Abstract

Metallic oxide crystal watch jewels, esp. rubies, are stress relieved after stress-producing treatment such as laser drilling by heating the jewels in a furnace to 900-1600 degrees C, esp. for 12-48 hrs. and then cooling, pref. either naturally in the furnace or by steps of 50 degrees C per hr. down to 800 degrees C followed by natural furnace cooling.
