Abstract

The system for storage of fresh water for emergencies is used in factories and hospitals where sudden interruption of the water supply may have serious consequences. The storage arrangement does not require continuous attention or monitoring. The storage tank is refilled continuously and means are also provided to ensure that no water enters the tank in an emergency, to prevent contamination. Under normal conditions the tank forms part of the water supply system. In emergency conditions water is drawn from the tank under gravity and filtered. Alternatively a pump can be used. The emergency operation starts when the pressure in the tank falls below a certain value.
