Abstract

A hygienic handle for doors, windows, cupboards etc., and especially in public places, has a cavity (4) in its body at right angles to its spindle, containing a spongy material impregnated with disinfectant, with a heavy weight (3) near its outer end, which is closed by a plug (2). When the handle is turned, the weight slides and compresses the spongy material so that a small quantity of disinfectant is forced through a small hole (6) at the other end of the cavity, so that this is applied to the hand of the person holding the handle. Further disinfectant can be injected by a suitable tube inserted through a small hole (5) alongside the plug (2).
