Enfin, I'invention comprend.
A. Synthèse d'intermédiaires.

On a concentré l'extrait à sec.

EMI1.5
In each of equations (1), (2) and (3), R1 is as defined above. Either of these methods provides the desired intermediate (I). Depending on the R1 substituent, each of the above methods will give a different yield. As mentioned, many compounds of the invention can be used as herbicides. Compounds various among these can be used as herbicides in application
of pre-emergence and / or post-emergence on the vegetation to be controlled. Others can be applied to weeds or crops for defoliation or desiccation. Selected compounds can be used to control vegetation for a relatively short period of time or for long periods of time in herbicidal soil sterilization applications. These compounds can be used in various degrees of purity, varying for example between crystals and crude technical grade.
Among the suitable solvents for these compounds, there may be mentioned alcohols, aqueous alcoholic solutions and ketones, in particular acetone and methyl isobutyl ketone.
For use as herbicides, the compounds of the invention can be formulated in various ways and concentrations for application to the location of vegetation to be controlled. It is recognized that the particular type and concentration of the composition, as well as the mode of application of the active ingredient may determine its biological activity in a given application.
The compounds of invention can be prepared as simple solutions of the active ingredient in a suitable solvent, in which it is completely soluble at the desired concentration. These solvent systems include water, alcohols, acetone, aqueous alcohol and acetone, and other organic solvents.
These simple solutions can be modified by adding various surfactants, emulsifiers or dispersing agents,
dyes, odoriferous agents, defoamers, other herbicides or herbicidal oils which extend or synergize the activity of the herbicides of the invention or other adjuvants for any given application where it appears desirable to impart a particular type or degree of response of the plants. plants.
The compounds of the invention can also be put into other forms of compositions commonly accepted by those skilled in agricultural or industrial chemicals. These compositions include, for example those containing the active ingredient in the form of relatively large granules, in the form of powders, in particular wettable powders, in the form of emulsifiable concentrates, or as components of any other known type of composition in common use. by those skilled in the art. These compositions contain adjuvants and vehicles normally employed to facilitate the dispersion of the active ingredient for agricultural and industrial applications of phytotoxics. These compositions can contain as little as 0.25% or more than 95% by weight of the active ingredient.
Dusting powder compositions are prepared by mixing the active ingredient with finely divided solids which act as dispersants and carriers for the phytotoxic by applying it to the location where vegetation is to be controlled. Among the solids which can be used for the preparation of powders containing the active ingredient of the invention and intended for powder coating applications, there may be mentioned talc, kieselguhr, finely divided clay, fuller's earth or other solids. common organic or inorganic. The solids employed in the preparation of the compositions in powder form normally have a particle size of 50 microns or less.
In these compositions in the form of powders for dusting, the active ingredient is most often present in a content varying between as little as 0.25% and up to 30% or more, by weight of the composition.
Granulated compositions of the active ingredients are prepared by impregnating or adsorbing the toxicant onto or into relatively coarse particles of inert solids, for example sand, attapulgite clay, gypsum, corn husks or other morganic or organic solids. In these granulated compositions, the active ingredient is most often present in an amount of 1.0% up to 20.0% or more, by weight of the composition.
Wettable powders are solid compositions in which the active ingredient is absorbed or adsorbed in or on a sorbent carrier, for example finely divided clay, talc, gypsum, lime, sawdust, fuller's earth, kieselguhr, etc. These compositions are preferably prepared so as to contain 50% to 80% active ingredient. These wettable powders generally contain a small amount of a wetting agent,
dispersant or emulsifier to facilitate dispersion in water
or other liquid vehicle used to deliver the phytotoxic
on the site where the plants must be combated.
Emulsifiable concentrates are liquid compositions
or homogeneous pastes containing the active ingredient, which disperses in water or other liquid vehicle to facilitate application of the phytotoxic on replacement where vegetation
must be fought. These emulsifiable concentrates of the ingredients
assets may contain only the active ingredient with an agent
liquid or solid emulsifier or may contain other solvents
relatively non-volatile organics, such as risophorone,
dioxane, heavy aromatic naphthas, xylene or dimethyl
formamide. In these compositions, the active ingredient generally forms from 10.0% to 70.0% by weight of the phytotoxic composition.
Postenergency herbicidal activity
Tests were carried out on the herbicidal activity of
compounds of the invention in post-emergence. Some non-limiting illustrations of their use in this field are presented below.
The test method involves preparing the indicated compounds as spray suspensions, using standard dilution techniques. The active ingredient was applied at the rates (expressed in kg of active compound per hectare) shown in the table. The tests were carried out on white anserin, setaria, Aleppo sorghum, garden twist, tomato, oats, wheat, cucumber, kidney bean (HNR), and
cotton. Typically these plants were two weeks old at the time of application. In the case of cotton, it was in its 4-6 leaf stage when sprayed. Kidney beans, at the time of spraying, were at a point in their growth where they showed a well-developed cluster of first true leaves.
The results were seen ten to twelve days after spraying. Phytotoxicity indices were assigned, based on a scale from 0 to 10, where 0 indicates no lesions and the number 10 indicates that the plants were killed. In addition to numbers, the following symbols are used: Des = desiccation; Def defoliation; I = inhibition; Y = yellowing; x = 90% defoliation; and xx = 10% defoliation, to indicate all observations made.
It has been determined empirically, by a series of tests, similar to those described above, that the most advantageous compounds in the herbicidal compositions are those in which R 1 is a substituent selected from lower acyclic hydrocarbon radicals and halogenated derivatives. of those radicals in which each halogen is independently selected from fluorine, chlorine and / or bromine; and the tautomers of (A).
Compounds of Formula A, when used singly or together, exhibit pronounced phytotoxic characteristics, often with surprising selectivity to species, at application rates between 0.28 and 11.2 kg / hectare applied preferably in the form of compositions containing from 1 to 80% active ingredient.
Fungicidal activity.
The compounds of formula A also exhibit fungicidal activity. They can be used singly or in combination as field fungicides or as a leaf fungicide spray.
