In the case of circular knitting machines, various methods for selecting needles that work with electronic control have become known, but they are still complicated and prone to failure. The designers of the same have remained too much in the realm of the earlier technology of mechanical dialing devices. For example, toggle plates and springs, as well as pusher and similar parts of previously known, mechanical selection devices as well as the technology of feeding a pusher foot into the pusher lock were adopted. As a result, behind each needle there were an overwhelming number of complicated parts in cooperation with an electronically controlled electromagnet. The facilities became accordingly more expensive and more prone to failure.
An electronically controlled needle selection device that can be achieved with simple means and without problems would, however, result in a simpler lock construction and faster pattern changes; this applies to both round and flat knitting machines.
The present invention is therefore based on the object of providing a method for selecting a needle, for the implementation of which only a single selection element is required behind each needle, whereby the disadvantages mentioned above are eliminated.
The method according to the invention is characterized in that a constant elastic pressure force is exerted for the preselection movement of selection elements, but which acts on the individual selection elements one after the other as they pass, and that an electronically controlled electromagnet is provided for the controlled prevention of preselection movements, which controls those selection elements whose Do not knit needles, prevents a preselection movement by holding them back when passing against the elastic force through magnetic attraction, and that the other selection organs, which have carried out the preselection movement, through the apex of a wedge-shaped separating element that engages at the tips of the selection elements and pushes the selection organs behind the tip of a drive part, through which they are driven directly against the needles in order to push them into the working position.
The principle of the present method consists in the fact that an elastic force would like to push all passing selection elements into the preselection position. However, the selection organs intended to not work are held back by controlled magnetic impulses against the elastic force, i.e. a negative selection process that takes place electronically.
Both forces, the elastic pressure force as well as the controlled magnetic attraction, act on the same selector element in passing, but at the moment of the selection process the restrained magnetic attraction is stronger than the elastic pressure force urging the selector movement, which results in the negative choice of not knitting concerned needle is achieved.
The device according to the invention for carrying out the method is characterized in that in the same channel behind each needle only a single selector element with a selector tip and a surface to be exposed to the elastic pressure force is provided, and that in the lock an electronically controllable device perpendicular to this surface is provided Electromagnet with an outlet nozzle for a pressure medium built in between its poles is provided, and that a separating element with an acute wedge angle is provided above the selector tips in the direction of the lock movement shortly after the point of action of the electromagnet and the elastic pressure force, which separates the selector elements moved by the pressure medium, in that its apex edge engages behind their tips from above and feeds these selection elements to a drive part through its wedge effect.
The same selection principle is suitable for circular and flat knitting machines as well as for knitting machines. The same device of each lock can be provided at the lock entrance, one to the left and one to the right.
The pressure medium can be compressed air or a suitably compressed liquid such as oil. The elastic compressive force can also be exerted by a rotating roller that unrolls on the ends of the pusher, which has such an elastic outer jacket that those pushrods that are held back by the electromagnet can easily be pressed into the elastic jacket.
Exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are described in more detail with reference to the drawing. Show it:
FIG. 1 shows a cross section through the lower part of a needle cylinder with plungers as selection organs,
FIG. 2 shows a plan view of part of a needle cylinder development with a schematic arrangement of further parts from FIG. 1,
FIG. 3 shows a cross section like FIG. 1, but with rocker-shaped selection elements,
FIG. 4 shows a top view of FIG. 3 corresponding to FIG. 2,
FIG. 5 shows a sliding plate with two magnetic poles, seen from below.
Figures 1 and 2 show an embodiment in which behind each needle 12 there is provided a plunger-like, longitudinally displaceable selector element 3, an electromagnet 2 and compressed air from a nozzle 1 acting on its end face at the end 3c. These selection organs have a foot 3a with a tip 3b. The foot 3a is used for sliding movement after the selection process and the tip 3b for favorable separation after the short selection movement. In Figure 1, the needle cylinder 6 is shown in a partial section through its lower part. At the end of the needle cylinder 6, a ring 5 made of bronze, brass or some other non-magnetic material is provided so that the magnetic field of the electromagnet 2 is fully concentrated on the end 3c of the selector.
This ring 5 is slotted in the same pitch as the needle bed with the needle channels 6a, only the webs between the slots of the ring 5 are slightly higher because the ends 3c of the selection members 3 are wider than the needles 12. In their basic position, these ends 3c are flush with the webs of the ring 5 at the bottom. The electromagnet 2 with the built-in compressed air nozzle, which is built into the fixed lock entrance, brushes against the selector element ends 30 when the cylinder rotates. For this purpose, the magnetic poles are equipped with an abrasion-resistant sliding plate 2c, which is made of non-magnetic material such as hard metal or sintered ceramic, consists.
This sliding plate 2c also contains the fine bore of the compressed air nozzle 1 as well as the feed tube la, which, together with the plate 2c, are cast between the poles 2a and 2b by means of a plastic.
When the ends 3c pass by, all ends receive a compressed air pulse one after the other, which forces the selection elements from their basic position A into a preselection position B. The action of the compressed air cannot be controlled in the required frequency of the needle sequence. The idea of the invention is now served by the controlled magnetic pulses to optionally prevent the selection movement, in that the magnetic field directed to the selection members holds back the selection members, which cannot be selected according to the pattern, from a selection movement against the compressed air pulse. Those selection organs that were not acted upon by a magnetic impulse move to preset position B.
A wedge roller 9 with an acute wedge angle is provided as a separating element for reliable separation. the apex edge 9a of which rotates when the cylinder 6 is rotated (in the direction of arrow P) against the incoming feet 3a of the selection elements 3 and this engages behind from the tip 3b and so the selection elements 3 on the flanks of the feet 3a shown forward (in Fig. 1 and 2 up), where they are taken over by an expulsion part 10 in order to be driven by this directly against the needles.
The separating roller 9 is set at an angle of approx. 20 degrees to the direction of travel; this prevents the tips 3b from running up or wedging directly with the apex edge 9a.
Provided under the separating roller 9 is the expulsion part 10, the tip 10a of which is located in congruence with the inclined apex edge 9a. As a result, the feet 3a of the selection members 3 cannot abut the tip 10a.
The dialing process will be explained in more detail with reference to FIG. The needle cylinder 6 rotates in the direction of arrow P.
In the fixed lock jacket (not shown) the same parts of the selection mechanism 1, la, 2, 2a, 2b, 2c, 9, 9a, 10, 10a are provided for each lock as described.
The needles 12 arrive, aligned in their basic position from the previous lock (from the right in FIG. 2), as do the selection elements 3. All the selection elements are exposed one after the other to the pressure of the air jet from the nozzle 1 on their end 3c. The tip 3b of the organs, which are not attracted by the magnet 2, then passes behind (in Fig. 2 over) the apex edge 9a and these organs are moved forward by the inclined roller 9, which engages the tip 3b, by a wedge effect ( to the top left in FIG. 2) onto the expulsion part 10, like the organs 31 and 32.
Organ 33 has already reached the wedge surface of the expulsion part 10 and is driven by the latter against the associated needle 123. The organs 34, 35 and 36 have reached their highest position and thus brought the feet of the needles 124, 125, 126 over the needle switch 13. These selection organs 34, 35 and 36 have finished their task here and are now being returned to their basic position (A in FIG. 1) by the return part 11. Other voting organs, e.g. B. 37, 38, 39 were held back when passing the sliding plate 2c by magnetic pulses against the force of the air jet, so that their needles were not displaced.
In this dialing process, the negative needles are selected to be eliminated.
In Figures 3 and 4, an embodiment of a device with swing-shaped selection members 4 is shown.
The latter are mounted here below the cylinder wall in a special guide ring 5, oscillating about a 90 degree position to the longitudinal direction of the needle and guided in slots. The storage is formed by a tightly coiled and endlessly made round spring 5b, which is hung in an inclined recess 4d. The head pieces 4k of the selection elements 4 are guided in an oscillating manner from their basic position A to the end position D above. The shaft part 4a opens out at the top, over the webs, into a selector tip 4b. The outer (lower in Fig. 3) longitudinal edge is provided with a recess 4c and, when the needle cylinder 6 rotates, runs close to the control head, consisting of the compressed air nozzle 1 and the electromagnet 2, whereby each organ 4, as above for the organs 3 described, can be brought into a preselection position B.
Those needles, respectively. those organs whose needles are not intended to knit remain in their basic position when, according to the pattern, they are held back by the electromagnet 2 against the jet of compressed air.
Here, too, the preselection position B is secured immediately after it is reached by a vertex 8a of a switch wedge 8 which, in FIG. 4, is inclined to the plane of the drawing and begins a little above the selector tips 4b. The basic position A of the selection organs 4 is assumed here just as with the selection organs 3 by their own weight. This basic position is limited by a stop which is formed by a wire 5d. In Figure 4, the sloping and sloping apex edge 8a of the switch wedge 8 is shown only schematically with an oblique line. The upper end of the apex edge 8a begins at the top a little above the selector tips 4b (see FIG. 3) and ends at the bottom, behind the tip 10a of the expulsion part 11 (see FIG. 4).
This obliquely downward sloping and obliquely forwardly directed sheath edge hitting the tips 4b of the selection organs 4 and hitting the selector organs themselves is excluded.
For the purpose of safe cutting of the needle feet, namely between those needles that are pushed up by the selector elements for knitting and those needles that are not intended to knit, a pivotable needle guide 13 is provided according to FIGS. 2 and 4. This has a pivot pin 13d about which the needle conductor 13 can be pivoted from the position shown in dashed lines, in which it grasps all the needles, into the selected position shown in solid lines. In this position, however, only those needles are detected that are pushed up by the selection organs, as shown.
In order to keep the way of pushing up as short as possible, the needle feet are provided with a point 12a and the needle conductor 13 with a cutting edge 13a. This measure is already claimed in one of my earlier patent applications. What is new here is that the needle conductor 13 is provided so large that its upper edge 13b also forms the spout height for the tuck knitting, insofar as the spout part 14 is sunk.
