Heitman G. H., Coyne I. E., Galipean R. R. Metalls Engineering Quart , 1968, Bd. 8, Nr. 3).
Reihenfolge angewendet werden: Ziehen des Blocks mit 30 bis 50%iger Querverformung bei einer Temperatur, die 50 bis 80 C über dem Temperaturpunkt der Phasenumwandlung der Legierung von ss- zur a + ss-Struktur liegt, Stauchen mit 50-70%iger Verformung und Lochen bei einer Temperatur, die 30-50 C über dem erwähnten Temperaturpunkt liegt, Ziehen des hohlen Rohlings mit 30-40%iger Verformung Auswalzen mit 20-30 %iger Verformung und Stauchen mit 1030%iger Verformung bei einer Temperatur, die 20-30 C über dem erwähnten Temperaturpunkt liegt;
The invention relates to a manufacturing method for ring-shaped forgings that are made from blocks made of titanium-based alloys with a two-phase a + ss structure with an amount of the ss phase of up to 30%, the blocks being plastically thermoformed and heat-treated during open-die forging. This method can be used in particular for rotor shroud rings of powerful turbo generators with 500 MW and higher output.
A manufacturing process for blanks for rotor shroud rings is known in which the block is stretched, compressed, punched and rolled out. The blank is then heat treated and hardened.
Steel shroud rings made in this way have good mechanical properties under normal operating conditions. However, under high mechanical stresses, elevated temperatures and abnormally high levels of humidity, the rings often give rise to malfunctions in the turbo-generators and often have to be inspected and replaced.
The well-known advantages of titanium alloys, namely their high specific strength and corrosion resistance, were the reason for the use of these alloys in aircraft construction and other branches of industry in the manufacture of highly stressed workpieces that must be resistant to corrosion and temperature.
Manufacturing processes for blanks of up to 300 kg heavy workpieces are known, which are manufactured by open-die forging or machining of titanium alloy blocks with a one- and two-phase a + ss structure in dies without a flash. For the production of such workpieces, working methods with plastic hot deformation and heat treatment are known which ensure that forgings are obtained from titanium alloys with high specific strength and ductility. In particular, in the case of titanium alloys with a two-phase a + ss structure, plastic hot deformation of these workpieces when heating them to temperatures corresponding to the a + ss structure is recommended (see Heitman GH, Coyne IE, Galipean RR Metalls Engineering Quart, 1968, vol. 8 , No. 3).
There are also more precise parameters for heat and mechanical treatment of titanium alloys with two-phase a + ss structure, namely for treatment of the ingot at temperatures of 40-90 C, below the temperature point of the phase transition of the alloy from ss structure to a + ss -Structure, and known for degree of deformation of 40-70%.
However, the known methods of working with plastic hot deformation do not ensure that a uniform and isotropic structure in the entire cross section of blanks with large dimensions and 500 kg or greater weight, e.g. B. of forgings for rotor shroud rings of powerful turbo generators is obtained.
The invention is based on the object of selecting methods of operation which are suitable for the production of ring-shaped forgings by hot plastic deformation and which ensure a uniform and isotropic structure in the entire cross-section of the workpiece.
The method according to the invention is characterized in that the block is deformed several times in the axial, radial and tangential directions with a total degree of deformation in each of these directions of at least 60% when the direction of the deformation force is changed consecutively and with at least 40% during the last expansion, while the heating temperature is gradually increased is lowered from the temperature 50-80 "C above the temperature of the phase transition of the alloy from ss- to a + ss structure when it is first expanded, to a temperature which is 20-30 C below the temperature of the transition of the alloy during The last expansion lies, whereupon the blank is annealed after the end of the plastic deformation at the temperature which is lower than the transformation temperature of the alloy.
The mentioned solution ensures that at all
Forging layers are subject to various loads during the particularly plastic state of the machined block, with machining being terminated in the temperature range of the a + ss state of the alloy structure. This makes it possible to obtain a uniform and isotropic structure in the entire cross-section of the forging.
Appropriately, in order to avoid the occurrence of cracks, the block is radial when forging for the first time
Deformed direction.
In a special embodiment, the following procedure for plastic deformation can be used in
Sequence are used: drawing the block with 30 to 50% transverse deformation at a temperature that is 50 to 80 C above the temperature point of the phase transition of the alloy from ss- to a + ss structure, upsetting with 50-70% deformation and Punching at a temperature 30-50 C above the mentioned temperature point, drawing the hollow blank with 30-40% deformation, rolling out with 20-30% deformation and upsetting with 1030% deformation at a temperature that is 20-30 C is above the mentioned temperature point;
After these operations, the blank is drawn with a relative deformation of up to 30% and rolled out with 4050% deformation at temperatures that are 20-30 C below the temperature point mentioned.
The forgings are expediently annealed in the following order: heating the forgings to 800-900 C with a holding time of at least one hour at this temperature and then complete
Cooling in air, secondary heating to 550-650 C with at least one hour holding time at this temperature and subsequent complete cooling.
Below are implementation examples of the manufacturing process for ring-shaped forgings, which are intended for rotor shrouds of turbo generators, made of a titanium-based alloy with 6% Al, 2.5% Mo, 2% Cr content and with a temperature of 980 "C during the phase change described from ss- to a + ss structure.
example 1
A block weighing 1300 kg is heated to 1050 C and, during open die forging, is drawn with 38% deformation in cross section. The blank obtained in this way is then heated to a temperature of 1000 "C and with deformation that is 62% of the total deformation, compressed in the axial direction and punched. After heating to 1000" C, the hollow blank is placed on a mandrel and with 36% deformation pulled in the direction of the ring height. After heating to 1000 "C, the blank is rolled out on the mandrel with 26% wall thickness deformation. Furthermore, after it has been heated to 1000" C, it is upset with 29% deformation in the vertical direction.
The blank is then drawn onto the mandrel with 25% deformation in the direction of the ring height when heated to 1000 "C. Finally, when heated to 950" C, it is rolled out until the final forging dimensions are reached at 42% deformation of the wall thickness.
After completion of the forging operations mentioned, the forging obtained is cooled in air to room temperature. The annealing process for the forging consists of heating the latter to 800 "C, holding it for one hour at this temperature and cooling it in air.
Example 2
Starting block weighing 2600 kg is heated to a temperature of 1040 "C. At this temperature the block is compressed by 53% in the height direction (deformation in the axial direction) and punched. The hollow blank is then heated to 1020 C and placed on the mandrel Temperature, it is drawn with 39% deformation in the vertical direction. After completion of this operation and heating up to 1000 "C, it is rolled out with 17% deformation of the ring thickness.
In addition, the blank is heated up to 980 "C and then compressed with 30% deformation in the vertical direction.
After this operation, the blank is heated up to 950 "C at this temperature with 30% deformation in the vertical direction. After heating to 950" C, it is finally rolled out with 40% deformation of the ring thickness.
After completing the above-mentioned operations, the blank is cooled in the air and heat-treated in the following order. The forging is heated to 870 "C; the holding time at this temperature is one hour; then it is cooled in the air.
Furthermore, it is heated to a temperature of 650 "C., with a two-hour holding time at this temperature. Then the forging is cooled in the air.
The mechanical properties of the forgings, which were manufactured according to the machining process mentioned, were tested by means of test bars cut out in the tangential direction and were the same at 20 C: Example wall thickness, yield point, breaking strength.
