In the context of the present description, weeds are understood to mean broad-leaved weeds (dicotyledons) and various grass-like weeds (monocotyledons), e.g. B. those belonging to the following families:
Umbelliferae, Compositae, in particular annual Compositae, Cruciferae, Chenopodiaceae, Rubiaceae, Solanaceae, Papaveraceae, Boraginaceae, Coryophyllaceae, Scrophyllaceae, Polygonum spp., Geranium ssp., Amaranthaceae, Digitinodiaceae, etc., Cecuronus Seticum, as well as Gramineloa of the genera ... .
Such weeds seriously affect the growth of summer and winter crops and corn. To date, only limited control has been possible with conventional herbicides in acceptable application quantities. In certain cases, control of some weed species was satisfactory with reasonable application rates of about 2-6 kg AS / ha, but at the same time other weed species were either only hindered in growth to a limited extent or hardly attacked. In some cases, weed species that resist the action of certain herbicides could be controlled by increasing the amount of the herbicidal active ingredient; however, this is disadvantageous because increasing the application rate runs the risk of damaging the useful plants or of producing large residues of herbicides in the soil.
Therefore, when controlling weeds in crops, it is desirable to develop herbicides which are effective in low concentrations.
It has now been found that the two-component mixtures to be used according to the invention of a triazine of the formula I together with an active ingredient of the formula II in relatively low concentrations for combating weeds, in particular for combating weeds in cereal and maize crops, are much more effective than one can expect from the comparison of the individual effects of the individual components with comparable concentrations. Mixtures which have proven to be particularly effective are those which, as s-triazines of the formula I, are 2-chloro-4-ethylamino-6-isopropylamino-s-triazine (hereinafter referred to as atrazine) and 3,5-dibromo-4-hydroxy-benzaldoxime 0 - (2 ', 4' -dinitrophenyl) ether (hereinafter referred to as bromofenoxime) contain.
The mixtures to be used according to the invention contain the component constituents I and II in a weight ratio of 1: 1 to 1:12, preferably 1: 2 to 1: 8.
The amounts used must be large enough to produce the herbicidal effect desired in each case. The amounts used to destroy or prevent weed growth vary depending on the specific weed species, the formulation used, the corresponding herbicidal effect of the active ingredients, the intended use (short-term or long-term effect), the application method, the plant density, the prevailing weather conditions and other variables . It is therefore not possible to specify an application quantity that is binding for all circumstances. In general, however, the amount of active ingredient mixture used is between 0.2 and 1.2 kg per hectare, preferably between 0.25 and 0.9 kg per hectare. This mixture also contains carriers and / or diluents.
With such mixtures, summer and winter cereal crops and maize crops in particular can be treated in moderate climatic zones after the plants have emerged without the crop plants being damaged in any way. The plantings can be treated with the mixtures according to the invention at the earliest possible point in time of the growth period after the plants have germinated.
In the agents to be used according to the invention, the proportion of the triazine component preferably makes up 8 to 50% by weight and the proportion of the other type II component makes up 92 to 50% by weight of the total amount of active ingredient. The two types of active ingredient mentioned can be processed in the usual manner together with various conditioning agents and additives to form agents which contain the active ingredients in herbicidally effective amounts. Usually no less than about 1% active ingredient is used in dusts, while the active ingredient content in wettable powders or solutions can be up to 80 or 90%.
The mixtures to be used according to the invention can be present as herbicidal compositions after mixing with suitable additives or distributors in the form of solutions, dusts, wettable powders and aqueous dispersions or emulsions. So you can with a carrier or diluent, such as. A finely divided solid, an aqueous solution of materials of organic origin, water, a wetting agent, a dispersing agent, an emulsifying agent or suspending agent, an aqueous emulsion, or any suitable combination of all of these agents. The wetting agents, dispersants, emulsifiers and suspending agents are usually summarized under the heading of surface-active substances.
Such surface-active agents can be anion-active, cation-active or non-ionic substances which are known per se in many varieties. In the production of agents according to the invention, the surface-active substances are usually used in a concentration range between 1 and 10% by weight.
Such herbicidal agents are usually used in the form of solutions, emulsions, suspensions or dusts according to the intended application. However, all application forms must contain the active ingredients in finely divided form. For the selective prevention of plant growth, in particular for selective weed control, the use of inert carrier materials is preferred to those carriers which are themselves phytotoxic.
Dusts and other solid compositions are obtained by intimately mixing and grinding the active ingredients with inert solid carriers, such as. B.
Talc, diatomaceous earth, kaolin, bentonite, calcium carbonate, limestone, boric acid, dolomite, precipitated silica, alkaline earth metal silicates, feldspar, mica, tricalcium phosphate as well as wood flour, powdered cork, bran, tree bark, cellulose powder, charcoal and other materials. Each of these carriers can be used on its own or as mixtures with one another. The particle size of the carrier materials is expediently up to approx. 0.1 mm for dusts, between 0.075 and 0.2 mm for grit and 0.2 to 1 mm more for granulates. The carrier substances can, however, also be impregnated with the active substances by means of a volatile solvent. Dusts and pastes can be made suspendable in water by adding wetting agents and protective colloids and thus used as a spray.
Liquid concentrates for aqueous emulsions and wettable powders for aqueous suspensions can be produced from both liquid and solid active ingredients. However, liquid active ingredients or solid active ingredients are only better suited for the production of liquid concentrates or wettable powders of higher concentrations. The various application forms can be adapted to the intended purpose in the usual way by adding substances which improve the distribution, the adhesion properties, the resistance to rain and possibly also the absorption. Such substances are especially the above-mentioned surface-active agents.
In the same way, the biological effect can be achieved by adding substances with bactericidal or fungicidal properties or other active ingredients which influence plant growth. as well as increased and widened by adding fertilizers.
The method according to the invention for combating weeds preferably consists in treating an area contaminated by weeds with an effective amount of an agent which contains the active ingredients of formula I and formula II in a weight ratio of 1: to up to 1:12, preferably 1 : Contains 2 to 1: 8.
The herbicidal agent can be applied in the form of a spray, a powder or dust to the site or to the area to be protected from Un herbs. The application of the agent takes place directly on the place or the
Area that is already contaminated with weeds. For example, the agents can be used as a spray on the leaves. On the other hand, the dry, powdery
Agents can be sprinkled directly onto the plants.
