Counting device for counting particles suspended in a liquid The main patent relates to a counting device for counting particles suspended in a liquid, the electrical conductivity of which is different from that of the particles, with a measured amount of the liquid containing the suspended particles with a conveyor system is conveyed from one container through a resistance measuring section into a second container and each particle causes a change in the measuring section resistance when passing through the electrical resistance measuring section, which is dependent on the size of the particle and which is characterized by
that an electrode carrier is plugged tightly onto an exchangeable measuring tube and a measuring section carrier with a fixed electrical resistance measuring section is replaceably attached to the electrode carrier.
According to the present invention, a counting device according to the patent claim of the main patent, in which a measuring head consists of the electrode carrier, containing a closable gas channel, and the measuring section carrier, is additionally characterized in that an axial through-hole is formed on both ends of the measuring head's electrode carrier Extensions for sealing the measuring tube on the one hand and for sealing the replaceable measuring section carrier on the other hand, and a suction channel radially leading into the extension receiving the measuring section carrier, designed for sealing a suction line to the first container, are present, so that the gas duct at the inner end into the one receiving the measuring section carrier Extension opens,
that the first electrode is arranged in the suction channel and the second electrode in the through-hole and are each electrically connected to connection means anchored in the electrode carrier, and that the interchangeable measuring section carrier has a cylindrical shaft with an axial blind hole at the insertable shaft end and one radially into the blind hole end having a leading channel with a measuring section element tightly inserted therein with a calibrated bore.
A head of the measuring section carrier preferably protrudes from the electrode carrier and the part of the measuring head containing the measuring section carrier protrudes from a housing of the counting device. A blow-out device for cleaning the measuring section can be provided on the housing.
In a partial counting device for counting small particles, such as. B. blood cells, the resistance line is often clogged by contamination, especially when using a continuously operating suction pump. The present solution, especially the design of the measuring head and its arrangement on the housing of the counting device, allows the measuring section carrier to be exchanged easily and quickly or the measuring section to be cleaned without having to operate other parts of the measuring device.
It has also been shown that in such a part counting device the second electrode is advantageously arranged in the flow direction after the gas inlet and is tubular. As a result, gas bubbles, which arise on the electrode surface, for example through electrolysis, are removed when the measuring device is ventilated. The ventilation of the measuring device takes place automatically, in that a start signal initiating the measuring process causes the tight closure and an output signal concluding the counting process causes the gas duct to open.
Unnecessary removal of measuring liquid from the first container is prevented by the automatic shutdown and interruption of the suction process. In addition, by blowing out the liquid from the blind bore of the measuring section carrier and thereby removing the line carrier between the two electrodes after a measuring process. The two electrodes can thus remain connected to the excitation voltage between a measurement process without damage. Gas bubble formation is not possible in this state.
In the drawings, a particle counting device according to the embodiment of the invention and parts thereof are shown. 1 shows a schematic representation of a particle counting device; 2 shows a longitudinal section through a first measuring head; 2a shows, in section, the part of the measuring head containing the measuring section; 3 shows a longitudinal section through a second measuring head; Fig. 4 is a blood cell counter is shown in three dimensions.
According to FIG. 1, the bottle 10 contains the particles to be counted suspended in a liquid. The hollow needle 12 connects the bottle 10 to the measuring head 14, in the through-line of which a pair of electrodes and a measuring section - are arranged. The measuring tube 16 connects the measuring head 14 with the second container 18 through its sealing cover 22. The suction pump 20, whose suction line also protrudes through the sealing cover 22 into the container 18, causes the liquid with the particles suspended therein from the container 10 through the Hollow needle 12, the measuring head 14 and the measuring tube 16 in the second loading container 18 flows.
The amount of liquid for each count is measured photoelectrically in a volumetric device. The calibrated measuring tube 16 of the volume tri device is initially filled with air. As soon as the pump 20 is running, liquid is sucked from the container 10 through the measuring head 14 into the measuring tube 16. The rays of the two light sources 32, 34 which each pass through a diaphragm 17, 19 are directed onto the transparent measuring tube 16 and the light reflected on its inner and outer wall partially reaches the photo sensors 28, 30.
If the air-liquid boundary layer passes through plane A, the change in the reflection and refraction conditions on the inner wall of the measuring tube 16 also changes the intensity of the light falling on the photosensor 28. The signal generated there by causes a logic circuit 26 to switch on a pulse counter 44, which now registers all changes in resistance that are generated by the particles passing through the resistance measuring section at the electrode pair 36, 38 and amplified in the amplifier 40. A corresponding display he follows continuously through the numerical display 42.
As soon as the gas-liquid interface passes level B, the signal generated in the photosensor 30 and processed accordingly in the logic circuit 26 acts to turn off the pulse counting. Operating elements 46 are connected to the logic circuit 26 to control the system.
The measuring head 14, according to FIG. 2, consists of the cylindrical electrode carrier 51 and the also if generally cylindrical measuring section carrier 50 and is made of transparent plastic. The axial through-hole 62 in the electrode carrier 51 is formed with the extensions 52 and 68 and two sealing rings 54 each inserted therein. The extension 68 is used to seal the calibrated measuring tube of the volumetric device.
The measuring section carrier 50, inserted tightly into the extension 52, contains an axial blind bore 61, as a continuation of the through bore 62, a channel 57 leading radially into the end of the blind bore and glued into this a measuring section element 56, for example a ruby, with a calibrated through-hole as a resistance measuring section (see also Fig. 2a). Opposite the channel 57, the suction channel 58 opens into the widening 52 between the two sealing rings 54 inserted therein. The radial channels 57 and 58 are opposite each other when the visual marking 53 on the measuring section carrier 50 points vertically upwards The suction needle 12 is placed tightly on the electrode carrier 51.
The first electrode 36 is arranged in the suction channel 58 with the end opposite the measuring section element 56 and connected to the electrical connection pin 64. The second electrode 38 is arranged in the through-hole 62 between the extensions 52 and 68 and is connected to the electrical connection pin 66.
Both electrodes 36, 38 are firmly anchored in the electrode carrier 51. The connection pins 64, 66 establish the electrical connection to the amplifier 40 via corresponding means.
1 and 2, the Sy stems is ventilated through the gas channel 72, which is connected to the through hole 62. The beginning of a measuring process is initiated by a start signal, which causes the logic circuit 26 and the magnet 78 to cause the piston 76 to close the air opening 74 tightly. As a result, the measuring liquid is sucked by the suction pump 20 from the container 10 through the suction needle 12, the channel 58, the calibrated bore in the measuring section element 56 in the channel 57, the blind bore 61 and the through bore 62 into the measuring tube 16. When the liquid reaches the level of the first reading device 28, 32, the counting process is started.
When the liquid reaches the second Ablesevor direction 30, 34, the counting is ended and the signal from the photosensor 30 is used by the logic circuit 26 to open the air inlet 74 through the magnet 78 and piston 76. The air now sucked into the measuring head prevents further suction of measuring liquid through the measuring section and the measuring tube 16 is cleaned of measuring liquid. The system is automatically cleaned when a counting process is completed and is therefore immediately ready for another measurement process.
3 shows another advantageous embodiment of a measuring head 14. The two electrodes are tubular, the first electrode 45 in the suction channel 58 and the second electrode 47 adjoining the enlargement 52 in the through-hole 62 and with the same inner diameter as the same are arranged. In the air inlet 74 of the gas channel 72, a sleeve 73 is arranged in such a way that its edge lies above the countersink 75, but within the outer contour of the electrode carrier 51. The obliquely arranged gas channel 72 opens into the extension 52 at the end face.
The blind bore 61 is seen at the front end of the measuring section support 50 with an extension so that the air flow can take place unhindered. The markings 55 and 59 on the end face of the electrode carrier 51 and on the shaft of the measuring section carrier 50 are arranged in such a way that when they are aligned, the channel 57 and thus the calibrated bore in the measuring section element 56 face the suction channel 58, which is much larger in diameter .
This allows easy and problem-free positioning of the exchangeable measuring section carrier 50 in the electrode carrier 51. The electrodes 45 and 47 are connected to the connection pins 64 and 66 by connecting lines 209 and 207, respectively.
A particle counting device according to the invention for measuring blood cells is accommodated in a housing 300, as shown in FIG. Only the elements required for operation and control are visibly arranged. The transparent measuring head 14 protrudes from the housing 300 with the part containing the measuring section carrier 50. The first container 10 with the liquid with the suspended particles can simply be pushed over the suction needle 12 and placed in the holding surface 305 provided for this on the housing 300. The blow-out device 307 connected to the pump 20 serves to clean the bore in the measuring section element 56. For this purpose, the measuring section carrier is pulled out of the electrode carrier 51 and briefly pressed into the blow-out device.
When inserting the measuring section support, make sure that the markings 55 and 59 are aligned. This measuring head arrangement allows simple and quick cleaning and replacement of the measuring section carriers. The operating and control elements include the start button 301, the buttons 302 and 303 for red and white blood cells and the counting display 42 with the three numeric display tubes 342.
The measuring head is mainly made of transparent material, e.g. B. plastics such as epoxy resins or glass. The electrodes are usually made of a platinum alloy.
