacted with stoichiometric amounts of the metal-free monoazo dye. The reaction is preferably carried out in an alkaline solution and is complete when the entire 1: 1 cobalt complex has reacted. When the reaction is complete, the 1: 2 cobalt complex can be salted out and, after washing with a concentrated salt solution, collected and dried. The 12 cobalt complexes according to the invention are readily soluble in water.
The monoazo dyes required as starting materials for the production of the 1: 1 cobalt complexes are known
Compounds and, for example, in French patent writings nos. 1,431,264, 1,466,877 and 1,476,587 described.
The preferred starting material is a 1 l cobalt complex which, according to the information in Swiss Patent No.
541 607 can be obtained. According to the process described there, azo dyes of the above formula II are reacted alone with a nitrite and a cobalt donor in what water or in a mixture of water and an organic solvent or in an organic solvent. The reaction is carried out at Tem temperatures of about 0 C to 60 "C, preferably between 10 C and 30" C and in the acidic range z. B. carried out at a pH of 3 to 7, preferably at a pH of 5 to 6. Cobalt releasing agents which are particularly suitable for the above reaction are e.g. B.
Cobalt formate, cobalt acetate, cobalt nitrate or cobalt sulfate. The cobaltization is best carried out in the presence of 3 to 6 mol of a nitrite per g atom of cobalt. Compared to the known cobalting process, the.
This process has the advantage that particularly pure and uniform 1: 1 cobalt complexes are obtained and that the complexes obtained are free from by-products.
The monoazo compounds of the formula III required as the second starting material are likewise for the most part known compounds or can be prepared by known processes. Their production is z. B. described in French patents nos. 1 107 888 and 1,061 329.
The new 1: 2 cobalt complex compounds obtained according to the invention are suitable for dyeing natural and synthetic polyamide fibers such as. B. wool, silk, nylon and for dyeing leather and for dyeing metals, especially for dyeing light metals, such as aluminum.
The new dyes according to the invention have very good properties, in particular with regard to their lightfastness and wetfastness (fastness to water, seawater, milled and perspiration) and excellent fastness to rubbing.
They are drawn onto polyamide fibers from a neutral medium, and since they are asymmetrical in nature, they have the very desirable property of being drawn up in the same tone, in contrast to the compounds described in Swiss Patent No. 317 120.
In the following examples, parts are parts by weight, parts by volume relate to parts by weight in the ratio of liter to kg and the temperature data are given in C.
Example I.
In 500 parts of water and 150 parts of alcohol, the 1: 1-sulfonic acid obtained from 51 parts of the monoazo dye 2-amino-1-hydroxy-4,6-dinitrobenzene-2-phenylaminonaphthalene-4'-sulfonic acid according to the example of Swiss patent specification No. 541 607 Cobalt complex and 41 parts of the dye obtained by coupling diazotized 2-amino-1-hydroxybenzene-4-sulfonic acid amide to 1-acetoacetylamino-2-ethylhexane and dissolved by adding sodium hydroxide solution at pH 12.0 and 20O. It is stirred for a few hours at 20 ° until the 1: 1 cobalt complex has completely disappeared. The solution is then filtered and the dye is salted out by adding potassium chloride.
The dye is then filtered, washed with a 200% potassium chloride solution and dried.
The dye dissolves well in water and dyes natural and synthetic polyamide fibers in a green-olive shade.
The dyeing has very good wet fastness properties, e.g. B. water, sea water, milled and perspiration fastness, also good light and rub fastness.
The 1: 1 cobalt complexes used as starting materials in Examples II to XIII below are obtained in an analogous manner according to the example of Swiss Patent No. 541,607.
