Fig. 2 einen Schnitt gemäss 8....8 in Fig. 1.
The invention relates to a device for correcting the trajectory of a twist projectile.
In the main patent, a method for correcting the trajectory of a twisted bullet during its flight is described, which is characterized in that the bullet is given a course correction pulse that is practically perpendicular to the axis of the bullet and through its center of gravity, the pulse being caused by repelling part of the bullet's mass becomes.
The device described in the main patent for carrying out this method has means for generating the course correction pulse, which are arranged on the base body of the projectile and whose centers of gravity lie in a plane which is at least approximately perpendicular to the axis of the projectile. This device is characterized by a laser device for transmitting a course correction signal to the projectile and by a receiving device in the projectile for this signal, which activates the pulse-generating means in accordance with this signal in such a way that the projectile is displaced towards a target trajectory.
Accordingly, the projectile has pulse-generating means which generate a lateral movement of the projectile towards a desired trajectory. The pulse is preferably controlled by a coded signal which is applied to the projectile. The pulse control is described in detail in the main patent. It works with a laser beam system.
The laser beam system contains components that can transmit a signal to the projectile that reflects the angular position of a certain surface point on the projectile relative to the vertical, which can send a signal to the projectile that indicates the distance of the projectile from an optimal trajectory which the projectile would hit a controlled target, which also transmit a signal to the projectile which corresponds to the distance of the projectile along its trajectory and which finally set the means for generating the correction pulse for lateral displacement of the projectile towards the optimal trajectory in motion.
The present invention relates to an improved device of the type mentioned, which is characterized in that the pulse-generating means comprise explosives which are embedded in a groove which is worked into the shell of the projectile so that when the explosive detonates in the groove Impulse is caused whose vector lies in a plane that is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the projectile and at least approximately goes through the center of gravity of the projectile.
An exemplary embodiment of the device according to the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings. It shows:
Fig. 1 is an overall view of the partially cut projectile, which represents one of the components of the device mentioned and
FIG. 2 shows a section according to 8 ... 8 in FIG. 1.
As can be seen from Fig. 1, the external view of the projectile is generally designated 40, similar to that described in the main patent. The projectile comprises a central portion which includes a cylindrical shell 41 which covers a long groove 42 machined into the cylindrical shell 43 of the projectile body. The long groove 42 may be formed in the form of a plurality of U-shaped grooves which are connected to one another at their ends so that the ends of the U-legs of the grooves are connected to the adjacent curved part of a groove. This results in a long groove that runs in turns over the circumference of the jacket 43. The long groove 42 is located such that a plane which intersects the groove 42 in the middle of each longitudinal leg and is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the projectile also passes through the center of gravity of the projectile at the same time.
The groove 42 is connected to a microdetonator by means of a detonating cord.
The groove 42 of the projectile 40 contains highly explosive material which completely fills the groove 42. This explosive material can be of the secondary type so that it can be ignited by the microdetonator. This can be a large number of different explosive components, for example lead styphenate as the primary explosive, followed by a number of pieces made of a more sensitive explosive, such as tetryl, which in turn are followed by secondary explosives such as HMX, RDX or PETN. The explosive can be bound to one another by different composite materials, so that an optimal detonation speed results by varying the density of the composite material.
The highly explosive explosive can then be injected into the long groove, even if it initially has only a low viscosity and is only hardened later. The highly explosive material which is located in the groove 42 can, if it is detonated in accordance with the angular position of the detonation point with respect to the vertical, cause the detonation to proceed very rapidly along the groove. For this purpose, an explosive is selected that has a high detonation speed, even if the projectile rotates around its longitudinal axis at a high speed. The high pressure caused by the explosion of the substance of the groove 42 acts against the inside of the annular casing 41 and accelerates it in such a way that the vector of the impulse generated in this way is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the projectile 40.
The material surrounding the groove 42 may be such that it crumbles away so that the surface remaining after detonation is smooth.
In this way the air resistance with regard to the projectile spin is reduced. The detonation velocity of the material within the groove 42 and the shape of the groove 42 with respect to the center of gravity of the projectile 40 are selected so that the vector of the momentum caused by the detonation is perpendicular through the center of gravity of the projectile 40 in a certain direction goes to the longitudinal axis of the floor.
In an alternative embodiment to that of the main patent, the small windows on the tail of the projectile can be designed in such a way that the projectile 40 has a pair of laser light sensors 44 which are seated within an axial recess 45 in the tail portion of the projectile 40. The opening 45 can be covered with a thin lid.
When the projectile is then accelerated in the cannon barrel, the sensors 44 are protected from the hot propellant gases which would otherwise cause the windows to be darkened.
The lid falls off in flight after the bullet leaves the barrel. The laser beam sensors 44 allow the optical beam generated by a laser to be fed to a corresponding photodetector (not shown), which is located in the projectile 40.
As an alternative suggestion when using the earth's magnetic field for determining the true vertical point on the projectile, as described in the main patent, the laser light sensor 44 can be arranged at different angles to the longitudinal axis of the projectile, so that the sensor light from the laser guide beam can only be obtained when a certain angle of rotation has been reached. In this way, a vertical electrical reference pulse results, since the longitudinal axis of the projectile is always at a small angle to the direction of the laser guide beam during its flight along the ballistic trajectory.
The projectile 40 also has control microcircuits which are located within a protective housing 46 which is installed within the opening 45 which is located in the tail of the projectile 40. The master microcircuits are similar to the module circuits 20 described in the parent patent. Otherwise, the projectile is designed as described in the main patent. The vector of the total impulse serves to achieve a lateral displacement of the projectile 40 from an existing flight path into a desired flight path, so that a specific target can then be hit.
