The present invention relates to a mixing and kneading device with a rotatable and at the same time reciprocating worm shaft arranged in a housing, which is equipped with kneading teeth arranged on the inner wall of the housing, the web of the worm thread winding helically around the shaft at least interrupted four times per incline. The invention also relates to a method for operating this device.
In such devices, the kneading teeth pass through gaps between the worm blades as the shaft rotates and oscillates. It is necessary to adapt the geometrical design of the screw blades, taking into account the movement of the screw shaft, to the position of the kneading teeth so that the latter move as closely as possible past the screw blades in order to introduce shear forces into the product and strip off the material. Up to now, three-winged shafts have been built by interrupting the helical flight around the shaft three times for each full turn, with three rows of kneaded teeth being attached to the housing wall.
In order to make the space between the wing and the kneading teeth as small as possible, a very complicated shaping of the screw wing and thus a time-consuming processing is necessary, so that the screw wing cannot be manufactured with simple machine manufacturing methods.
In order to enable the most favorable conditions with regard to shear forces and stripping properties to prevail even with a screw wing that is easy to manufacture, the applicant has already proposed to interrupt the spiral thread around the shaft at least four times per turn so that a so-called four-winged shaft is created which cooperate with four rows of kneading teeth. This means that the relative movement path between the wing and the kneading element can be coordinated quite well with one another.
In order to create optimum conditions, the present invention proposes a further embodiment of such a device. Instead of the previously used worm blades, which have been adapted as closely as possible to the sinusoidal axial movement, a favorable blade shape is proposed, which is easy to machine in manufacture and to which the axial movement of the shaft is adapted. Accordingly, the device of the type mentioned at the beginning is characterized in that the at least four worm blades formed in this way have at least approximately flat boundary surfaces which can be moved along the kneading teeth, the axial movement of the shaft being controllable so that the relative movement path of the worm blades with respect to the kneading teeth is as possible corresponds exactly to the contour of the screw blades.
The method for operating the Einrichtuflg with, arranged in a housing, rotatable and at the same time movable back and forth worm shaft and arranged on the housing inner wall, radially inwardly protruding kneading teeth is characterized in that the worm shaft is given a rotary movement and an axial movement at the same time.
In the accompanying drawing, a screw is shown in development as an exemplary embodiment.
In the drawing, the development of a mixing and kneading device is shown, the screw flight of which is interrupted eight times per handling in order to form eight screw blades, which are designated by 1 in the drawing. Eight rows of kneading teeth 2 cooperate with these mixing and kneading blades, which rows can be designed, for example, as bolts inserted into the inner wall of the housing.
As can be clearly seen from the drawing, the wings are designed as sections of a thread that can be produced easily and cheaply and which have the shape of a rhombus in cross section. No expensive back milling of the wings is necessary. Of course, any other shape that is easy to manufacture can also be used for the wings.
The axial movement of the shaft is now controlled so that the relative movement path of the kneading teeth 2 with respect to the blades 1 corresponds as precisely as possible to the contour of the latter.
All that remains to be taken into account is the play between wing 1 and kneading tooth 2, which is required in terms of design.
An exemplary sequence of movements is shown in the drawing for explanation. For the sake of simplicity, the representation was chosen as if the kneading teeth 2 were moving past the resting wings 1, while in reality it is the other way around. However, this is of no importance for the principle of the invention. The movement path in the axial direction during one revolution, for example, is composed of a number of straight lines, since the surfaces delimiting the blades are planes. While the distance between two horizontal lines in the drawing corresponds to a rotation of the shaft by 450, a course of the path extending perpendicular to these lines means a standstill of the axial displacement of the shaft, while a course of the path to the left means a forward stroke and to the right one Backward stroke means.
In order to make it clear how closely the wings 1 slide past the kneading teeth 2, the relative paths of a kneading tooth 2a and 2b have been drawn. As can be seen, only a small amount of play remains around the wings la and lb.
With such a forward / standstill / backward movement of the shaft, the exit of the product can be influenced in a simple manner. Thus, with a shorter retreat of the wave, a slow, uniform ejection or, with a long retraction of the wave, a short, strong ejection can easily be achieved. Furthermore, the return achieved by the shaft can be kept large or small as desired.
The pulsation of the product outlet, which is typical for the usual waves, can be reduced or eliminated in the proposed solution in that the shaft is ejected over more than 1800 shaft rotations, while the shaft is retracted axially over less than 1800.
Depending on the design, the axial movement can comprise up to three quarters of the ejection and one quarter of the decline.
The transmission for the axial movement of the shaft has a control device which takes the shape of the wing into account.
The control can have a template selected according to the shape of the wing or else hydraulic means, the structural design being evident from FIG. 3 of Swiss patents 497 195 and 504 227. Another solution for a hydraulic drive is similarly conceivable, as known from Swiss patent 507 733.
Finally, the possibility should be mentioned that, with a corresponding wing shape, the non-sinusoidal reciprocating movement in combination with the rotation of the shaft arises mechanically from the path of a point P, which is with a circle of radius r at a distance a from the center M of the circle is firmly connected when this circle rolls in a straight line without sliding. The distance a can be selected to be equal to, larger or smaller than the radius r.
A gear for generating such movements may be cheaper to manufacture than a corresponding sinusoidal gear. Other drives may also be advantageous, for example mechanically created as the path of a point P 'when a circle k with the radius r' rolls on the outside of a solid circle K with the radius R. Depending on the distance a 'of the point P' from the center M of the circle k, there are in turn different trajectories for a '= r', a 'greater than r' or a 'smaller than r'. Further forms of movement can be obtained with r '= R or 3r' = R, the latter already corresponding to a special form of the template control mentioned above.
