The invention relates to a compressed air vibrator with a cylindrical housing which contains a rolling element acted upon by the compressed air flow and has an end cover, at least one air inlet opening being arranged on the housing and at least one of the cover containing one or more air outlet openings.
Compressed air vibrators of this type are already known in various embodiments. They are used for various purposes, for example for compacting powdery and granular material or also for loosening powdery material in filling and dosing systems.
These vibrators can be designed in various ways.
A common feature of all embodiments is that an eccentric mass is set in circulation in the cylindrical housing by the compressed air flowing through, which mass generates the desired vibration.
With such compressed air vibrators, the compressed air flowing into the housing is interrupted at short intervals by the circulating mass, which, depending on the frequency, leads to a strong noise development when air escapes freely from the housing, which is uncomfortable for the human ear and can often even be harmful. For this reason, the compressed air vibrators have already been equipped with silencers, which eliminate the hard sound waves either through a porous metal or through a labyrinth system.
The commercially available silencers, however, have the disadvantage that they have to be attached to the outside of the vibrator housing and often have a disruptive effect due to their considerable space requirement. They are also often clogged by dirt particles and resinous oils in the compressed air.
Silencers with labyrinth systems also have the disadvantage that they cannot protect the housing interior of the compressed air vibrators from external influences, such as dust and moisture, when they are not in operation.
It is therefore the object of the invention to design a compressed air vibrator of the type mentioned in such a way that, on the one hand, the hard sound waves generated by the exiting blasts of air are attenuated without the risk of clogging and, on the other hand, protecting the interior of the vibrator from external influences when not in operation is, in addition, the external dimensions of the vibrator housing should not experience any enlargement.
According to the invention, this object is achieved in that a cavity is arranged on the outside of the cover, which is closed by a disk-shaped, elastically deformable membrane, the outer edge of which rests against the cover in a sealing manner and, during operation, is transported by the air exiting the air outlet openings Support surface is liftable.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the compressed air vibrator according to the invention is shown. Show it:
1 shows a cross section through a compressed air vibrator with a roller as a rotating mass,
2 shows a longitudinal section along line II-II in FIG. 1 through one end of the housing of the compressed air vibrator out of operation
3 shows the same longitudinal section as FIG. 2, but in
Operating condition.
The compressed air vibrator has a cylindrical housing 1 which is closed at the end by two covers 2, of which only one is shown in FIGS. 2 and 3. Coaxially to the housing 1, a fixed axis 3 is arranged, which z. B.
can be screwed to the covers 2. In the interior of the housing, a hollow cylindrical roller 4 is also arranged, which can roll freely on the axis 3, but does not touch the inner wall of the housing 1.
The compressed air is supplied through the nozzle 5 and sets the roller 4 in circulation, the desired vibration being generated by the eccentricity of the roller 4 with respect to the housing 1 and the axis 3. The compressed air leaves the interior of the housing through holes 6 in the covers 2.
The lids 2 have a circular recess on their outside, which is delimited by a conical inclined surface 10. An elastic membrane 8 is clamped in the recess by means of a screw 7 in such a way that its edge rests against the inclined surface 10 with its edge under elastic deformation. This creates a space 9 between the cover 2 and the membrane 8, which is connected to the interior of the housing 1 via the holes 6. To a certain extent, this space represents a decompression space for the exiting compressed air.
When the compressed air vibrator is in the idle state (FIG. 2), the membrane 8 closes the interior of the housing against the ingress of dust and moisture. In operation (FIG. 3) the membrane is elastically bent outwards by the exiting compressed air, so that the air can escape into the open through a circular slot. The sound waves exiting through the exit bores 6 or the hissing noises occurring when the air exits directly through the holes 6 to the outside are noticeably attenuated by the distribution in the decompression space and by the large-area outflow at the edge of the membrane 8 for the human ear. Under favorable conditions, the noise level generated by a compressed air vibrator without a silencer can be reduced from 82 Db by means of the membrane 8 to 65.5 Db.
The elastically deformable membrane 8 can be made of plastic, e.g. B. nylon, or made of sheet steel.
Of course, the decompression space 9 could also have a different shape. It could e.g. B. be provided a cylindrical recess in the lid 2, which is covered by the edge of the lid.
