Mischungen derselben untereinander verwendet.

Stable, concentrated solutions of metal complexes of azo dyes
It is known to use dyes in the form of concentrated stock solutions. This avoids certain disadvantages that occur when the dyes are used as finely ground powders, such as e.g. Dust generation, problem solving, foam formation. In addition, the dyes have a lower transport volume in liquid form and are also easier to dose. U.a. Concentrated, heat- and frost-resistant stock solutions of 2: 1 metal complexes of sulfo group-free azo dyes and of dye salts of metal-free sulfo group-containing azo dyes with aliphatic diamines and alkanolamines have also been described in the literature.
It has now been found, surprisingly, that stable, concentrated solutions can also be obtained from metal complexes containing sulfo group-containing azo dyes. According to the invention, primarily water-soluble polyhydric alcohols or their ethers or water-soluble polyethers, low molecular weight aliphatic carboxylic acids and their amides or mixtures thereof are used as the solution medium.
Such compounds are e.g. called. Ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, di- and triethylene glycol, 2-methylpentanediol-2,4, ethylene glycol monomethyl, ethyl or butyl ether, diethylene glycol monomethyl, ethyl or butyl ether, diethylene glycol monoethyl ether, glycol, glycol monoethyl ether acetate, glycol monoethyl glycol, glycol monoethyl glycol, glycol monoethyl ether, glycol, glycol monoethyl glycol, 2-methylpentanediol-2,4 , 3 -diethyl ether, thiodiglycol, formic acid, acetic acid, lactic acid, formamide or N, N-dimethylformamide, N, N - dimethylacetamide, N, N - dimethylmethoxyacetamide, N, N, N ', N'-tetramethylurea.
In addition, possible solvents are lactams, lactones or nitriles containing oxy groups, such as N-methylpyrrolidone, 1, S-dimethylpyrrolidone, r-butyrolactone, acetonitrile or -hydroxypropionitrile, and also other liquid compounds such as esters, e.g. Ethyl lactate, ethylene carbonate, diethylene glycol monoacetate, ethyloxybutyrate, ketones and hydroxyketones, e.g. Methyl ethyl ketone, diacetone alcohol or acetonylacetone, optionally monoalcohols containing ether groups, such as isopropyl alcohol, 2-hydroxymethyltetrahydropyran, tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol, glycerol formal (5-oxy-1,3-dioxane), sulfur-containing compounds, e.g.
Sulfolane (tetramethylene sulfone, tetrahydrothiophene-S-dioxide) and sulfolene (2,3- or 2,5-D; ihydrothiophene-S-dioxide) and their derivatives substituted in the 0: - and / or; position, in particular by alkyl or hydroxyalkyl groups , Dimethyl sulfoxide, phosphorus compounds, e.g. Hexamethylphosphoric acid triamide, bis (dimethylamido) methane phosphate, simple heterocycles such as tetrahydrofuran, pyridine, dioxane, glycol formal (1,3-dioxolane), and also solid compounds such as e.g. Caprolactam, trimethylolethane, lactic acid amide or tetrahydroxymethylmethane (pentaerythritol).
In the present process the metal complexes of sulfonic acid group-containing azo dyes are used in the form of their metal salts, e.g. the sodium, potassium or magnesium salt.
Suitable complex azo dyes are e.g. 1: 1 nickel or cobalt or in particular 1: 1 copper or chromium complexes, and 1: 2 cobalt or, above all, 1: 2 chromium complexes, preferably of monoazo dyes, but also those of dis- or Polyazo dyes, the two azo dyes in the 1: 2 complexes being identical or different. In at least, but preferably only one azo dye molecule, at least and preferably only one sulfonic acid group must be present. Particularly valuable are o-carboxy-o'-hydroxy or, in particular, o, o'-dihydroxyazo dyes of the naphthalenazonaphthalene, benzolazonaphthalene, benzolazopyrazolone or benzolazoacetoacetic acid amide type. which may also contain substituents, preferably nitro groups or halogen atoms.
Such dyes are, for example, in French patents 1,220,587, 1,246,903, 1,269,496, 1,269,497, 1,272,728, 1,272,729, 1,273,542, but especially in French patents 1101,955, 1,220,028, 1 352 623, 1370510, 1371123, 1376128 and 1414067. The dyes can also be used in mixtures with one another or optionally with dyes of another type, e.g. with non-metallizable azo dyes.
The compounds used can be mixed at room temperature or at elevated temperature. If desired, a small amount of a nonionic, anionic or cationic surfactant is also added. The dye solutions according to the invention can optionally also contain water. but preferably not more than 10 to 20%.
Additives to protect against mold growth can also be added, as can anti-foaming agents.
The addition of small amounts of urea, thiourea, pentaerythritol or the like often also has an effect. has a beneficial effect on the behavior of the dye solutions, e.g. to prevent unwanted crystallization. If necessary, dispersants, which are in the solvents used, respectively. Dissolve solvent mixtures into which solutions are incorporated. The amounts used are advantageously chosen so that the solutions according to the invention contain the dyes in high concentrations, e.g. from 10 to 60 or preferably 10 to 40 percent by weight.
Despite the high proportion of dye, these solutions have the character of real solutions and remain liquid even at temperatures below 0 C even if a certain degree of supersaturation has occurred. Even after long periods of standing, the dyes do not crystallize out or decompose.
This must be described as surprising, since it was not to be expected without further ado that the dye metal complexes would dissolve in the organic media in a real, concentrated and stable manner despite the presence of very strongly hydrophilic sulfonic acid groups. The presence of real solutions avoids the risk of swelling and sedimentation that often occurs with dispersions. An advantage in the production of the preparations is that a prior removal of the salt content in the dyes used is not necessary, since it does not or only partially dissolves and can easily be removed by subsequent clarification by filtration or centrifugation. Solution temperature and time depend on the dye and the solvent used, respectively. Solvent mixture from.
Both data can easily be determined by preliminary tests.
The solutions according to the invention are miscible in any ratio with water or in some cases with suitable organic solvents and can easily be dosed volumetrically. The dye solutions according to the invention can even be introduced into the dye liquor at room temperature without the risk of clumping. In the case of dye preparations in powder form, on the other hand, a stock solution must often be prepared in water at an elevated temperature before the dye is added to the dyebath so that the dyes dissolve completely in the dyebath. to distribute.
The solutions according to the invention are particularly suitable for the production of dye solutions for paper and in particular textile fibers, especially for nitrogen-containing fibers, e.g. synthetic polyamide fibers according to the usual dyeing methods for acidic dyes, but can also be used for other purposes, e.g. for the production of inks or printing inks for display instruments, stamp pads, typewriter ribbons, etc.
In the following examples, the denotes the parts unless otherwise specified. Parts by weight, the percentages percentages by weight and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
Example I.
54 parts of the brown chromium complex azo dye C.L acid brown 282 are introduced into a mixture of 20 parts of dimethylformamide and 126 parts of diethylene glycol at room temperature and the mixture is stirred for five hours at room temperature. The solution is centrifuged to separate off undissolved salts. It contains approx. 21% dye. Even after a long storage time, even at temperatures of - 150, the dye does not crystallize out. If this rather thin liquid solution is poured into water, homogeneous distribution takes place within seconds.
Example 2
A solution with the same properties as described in Example 1 is obtained by adding 54 parts of C.I. acid brown 282 in a mixture of 20 parts of dimethylformamide, 40 parts of diacetonallrohol and 86 parts of diethylene glycol.
Example 3
A dye solution with similar properties can be obtained by adding 54 parts of CI. acid brown 282 in a mixture of 40 parts of diacetone alcohol, 20 parts of dimethylformamide and 80 parts of ethylene glycol. Before the dye is added, 6 parts of urea are dissolved in the solvent mixture. The dye is added to the solution at room temperature and the mixture is stirred for five hours.
