(a) Preparation of concentrated basic dye solutions, by incorporating the free bases, organic or inorganic salts of basic dyes in liquid lower alpha-, or beta-hydroxyalkyl nitriles or lower alpha- or beta-alkoxy-alkylnitriles, opt. in presence of water-soluble organic acids and water, and/or other organic solvents. - For dyeing polyacrylonitrile fibres. - Previous basic dye solutions used in the paper, textile and leather industry have either not given sufficiently concentrated solutions, or an extra process has been necessary to convert the dyes into organic acid salts.
