L'in
four 1 est chauffé extérieurement grâce à la flamme du brûleur 32;

We know that it is often necessary to eliminate waste of all kinds by ensuring their incineration in a device comprising burners which provide the heat necessary for incineration. It is clear that, for such incinerators, one seeks, on the one hand, to achieve a suitable incineration of the waste, whatever the nature of this waste, and on the other hand, to limit as far as possible, I ' calorific input necessary for a good incineration.
Incinerators have already been proposed comprising a fixed furnace of which at least one zone of the wall is heated by burners: the furnace generally has a substantially flat lower wall, which constitutes the heating zone. The waste is loaded either sideways or perpendicular to the lower plate of the oven which supports the heating. It has been observed that, in all cases, there is a settlement of the waste loaded into the furnace, which settlement is detrimental to the proper incineration of all the waste; it has also been observed that settling occurs in a particularly troublesome manner in incinerators, the loading of which is carried out perpendicular to the heating plate of the furnace.
Moreover, in such incinerators, the gases originating from the gasification of the waste are ignited when they leave the furnace by mixing with a quantity of preheated air; a ventilator ensures both the suction of the air and the extraction of the gasification gases from the waste so that this ventilator is crossed by the gases which have just burned and whose temperature is high enough to pose considerable problems as to the mechanical strength of the fan.
Finally, in such incinerators, the gasification gases being extracted by the upper part of the furnace cannot supply, by their combustion, part of the heating heat of the lower plate of the furnace, so that the combustion heat of these gas is lost for heating the furnace; they can nevertheless be used for the predrying of the waste feed, when this feed is carried out perpendicular to the heating plate of the furnace.
The object of the present invention is to avoid the aforementioned drawbacks.
The present invention relates to a waste incineration process, characterized in that the waste is loaded at one end of a cylindrical or prismatic furnace driven in rotation around its axis, that the displacement is ensured. waste along the axis of the furnace, which is heated the side wall of the furnace, which is extracted from the furnace, at its end opposite to that where the loading takes place, on the one hand, by gravity , the ash corresponding to the incinerated waste and, on the other hand, by pressure difference, the gasification gases of the waste, which the gases are passed along the side wall of the furnace in the opposite direction to the movement of the waste in the oven,
the gases passing through the zone where the furnace is heated externally and which is extracted from the chamber, where the heating of the furnace takes place, the burnt gasification gases.
In a preferred embodiment of the method, the waste is moved in the furnace, between the feed zone and the ash removal zone, by a propeller arranged in relief inside the furnace; the walls of the heating chamber, which surrounds the oven, are cooled by a circulation of air sucked in by a fan and delivered into a pipe which leads to the chimney; the extraction of the gasification gases burnt by depression at the outlet of a nozzle placed in the flow of cooling air from the heating chamber, the burnt gases being entrained by the flow of air and mixed with it.
A waste incinerator for implementing the method according to the invention is characterized by a prismatic or cylindrical furnace driven in rotation about its axis, the furnace being provided at one of its ends with a device for feeding waste to incinerate and at its other end, openings made in its side wall and further comprising, internally, means capable of ensuring a movement of the waste from the feed zone towards the opposite end, by a chamber of
heater surrounding the oven and enclosing the end lights
of the oven, the chamber comprising at least one heating means
whose action is exerted on the wall of the furnace,
and being put in com
communication with the outside thanks to an evacuation of burnt gases,
and by means of external protection of the wall of the
heating chamber and rotating drive means
from the incinerator furnace.
To better understand the object of the invention, we will
now describe, by way of example, two embodiments shown in the accompanying drawing.
On this drawing:

Referring to the drawing, the incinerator has in its zone
central a cylindrical furnace 1, carried by rollers 2 arranged in
on either side of cylinder 1, at the lower part of this cylinder and
at each end of the cylinder. One of the four pebbles 2, which
supports cylinder 1, is mounted on the same axis as a wheel
chain 3 which cooperates with a chain 4, which transmits to the
wheel 3 the movement of the output wheel 5 of a gear motor
tor 6. The cylindrical furnace I carries on its inner wall a
propeller 7 which protrudes inside the cylinder. Inside of
one of the ends of the oven 1 is inserted a chute
load 8 which fits on the circular orifice of furnace I at
by means of a rotating joint. The opening of the charging chute
ment 8, which is opposite to the connection area with the oven
cylindrical 1, is provided with a cover 9.
The end of the oven 1,
which is opposite to the connection zone with the chute 8, is
obtained by a bottom 10 that can be provided removable for
sea an inspection hatch inside the oven. Near the
bottom 10, the cylindrical oven 1 has on its side wall
lights 1 1 regularly distributed around its periphery. Hey
wedge 7 which protrudes inside the cylindrical furnace 1. extends from
the connection area with the fixed chute 8 up to the area
in which the lights are made 11. The propeller 7 plays the
role of stiffener for the side wall of the oven 1.
Between the chute 8 and the bottom 10, the oven 1 is locked inside
inside a cylindrical heating chamber, the wall of which 12
delimits a substantially cylindrical volume constituting the
heating chamber 13. Lights 1 1 of oven I are located
inside the volume 13. The heating chamber 13 comprises, to

fage 13. The ashtray 15 is removable by translation out of its
housing 16.
The heating chamber 13 communicates with the former
outside by an air supply duct 17, the opening of which
ture on the outside is closed by an adjustment register 18. The
pipe 17 is placed in the lower part of the
heating 13 in the vicinity of the ash evacuation duct 14.
At the top of the heating chamber 13, we have provided
a burnt gas discharge pipe 19, this pipe
communicating with the heating chamber 13 via an orifice
arranged near the furnace area 1 where the gou connects
fixed monkfish 8. The pipe 19 comprises, at its opposite end
to the one through which it communicates with the heating chamber
fage 13, a nozzle 20. In the horizontal plane passing through the axis
of the cylindrical furnace 1, there is provided a burner 32 supplied with fuel oil, the burner of which the flame penetrates inside the heating chamber 13 through the duct 12a; the flame of the burner 32 is directed onto the side wall of the furnace 1, in the central zone of this furnace.
The wall 12 of the heating chamber 13 is surrounded by an inner casing 21, which is itself surrounded by an outer casing 22. An annular space is formed between the points of the wall 12 and all the points of the inner casing 21. The inner casing 21 has at its two ends an opening allowing passage of the oven 1; The opening 23, which is located on the side of the loading chute 8, has substantially the outside diameter of the oven 1 while the opening 24 which is on the side of the bottom 10 has a diameter greater than the outside diameter of the oven 1. The inner casing 21 communicates with the outside by a suction pipe 25, in the vertical axis
of which is the rotor of a fan 26 driven by a
electric motor 27.
The fan 26 delivers in a duct
tion 28 whose axis is parallel to the axis of the nozzle 20; The flow
of the gases burnt by the pipe 19 and the nozzle 20 is carried out paral
parallel to the flow of the flow rejected by the fan 26. The
pipe 28 is connected to the exhaust gas stack of
installation. Alternatively, one can provide in the canalisa
tion 28, after nozzle 20, taking into account the direction of flow
gas, an auxiliary burner 29.
The outer casing 22 also comprises, at its two
ends, two openings allowing passage of the oven 1 through
towards its two bases; Opening 30, placed on the side of the chute
load 8, has a diameter greater than the outer diameter
of the oven 1, while the opening 31, on the side of the bottom 10 of the oven, has
a diameter substantially equal to the outside diameter of the furnace. Linen
outer casing 22 is in communication with
atmosphere through opening 30 and communicates with the interior
laughing of the inner envelope 21 through the opening 24.
In
in other words, the fan 26 causes suction through
towards opening 30, air circulation in the annular space
which separates the outer casing 22 from the inner casing 21,
a passage of this air through the opening 24 then a circulation
air between the inner casing 21 and the wall 12 of the chamber
heating 13.
When the device described is implemented, it is charged by the
chute 8 the waste to be incinerated. These wastes are introduced to
one end of the cylindrical furnace 1 and, due to the rotation of
this furnace and the presence of the projecting propeller 7, the waste
progress gradually towards the bottom 10. The rotation of the
oven ensures permanent mixing of waste. The
oven 1 is heated externally by the flame of the burner 32;
heating the wall of furnace 1 by burner 32 makes it possible to
rer a good incineration of the waste inside the furnace 1 with
a pealable degasification of volatile matter. Incineration
is carried out all the better if there is no fear of any settling of the
waste inside the oven 1.
When they get to the right of
lights 11, the waste is totally incinerated, the wall of the
furnace 1 in the impact zone of the flame of the burner 32 being
raised to approximately 750 ° C. The incinerated waste passes through the
lights 11, which are located at the bottom of oven 1, and
fall through the ash outlet 14 inside
ashtrays 15 from the incinerator.
Waste gasification gases which are produced internally
the oven 1, are sucked by the lights 1 1 inside the
heating chamber 13 and, in this heating chamber. they
meet the flame of the burners 32. These gasification gases,
which are combustible, therefore ignite in the
heating 13 and provide additional heat for heating
from the wall of the furnace 1. The burnt gases coming from the
burner 32 and on the other hand, gasification gases having undergone the
combustion pass through the pipe 19 of the nozzle 20 due to
of the vacuum which exists at the orifice of the nozzle 20, which
is created by the current of air pulsed by the fan 26 around the nozzle 20. As a result, downstream of the nozzle 20 there is, in the pipe 28, a mixture of air and flue gases.
In the event that a large quantity of gasification gas is produced inside the furnace 1, the combustion of these gases may not be completed at the outlet of the nozzle 20 and it may be useful to provide an auxiliary burner 29 which ensures complete combustion.
The fan 26, the air flow of which is pulsed inside the pipe 28, causes a suction inside the duct 25 and ensures a circulation of air through the opening 30, the annular gap 22- 21, the opening 24 and the annular gap 2112. To ensure a suitable adjustment of the combustion, there is provided at the lower part of the heating chamber 13, an air supply duct 17, the orifice has an adjustable register 18. The operation of the register 18 makes it possible to adjust the quantity of air admitted inside the heating chamber as a function on the one hand, of the flow rate of the burner 32 and on the other hand, of the quantity of gasification gas to burn.
In addition, in front of the fan 26, there is provided an adjustment flap 33, which allows, for a constant flow of the fan ensuring constant suction inside the heating chamber 13, to adjust the amount of air, which passes through the annular spaces between the outer casing 22, the inner casing 21 and the wall 12 of the heating chamber 13.
It can be seen that, in such an incinerator, there is a saving in fuel due to the recovery of the heat of combustion of the gasification gases originating from the incinerated waste. On the other hand, thanks to the rotary movement of the furnace 1, any compaction of the waste is avoided, which favors their incineration.
Finally, the fan 26 of the installation only circulates a flow of air and is not in contact with burnt gases, which considerably increases its resistance to wear.
In the variant which is shown in FIG. 4, the incinerator described is associated with a predrying device. In this embodiment, the chute 8 shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 is replaced by a predrying cylinder 34 driven in rotation about its axis. The cylinder 34 bears on four rollers 35 arranged in pairs at each end of the cylinder 34. One of the rollers 35 is integral with a wheel 36 driven by a chain 37, the movement being communicated to the chain 37 by an integral wheel 38. of an output shaft of the gear motor 6. Inside the cylinder 34 is a propeller 39. One end of the cylinder 34 is engaged in the end of the furnace 1 which is opposite the bottom 10 of this oven; The other end of cylinder 34 receives the end of a feed device 40 which comprises a screw 41.
The cylinder 34 has on its side wall perforations 42 of small diameter; it is enclosed, in its central zone, inside an enclosure 43, itself placed inside a protective envelope 44. The enclosure 43 communicates with the outside via a duct 45, which is connected to the chimney of the installation. The enclosure 43 also communicates by a duct 46 with the pipe 28 through which are pulsed on the one hand, the burnt gases and on the other hand, the cooling air corresponding to the cooling of the previously described incinerator. At the lower part of the enclosure 43 is a screw device 47 which allows ex
milking through a duct 48 the particles of waste which could have
exit the cylinder 34 through the perforations 42. The screw 47 is driven
born in rotation by a motor 49.
In enclosure 43, the gases pro
coming from line 28 and arriving via line 46 cir
counter to the movement of waste placed in
inner cylinder 34.
In such a device, the waste introduced by the screw 41 to
the interior of the pre-dryer cylinder 34 is heated due to
the evacuation of the burnt gases and the cooling air, which escape from the incinerator through line 28. This heating
causes dehumidification of waste, vapors escape
pant outside the cylinder 34 by the perforations 42 and being entrained
by the circulation of gas inside the pipe 45. The dice
humidification takes place satisfactorily due to the fact that the waste cannot settle due to the rotation of the cylinder 34. The waste moves in the cylinder 34 towards the furnace 1 due to the action of the propeller 39.
In this variant, it can be seen that the heat saving is further improved compared to the device shown in FIGS. 1 to 3 since the recovery heat obtained from the gases discharged from the incinerator is used for the dehumidification of the waste.
In the incinerator described, any settling of the waste inside the furnace due to the permanent rotation of the furnace around its axis is definitely avoided; the conditions for gasification and combustion of the waste inside the furnace are therefore markedly improved.
Moreover, the incinerated waste is evacuated at the end of the furnace, which is opposite to that where the loading takes place; by dropping the ashes into the ashtray through the openings provided for this purpose in the side wall of the furnace, the ashes are discharged into the area of the lower generators of the furnace but the same ports are used for the passage of the gasification gases from the inside the oven into the inside of the heating chamber that surrounds the oven. These gasification gases, which are combustible, therefore come into contact with the flame of the burner (s) of the heating chamber and their total combustion is thus ensured, the heat produced by this combustion supplementing the heat supplied by the heating chamber. burner for heating the oven.
This arrangement therefore provides a significant calorific saving since the gasification gases participate in the incineration of the waste.
The burnt gasification gases are evacuated with the combustion gases from the burners in the burnt gas discharge pipe and these hot gases are sucked out of the heating chamber by the vacuum which prevails at the outlet of the nozzle placed in the current air blown by the installation fan; it follows that. The hot gases do not pass through the installation fan, which makes it possible to obtain good mechanical strength for this fan. Finally, it should be noted that the external cooling of the heating chamber is carried out by circulating the air which is necessary to cause the extraction of the burnt gases out of the combustion chamber.
The thermal efficiency of the installation is further improved when the incinerator is used in combination with a pre-dryer as indicated for the second variant mentioned above because, in this case, before being discharged into the chimney, the mixture of cooling air and flue gas yields part of its heat to the waste to be incinerated, which ensures a certain dehumidification of the waste before its introduction into the furnace of the incinerator.
