The invention relates to a method for producing photographic copies from a film strip, in which method an information carrier strip is attached to the film strip along one of its two longitudinal edges, on which data decisive for the processing of the film strip are at least partially attached in the form of machine-readable characters, each Image field of the film strip is assigned an information field on the information carrier strip.
In a known method of this type, the information carrier contains information about exposure correction values for the production of prints. These exposure correction values are obtained by checking the corresponding negatives. When using a copier equipped with a suitable reading and evaluation device, the information carrier offers the advantage that when making copies, the exposure correction values do not have to be entered manually into the copier, but are set automatically. However, since in the previously known methods the information carrier only contains information about the exposure correction values, the absolute exposure values must still be determined when copying.
The copier must be equipped with a special nless device for this. This is a disadvantage since such measuring devices make the copier more expensive.
When it comes to film processing, reorders are difficult for both the customer and the photo lab. It is often troublesome for the customer to recognize the frame numbers that have been exposed on the edge of the film by the film manufacturer, especially in the case of 35 mm films, since the frame numbers in these are not synchronized with the film transport. The image field numbers on the films must be searched for in the photo laboratory. This is time-consuming and often involves taking the films in hand. which can contaminate or even damage them.
The invention aims to eliminate these disadvantages.
The invention is characterized in that complete exposure values for the associated image field are applied in machine-readable form to each information field.
When using such adapted film strips, the copier only needs to be equipped with a suitable reading and evaluation device: an expensive exposure time or
Density measuring device is unnecessary.
A preferred embodiment of the invention is characterized in that pre-marked, but machine-readable data is applied to each information field of the information carrier strip, which data can be selectively converted by hand into certain machine-readable data for re-ordering enlargements.
The pre-markings can be, for example, pre-marked fields which can be filled in with a pencil and which therefore differ from their surroundings with regard to their reflection properties and / or their electrical conductivity. The fields filled in in this way can then be read by machine using a suitable optical or electrical scanner.
In the following the invention is explained in more detail with reference to an embodiment shown in the drawing.
In the figure, the film strip is designated with 1 and the information carrier strip with 2. The two strips, the length of which is preferably approximately four to six image field lengths, are connected to one another in an overlapping manner at the longitudinal edges by gluing, in particular heat sealing. An information field 4a, 4b and 4c is assigned to each image field 3a, 3b and 3c of the film strip 1 on the information carrier strip 2. According to the illustration, the image and information fields lie one below the other like columns. In each information field there are three data groups Ia, IIa and IIIa, Ib, IIb and IIIb or Ic, IIc and IIIc in the form of hole codes. In the drawing, perforated positions of the hole codes are actually outlined with a continuous line.
Pre-marked, but not yet opened holes are outlined with a dashed line. Each of the data groups Ia, Ib, Ic is formed according to the illustration by a two-digit code word. One position of this code word indicates whether the associated negative image field can be copied or not. The other position is used for positioning the image field in a copier or the like.
It is assumed that the first line in relation to the film edge (parallel to the film edge) of the code words Ia, Ib and Ic contains the statement about the ability to be copied and is only perforated for negative image fields that can be copied. A non-perforated point is symbolically indicated by a cross. Thus, in the present example, the first line of the code words Ia-Ic contains the information that the image fields 3a and 3b can be copied and the image field 3c cannot be copied, e.g. B. is too much overexposed or underexposed. In the second line of the code words Ia-Ic, all positions are always punched. These holes 10a-10c are always assigned to the image fields 3a-3c or their side edges in the same relative position. The holes 10a, 10b and 10c serve to position the image fields 3a. 3b or
3c in a suitably equipped device, e.g. B. a copier.
Each of the data groups IIa, IIb, IIc is formed by a four-digit code word as shown. For example, in these code words the first line (from the top) is assigned to the execution of special orders (particularly format sizes, etc.), which are to be indicated in plain text in the lines 5a, 5b, 5c running next to these holes. The specified special orders will only be carried out if the assigned hole is open. The holes in the second to fourth lines of the code words IIa-IIc are provided to indicate the desired number of enlargements per image field.
Pushing through a hole in the second line means ordering one enlargement, pushing through a hole in the third line means ordering two, pushing through a hole in the fourth line means ordering four, and pushing through the holes in the second and third lines in the same code word ordering three, pressing through the holes in the second and fourth lines in the same code word ordering five and pressing through the holes in the second, third and fourth lines in the same code word ordering seven magnifications.
By combining the three holes or binary digits of each of the code words IIa-IIc, all numbers from 1-7 can be specified. Larger numbers of enlargements can be ordered in plain text in lines 5a, 5b or 5c, whereby the code hole assigned to the line must be opened at the same time (special order). Corresponding instructions for use for the customer are printed on the back of the information strip 2. In the example shown, the holes in the second and fourth lines in code word IIa and the holes in the first and second lines in code word IIb were pressed through. The special order 18x24 was also noted in line 5b. This means: five standard enlargements (9x9) from negative image field 3a and a special enlargement 18 x 24 from negative image field 3b.
According to the illustration, each of the groups IIIa-IIIc is formed by eleven code words. These code words are arranged in a grid which is identical to that of a five-channel standard perforated strip. In further identical correspondence with a standard perforated strip, a transport perforation 6 is also provided. The information strip 2 or film 1 is normally in the direction indicated by an arrow R by the scanner or
the copier moves. The scanning therefore takes place in the opposite direction in terms of time. The first code words in each group IIIa, IIIb or IIIc with regard to the scanning agree with one another and do not appear a second time in any group. According to the illustration, this code word 20a, 20b or 20c consists of five holes (all positions perforated) and can be used to indicate the beginning of the data group IIIa, IIIb or IIIc. The ten further code words of each of the data groups IIIa-IIIc indicate the complete exposure values and / or a number identifying the assigned negative image field. These numbers are particularly useful for preparing reorders in school and commercial portrait photography.
The transport holes 6 are normally when scanning the information strip 2, for. B. in the copier, not used. The means of transport normally attack the film strip 1. However, the five-channel perforated strip enables a specific negative image field to be found quickly and easily by means of the coded image field number using a standard perforated strip reader. Film 1 plus information carrier R are together dimensioned so that they can be transported by means of the transport perforation 6 through a standard perforated tape reader. This also has the advantage that the order can also be invoiced by automatically reading data groups IIa-IIc. Instead of a five-channel perforated strip grid, an eight-channel grid etc. can also be used for the data groups IIIa-IIIc.
