The present invention relates to a commercial agent for repelling odors and as prophylactic protection against the acceptance of odors on solid bodies and substances with long-term effects.
Agents to be used preferably in the form of aerosol sprays are known which are intended to eliminate odors caused by bacterial decomposition, enzymatic degradation or chemical reactions which can be directly or indirectly related to the biological reactions mentioned.
These known agents include e.g. B. bactericides, fungicides, enzyme blockers, disinfectants and substances or mixtures of substances that adsorptively, absorptively or chemically bind odors. In principle, they have the disadvantage that they have to be used in a high ratio with regard to their concentration, amount or volume to the odors to be removed and therefore unfavorable.
In connection with the control of already existing odors or with fragrances and fragrance mixtures are z. B. in H. Janystin Handbook of Cosmetics and Fragrances, Volume 2 (1969) mentioned a number of the compounds used according to the invention. Similarly, some of the compounds used according to the invention, partly also in combination with substances of different volatility, have been proposed for combating or masking existing odors from French patent specification 1117 379 and in US patent specification 2 905 591. However, it has not yet been proposed to use combinations of compounds according to the present invention for the prophylactic treatment of solid materials which prevent these foreign odors from being absorbed.
The inventive commercial agent for odor repellant and as prophylactic protection against the acceptance of foreign odors on solid bodies and substances with long-term exposure is characterized in that it is made of a mixture of a volatile and odor-repellent substance and a less volatile substance intended to adhere to the body or substance Carriers.
The tests below show that the odor-repellent effect occurs when the agent is used with the combinations according to the invention.
In experiments la, lb, 2a, 2b and 3 combinations of compounds according to the present invention were used. In experiments 1c and 2c, only one of the compounds used according to the invention was used. In experiments 4a and 5a, one of the compounds used according to the invention was used with one of the compounds mentioned in French patent specification 1117,379. Finally, in Examples 4b and 5b, combinations known from French Patent 1117,379 were used.
Symbols used in the tables mean: - no foreign smell detected + foreign smell detected + unsafe or some foreign smell and + + besides other odor also foreign smell.

The tests show that when the agent is used with the combination of compounds according to the invention, the desired effect occurs and lasts for a longer period of time, whereas even when only one of the components is replaced or omitted, no odor-repellent effect can be determined.
By treating solid materials with the agent with the combination of compounds used according to the invention it is achieved that odors, such as. B.
Kitchen fumes, tobacco smoke, and the smell of fish cannot adhere to the surfaces of the materials. Since they are not drawn up or adsorbed or absorbed, the formation and deposition of odorous decomposition and degradation products is prevented. Due to the prophylactic treatment, no foreign odors can arise if odor-intensive substances are present on the treated object.
The extent and duration of the odor-repelling effect also depends on the volatility of the compounds in the particular combination used. It is primarily the more volatile substance that evaporates and surrounds the treated object with a largely odorless vapor envelope, so that the unpleasant foreign odors on the surface of the treated object cannot attract, adhere or penetrate and are repelled.
The less volatile component contained in the combination prevents too rapid or complete evaporation of the more volatile component, whereby a long-term effect is achieved.
The overall effect of the combination can be enhanced by appropriate additives such as bactericides, fungicides, enzyme blockers, disinfectants, etc. Depending on the intended area of application, the combination can also be perfumed. In contrast to the known odor-binding mixtures which cannot be perfumed at all or can only be perfumed to a limited extent, the combination according to the invention offers the additional advantage that any long-lasting fragrance notes can be produced with odoriferous substances and perfumes.
Below are three formulation examples for aerosol sprays with combinations of the compounds used according to the invention, as they are used for odor repellency on the surface of solid materials:
